Convenient carts to move paddleboards and canoes to the water
    Michael T.

Nestled in Apgar Village of Glacier National Park is a super convenient spot for outdoor enthusiast gear of all kinds - Glacier Outfitters. Glacier Outfitters has much of the gear you might want for a day or a week immersed in nature. Want to paddle lazily across Lake McDonald? They've got kayaks and stand-up paddleboards. Feel like zipping through alpine forests on two wheels? They've got bikes. Hoping to reel in the catch of a lifetime in pristine streams? They've got fishing gear. Want to commune with nature on foot? They've got hiking gear and the all-important bear spray. They had enough staff to handle everything and waiting times weren't too long. The paddle boards we rented were in good shape. They had a convenient little cart to move them down to the lake. The rental rates are affordable enough to make adventuring accessible to travelers on most budgets. Whether you're a novice or a seasoned pro, visit Glacier Outfitters when adventuring in Glacier. They'll equip you with everything you need to craft your own adventure.

Had a Great experience renting a tandem kayak from Glacier outfitters. If you see everything is sold Out online, text their number. They always have walk in reservation available. They are very chill and won't try to nickel and dime you if you go over a few minutes. Staff was very friendly. Would recommend to rent from this place.

Rented a road bike for Going to the Sun and it was one of my top 10 favorite moments. The team at GO was great to work with and the bike was awesome. It was also great because my rental served as my reservation for the park since they are now ticketing and the lottery didn't work for me. Highly recommend using GO and doing this ride! Also on a separate day we rented bear spray. They went through a short safety training and we were on our way (luckily didn't have to use it though)!

Service was AWESOME! Everyone truly enjoyed their jobs, even early in the morning! The process of renting kayaks was easy and quick. The loading dock to Lake McDonald was pretty close and they provided wheels for easy-to-pull to docking area.

We rented kayaks from here to take to Lake Macdonald and had a great experience. First off, rent the kayaks for sure!!! It is honestly a must do in my opinion and was a pretty surreal experience for us who had never visited the park before. Definitely make reservations. As of July 2020, they do reservations for 9:30 am and then first come first serve for the rest of the day. The reservations make it easier so you don't have to wait and earlier is better because the water gets choppy in the afternoon. The kayaks are also super reasonably priced which was a great surprise. They even make it easy to bring the kayaks to the lake by putting them on wheels that are super easy to get on and off. On top of all that, everyone working for glacier outfitters was very friendly and able to help us get what we needed. If I'm ever in Glacier again I will absolutely be renting more kayaks from here.

    Awesome place with great folks!

Erin helped us and got us all set up with the perfect bike for me to go to Going To The Sun Road! She went above and beyond and was super helpful and nice and gave me great advice about Glacier. Highly recommend this place and you're lucky if you get Erin to help you

Hands down I would absolutely recommend this place for stay if you're coming to glacier. I'll admit…read moreI was a little bit hesitant in the beginning. Because usually I camp and I don't stay at a hotel/motel/bnb. However with that being said there's a full-on grocery store downstairs. There are cute cabins that I will in the future absolutely be renting. And I am staying in what they call the bluebird. It is a cute quaint little residence. It does not have a kitchenette however I intend on eating out while I'm here so I don't need a kitchenette. The bed is beautiful it's an old wooden type bed. It looks like it's from The Log Cabin era they're keeping it inform with the whole glacier National Park theme. Huge massive TV set in case you desire at the end of a day to kick back relax and watch them tv. It has a window that looks out into the forest area. And a cute little table set that actually has two stools in it and I like it so much I may buy something like that for my own residence. The accommodations are more than adequate. There's a futon couch in case you want to sleep four people in here. It comes with a bathtub and a shower and the air conditioning unit ductwork goes immediately to the outside so it's not one of those window units where you have to pull the window down and pin it in between and hope that the bugs don't come in it's not anything even close to that it literally goes to the outside and it's part of the wall. It's an upstairs unit which works fantastic for me. And it has a little patio area out front which I sit and have my coffee and watch the wildlife. The outside Courtyard area is super cute they really took a lot of time for attention and detail. Parking could not be any more convenient you're literally right in front of your own cabin. ADDITIONAL // They have Tesla charging stations here!! I believe they're the only one in Glacier that has this amenity. In addition, they have Tesla's that are brand spanking new and extremely clean inside that you can rent. How awesome is that!

Really disappointed with how we were treated here, especially after planning around this for weeks…read more This was our first time trying Basecamp Bigfork. We've rented kayaks from other places around the lake for years without issue, even in unpredictable weather, but this year we thought we'd try something new (don't). We had a reservation for the 4th and came fully prepared: rented a U-Haul to transport and store the kayaks, brought our own gear, safety lights, and had a secure location to store the boats overnight. We communicated clearly leading up to the reservation, repeatedly assuring them that we wouldn't go out unless the weather conditions improved. We were asking for the option to maybe go out if it cleared up. Instead, they cancelled the reservation last minute with no room for discussion. They kept bringing up that it was "getting too late," even though we were still within our scheduled time and in regular contact. It felt like they didn't trust us to make our own judgment call, and that was especially frustrating given how much planning we had done and how careful we were being. It completely derailed our holiday plans, and they showed no real effort to accommodate or even acknowledge that. No flexibility, just a blanket cancellation with a shrug. We've dealt with unpredictable Montana weather before and had a plan, but never with a company this rigid or dismissive.

Book Early - It's Amazing if you love nature and DOGS!…read more So, 3 years ago I called in early November to get a reservation for a half day dogsledding trip over Christmas week, and was told they were all booked up. So, when we decided over the summer to go to Whitefish for the holidays, I called and made a reservation (this was in August!). Seriously, it was at least 4 months in advance and I pretty much stalked them until I got confirmation that I had secured a reservation. Upon arriving in the Flathead Valley, I noticed how little snow there was and started to worry that the dogsledding would be canceled, but luckily, Mark texted that it was still on and he had a location that still had snow and we'd be fine. Thank goodness! Upon arrival, we were given a tour of the kennel, met the 6 dogs that were going to be our team, and loaded them up in the trailer. We got a bit of a lesson on how to manage the sled and then drove about 40 minutes south to an area that had a good amount of snow and got the dogs all harnessed up and off we went! There were two of us, so one of us was standing and driving the sled, and one of us was sitting as a passenger. We were able to switch out throughout the trip, so we both got to be the driver for a portion of the trip. When you are the passenger, you can take pictures and video, which is nice, but standing and driving the sled is the BEST part. We sledded down a road for quite a while, letting the dogs take breaks as needed. Mark, the owner of the company, managed the team by cross country skiing along side us the entire way to make sure the dogs behaved, gave us instruction and lead the way. It's quite amazing how much physical effort he puts in for you to have a great time - he basically exercises for two hour straight. The second half of the tour included heading into the back country, sledding through trees on a narrow trail. OMG - this was amazing! We stopped along the river and had hot chocolate, which was such a nice way to enjoy the scenery and let the dogs rest, take pictures and pet and kiss the dogs. If you are still debating if you should do this, I would say don't hesitate - DO IT. Especially if you are in good physical condition, enjoy outdoor activities and love dogs. It is such a unique and amazing day. Also, Mark is a fantastic guide, he makes it fun, light and he is so incredibly nice. The dogs are super sweet (although, they do get a bit rowdy and occasionally get into little tiffs with each other) and the scenery is outstanding. I seriously had a smile on my face the entire time, laughing continuously as we went through the trees. We had a blast and I'm so grateful we got to experience this day, it was the highlight of our trip. Last note, I wasn't sure what to wear. I would dress like you are going skiing. Since sometimes you are sitting, you get a bit more chilly, so dress in layers. I had on Sorel winter snow boots, ski pants, thermal underwear top and bottom, a fleece and a puffer jacket, along with warm ski socks, a warm hat and my ski gloves. If it is a really cold day, I'd get those hand warmers and foot warmer things that you can put in your boots and gloves.
