This is such a wonderful place in Berkely Springs. For a small entry fee (I believe it was $7-8), you get all day access to stay, play, and cuddle with the cats. All the cats are very friendly and were super affectionate. There are two floors to spend your time -- the first floor is all adult cats, and also where the gift shop is located. The second floor holds more space to play with the adult cats, as well as a separate, sectioned off kitten room. When we were there, the kitten room was very full of guests, so we stuck to the other areas with the adult cats. The staff was so kind and knowledgable. They will tell you about any of the many cats that are walking around, including their names, personalities, and story. The gift shop proceeds go to keeping the cats there at the rescue, so of course, we bought some small toys to bring home to our cat. It is so admirable to see a group committed to rescuing these beautiful cats! read more

A harbor for furry felines, this non-profit pet "rescue" has dozens of purry friends for you to adopt! There was a small entry fee, which goes to support the cats' well being. I will say the smell was a bit much! I think they could do a better job with cleaning and such, but I'm sure it's a lot to keep up with. Nice friendly staff, very knowledgeable and pleasant. There are some feline themed gifts for sale, I bought some kitty eared headbands! The cats were adorable and I enjoyed spending some time getting to know their personalities! This is the first, and probably last, cat cafe I've visited. The service was good, the people are super friendly and they care about the cats and they try to keep it clean but with 38 cats it's not so easy. My kids enjoyed their time and the kittens were sweet. Some rescues liked being secluded which is understandable. The price was a little high at 10$ per adult but they do have to take care of all the cats. All in all it was an ok place. As a non cat person I wouldn't go back but my kids would. read more

We had a great time here! You pay the entry fee but can come in and out during the day. There is a main floor with the majority of the cats, and then upstairs there is a "quiet room" for cats that need their own space and a kitten room. The staff/owner working was very friendly and obviously cared a lot about cats. It was a bit hard to identify cats- there was one I was a bit interested in in the quiet room, but although they try to put a list up with names, a description, and the color of the collar, we couldn't quite figure out which cat it was. But it was fun to hang out and play with the cats and see this awesome home-turned-cat shelter. A lot of fun! read more

I am honestly flabbergasted at the positive reviews. It was $26 for me, my friend and my 7 year old to enter. Absolutely wouldn't not have parted with the $ if I hadn't promised my daughter some cats. We were told we could stay as long as we wanted, but who could stomach the overwhelming cat urine smell for more than a few minutes? It was not clean, so thank god it isn't actually a cafe. Stopped by to play with the cats and it was very pleasant. I wish I had a place like this near home, to make adopting a cat easier. It was $10 for adults to go in to hang out with cats and kittens for as long as you'd like to stay in the day. Adult cats were downstairs, kittens were upstairs. They had a clever system with different collar colours giving you clues about the cats. The cats were pretty social and it was fun to be with them. This place does a good job getting cats adopted, and I love that you can spend quality time with the free roaming cats to see how they might fit with you. The staff know their cats there well, and cared very much for them. Note that this not a cat "cafe" since there is no food served. Definitely worth supporting for these cuties! read more

I'm not sure if $10 per adult and $6 for my 1 year old was really worth it. But staff was so kind. We visited the kitten room and spent quite a while in it. However, there's a live stream of the kitten room during the day. There's a small sign on the door I missed going in, no biggie but should be mentioned upon entry. There were tons of rooms and toys for the sweet cats and kittens to enjoy. Overall reasoning for this non-profit is absolutely amazing. I was never so insulted in my life. After filling out the application and saying that I would like to adopt three cats. They decided on their own because I have a disability that they should be able to make the decision that I should only be eligible to take home one adult cat. I love this place so much, I've gone multiple times and the workers and cats are wonderful, although it isn't an actual cafe and it's just cats it's great. It costs money to go in but it's definitely worth it, also if you want to leave and come back later you don't have to pay again which I think is great if you want to get food or something and come back. They take great care of all of the cats and can tell you the names and info about each cat which tells you they really care. Wait a sec ...they want me to PAY to look at CATS for adoption? Yes, and it's not as crazy as it sounds. The funds go towards maintaining the place, and if you're like us, you'll stay more than long enough to make it worthwhile. We went with a few tweenage kids (old enough to behave, young enough to want to take home ALL the kitties), and we had a nice chill time. We got a sense of each feline resident's personality and had some stories and memories by the end. Word of warning, you will get hit with a wall of cat piss smell, but you'll get used to it soon enough; the kitties are charming to make up for it. read more

A small donation gets you all day play with 40 cats and kittens! I had such a good time here hanging with the cats and the lady on duty was awesome, friendly, and funny. I was very surprised to learn that the largest cat cafe in North America is located in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia. This is a large Victorian house located just three blocks from the center of Berkeley Springs, within easy walking distance of the hot springs. There are 26 cats who live here, and for a flat fee of $7 you can spend as much time with the cats as you'd like. My wife and I spent about an hour and a half here and loved every second of it. The adult cats (which freely roam the entire two story house) are very well socialized and loving. They will come up to you, meow at you, cuddle with you, jump on your lap. The kittens are kept in a separate area: they have two rooms to themselves that are kittens-only, no adult cats allowed. The kittens are very playful, and two of them crawled into my wife's lap and promptly fell asleep. The cats come from local cat shelters and almost all of them are available for adoption. Unlike cat cafes in Japan, you cannot feed the cats here. The staff leaves food and water out for them. On the plus side, this means that when the cats go up to you, it's not because they just want to beg for food. In the cat cafe I went to in Tokyo, it was clear that the cats just saw the human visitors as a source of food, and it was a very different vibe here. You cannot eat in the same area as the cats. They have a separate area where you can eat (there is a food truck parked outside, or you can get food from any of the nearby restaurants) and you can see the cats through plexiglass in the dining area. However, we didn't see anyone eating here: people would much rather just play with the kitties! Overall, this was a wonderful surprise. If you like cats, this is a must-see while you are in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia. read more

The staff and cats were all sociable and they made you feel at home. It did not smell of cats or cat litter at all. The entry is a dual door so you can't enter the home with out closing the door behind you first. There are two floors of cats and the kittens are located upstairs. The cats seem well taken care off and each is tagged with their names. Above the fireplace is the adoption wall. I had a great visit with wife, mother in law and their grandma. This is the only cat cafe in the area! They are so reasonably priced, $7 will get you in all day (unless they are at capacity and then it goes to 2 hours). They have lots of adult cats and a kitten room. Everyone there is so personable and helpful. They know all the cats names and can tell you any particular cats disposition. The cats are sweet, well socialized. And even though there's a lot of cats in the house, it's super clean and no cat box smell. They don't have a traditional cafe, but trey do have a food truck outside. You can also apply to adopt a cat if you're so inclined. Loved this place! read more
