Updating from my prior review and removing photos from the first job three years ago. We had a fair amount of river rock we wanted removed from the side of our yard, and given the fantastic job he did before we wanted to go with Dave again. Nearly five month lead time and a crew was sent out to dig it - by hand - in nearly 100 degree heat in the middle of August. They did the best they could given the temperature and lack of oversight, but in the end the job was left 90% completed. Gatorades and freezer pops couldn't have saved them. Dave came to the door seemingly in a hurry, asked for the check and left, not checking up on the work his crew did (who also left without saying anything to us). I've already hand-dug and hauled four dump-carts full of rock with, I'm estimating, maybe four more to go. I'm happy I didn't have to do the whole thing so am grateful for that, but the stark contrast between the first job and the second had our necks feeling like we got whiplash. What happened? It's great that Glacier View has blown up, meaning more work for his crew, and it's likely that we're such small potatoes now it's barely worth scheduling us, but it sucks to be treated as an afterthought. Maybe they aren't great for repeat business. {edit}: Dave reached out offering to finish the job, and while I'm admittedly still a bit sour over the extra work I do respect how he tried to make it right. More importantly I'm satisfied with the acknowledgment of the lack of communication and a reassurance of improvement moving forward: small job or large. So, I'm increasing the rating to what it should be. read more

Very happy with the flagstone patio Dave White and his team from Glacier View put in last summer. Dave was very communicative and clear throughout the process and his prices were great compared to other estimates. The flagstone is gorgeous and they picked a really nice combination of colors of stone that look great with the color of our house. We'll be calling Dave again for a future project! read more

Dave and his crew were really great. They were pleasant to work with and helped me come up with a great design and plan of trees to provide a shield from the neighbors house. Hardworking, right on schedule after waiting a year to get on their busy schedule, and they chose great trees and shrubs and beautiful moss rock for the border. They also installed an addition to our patio for the grill which looks great. And they upgraded the irrigation system redoing the lines where necessary and adding on new zones. Dave and his crew were very responsive, heard what I wanted (and delivered on it), helped me through the HOA process, and accurately estimated both cost and timing. The quality of work and final appearance is great (neighbors have complimented me already!), and Dave really ran with the project, with very little needed from me. I don't know what it is about landscape architects or deck builders, but if 50% of the companies I call even bother to return my call within a week, I consider it a win. Of the eight landscape designers I reached out to, Dave was the only one to get back to me within 24 hours. His responsiveness continued through the life of the project. That alone would be worth repeat business, as I'm sick of having to chase contractors down when I'm trying to give them money. We asked Dave to give us a bid on about a dozen individual projects in our yard and then let us select which ones to actually implement. He was happy to accommodate and patiently answered a multitude of questions. The actual job went smoothly and quickly. It started on time, there was no fuss or drama, and a few minor changes were easily accommodated while the work progressed. We plan to hire Glacier again. read more

Dave and his team completely rebuilt our 40+ year old flagstone patio and garden area. They combined old stone with new to create a beautiful, random pattern and it looks so good that we don't even want to move the furniture back. Their work is detail-oriented and meticulous. They were very respectful of the other parts of our property that they had to move through, even though, those other parts are a dried up, dog wrecked mess. I would recommend Glacier View Landscape and Design without reservation for any project--they were definitely worth the wait! read more

Also, his price was SO much less the the bog boys. Extremely professional. Last... we lost a tree (kind of think it was the supplier's fault) and he reimbursed us for the tree's cost. I have been a registered landscape architect for 35 years and I am experienced in all phases of design and construction, and have worked with many landscape contractors over this time. You have to know 4 things about Glacier View landscape and Dave White the owner: 1) Dave White's integrity and professionalism was exposed as he was going to leave an egregious slope error in the construction of our 500 SF flagstone patio; 2) Dave White is more concerned about banging out a job than doing a job right; 3) We offered to have Dave White send potential customers to review our flagstone patio - he declined; 4) I would not recommend Dave White and Glacier View landscape to any of my clients. You can read on for more details. Dave and his crew have demonstrated they lack basic skills, knowledge, craftsmanship and attention to detail...nor do they use "best construction practices". Above all Dave White lacks integrity and professionalism as a business owner. We hired Dave White to install a covered, 500 SF flagstone patio off the back of our house, for $12,000. The design was a simple rectangle and was designed to drain (or slope) straight off the back of the patio, away from the house. As the new patio is covered and will have furniture on it, we wanted snow melt and rainwater to drain towards the back of the patio so as not soak the legs of our patio furniture. Dave White knew my expectations and was even very arrogant about how good a job his crew could do. However, Dave White and his crew failed. He could not implement the simple slope I designed. His crew had to tear out and redo a large portion of faulty work to correct a drainage issue. Above all, his integrity and professionalism was exposed as he was going to leave this egregious mistake had my wife and I not noticed the issue. Dave was more concerned about staying on schedule, had his crew take shortcuts and did not fully correct the drainage issue. I made the mistake and did not water test the patio. We expected a good faith effort and paid him in full. We trusted that he was a professional and had integrity to complete the project per the plan and our expectations. He will not correct the patio drainage. We are left with snow melt and rain soaking our patio furniture. Dave told us, "...just get a broom a sweep off the puddles". We offered to have Dave White send potential clients to our home to review his work. He declined. He has made excuses for his work since we first exposed his lack of integrity. We decided to not take the issue to court but to warn other homeowners. So please advised to water test your patio for positive drainage, in that water drains away from your house foundation, in the direction YOU want it. More importantly don't be fooled by the salesmanship of Dave White and don't hire Glacier View for any of your landscape needs. As homeowners, we expect to pay for professional work and craftsmanship. We don't have the knowledge, skills or time or we would do home improvements ourselves. There will always be contractors like Glacier View, I just can't believe I fell prey to one when I'm in the same business. Please find another landscape contractor to bid on your project. I wish I could recommend one. read more

Dave designed and built a beautiful timber retaining wall and steps to the upper level of our back yard, while coordinating with a new fence being installed adjacent to the retaining wall. Dave and crew were right on schedule, he stayed with the crew and worked with them throughout the project, and willingly made adjustments to the design as the project progressed.
