First trip here to Giuseppe's Pastacaffe. Order at the counter and they bring your food to your table. Ambience is lunch counter with Sinatra on the sound system. If you give it a few minutes you'll start to think you're in a place in Little Italy waiting for one of the Sopranos to walk in. Nice. Very gracious host and very quick service for lunch. Our server was really efficient and sweet. She even helped identify the photo on the wall (one of many showing famous people eating spaghetti) of Marcello Mastroianni, a famous actor from the 60's. Wife thought he was James Dean. The pasta is obviously homemade and perfectly al dente. Meatballs are large and luscious with just the right amount of garlic and spice. I was surprised at the color of the gravy but it was fantastic, just enough sweet garlic and tomato flavor to linger in the mouth. We had the in-house garlic bread. The bread is infused with real garlic and is tender and just enough chew to be satisfying. The crust is crunchy and has a mild smoky flavor. My only complaint for the whole experience was the warm baked bread came with a pat of FROZEN butter. A little jarring but the bread was warm enough to melt it a little, eventually. We got to-go boxes and took home as much as we ate. Get extra bread to go, it's that good (bring your own warm butter). This is very small hidden gem in Shreveport. I drove past it 3 times before finding it. FYI Is in a business building with red canopy. It's small on the inside and they indoor/outdoor dining (atrium) . Customer service was super friendly and are great with recommendations if you're unsure. I was guided towards their homemade lasagna and boy did it deliver especially with the homemade pasta. Kids plates were pretty big coffee is very strong FYI and they sell pasta by the pound. Found a piece of metal wire in our takeout food. Emailed the restaurant not expecting a refund but at least a reply. Nothing. Quality has been diminishing over the years and with mistakes like foreign objects in your food, probably will not be long before they are either sued or closed. read more

I usually have no complaints about Giuseppe's and have written positive reviews in the past but the last two times I have eaten here the quality has been a missed. Today I got the lemon/salmon ravioli (the daily special $23 dollars with tax) was such a disappointment, especially at that price. The filling was very uneven and most of the pasta had almost no filling, in fact 2 of my ravioli had zero filling. Pasta undercooked. Flavor okay, overly strong lemon with no balance at all. It was also somehow cold despite me waiting 15 minutes for it at the restaurant. Where is the quality control? Had I not ordered it to go and realized much too late after I was already home I would have definitely sent this back. Pretty sad for the money. This little Pastacaffe is just too cute! It's in an office building and looks very unassuming from the outside, but inside it's all white and bright! You walk in, order at the counter and they will bring the food to your table. Portions are very generous here! They make all of the pastas and sauces in house. They also have rotating specials and there is always a special ravioli. You can also buy pasta buy the pound to cook at home! I ordered a kids sized rigatoni with pomodoro sauce. They normally don't let adults order off the kids menu, but the waitress was very kind. The kids is slightly less than a small and is probably about 4 oz of fresh pasta. The pasta is so delicious, soft, and velvety! The pomodoro sauce has nice pieces of tomato and julienned basil pieces throughout. It was so flavorful, no need for salt or pepper! I would give this place closer to 3.5 stars. I went to Giuseppe's for dinner. The atmosphere is nice and cozy. The place is clean, well kept, and family friendly. This is a counter service restaurant with friendly staff. The menu keeps true to traditional Italian pasta roots of simple ingredients for flavorful food. We ordered the Tagiolini and Bucatini large portion. Each dish came to around $13. The tagiolini was flavorful with a nice earthy mushroom taste; however, the cream felt quite heavy after a while. The bucatini was served with a simple tomato sauce that is infused with bacon. The sauce was pretty good but lacked the extra depth of flavor. If you're a meat lover, you will be disappointed with the amount of meat in the pasta. The pasta here is cooked more well done than al dente. Overall, I'd say it was an enjoyable meal despite being slightly pricey for what it is. read more

This restaurant has a serious problem of not being welcoming or customer friendly. I work in the building, so I've been a handful of times, just because it's convenient, and every single time I've had issues with the service. First, at the counter, no one ever explains the specials, or goes over options, or asks if you want side salads or breads - they basically stare at you, mute, until you order. And for heaven sakes, don't take too long making up your mind, or you get the irritated scowl. If you order tea, you're handed a glass and are expected to serve your own tea - but no one ever tells you where the tea dispensers are, so you have to ask. There is no communication, no helpfulness. This last trip, I sat out in the atrium. When my order arrived, the waitress who brought out my pasta never said anything, never asked if I needed anything, and didn't bring any silverware or napkins. She just sat the bowl down and left. She was gone before I could catch her, so I had to get up and go in search of silverware. I found some of the plastic to-go forks just inside the door. The waitress also never came back out to check on me, or ask if I wanted more tea. And during this time, I could see the waitstaff through the glass all standing around, talking and laughing, and not doing their jobs. That's just the latest episode. I've had issues with the waitstaff not doing their job, and not being friendly, every time I've been to this place. Honestly, the sense you get is that they don't care if you're there or not - and it's too much of a bother to bring silverware or ask about refills. The restaurant needs to replace every one of them, and start over with people who actually know how to waitress - or at least know how to smile and be pleasant. read more

While visiting Shreveport, I was craving some pasta and decided to try out Giuseppe's after finding it on Yelp. First of all, it was sort of hard to find the location using my GPS. It's on the side of the office building with a red awning in case you can't find it. Turn by the liquor store and you'll see it on the right. Since it was lunch time, I was hoping to get a pasta and salad. They do have a lunch combo for $10 for a pasta and side salad, but you can only get one pasta. I didn't want a cream-based pasta, so I decided to order a pasta and side salad separately. My total ended up being around $18, which is more than I'd want to normally spend for lunch, especially at a fast casual place. I think they should definitely expand their lunch options. I took a seat, and my salad came out in a few minutes. The side salad included lettuce, tomatoes, croutons, shaved parm and prosciutto with a lemon vinaigrette. The salad was just okay for me. There was a large amount of dressing floating in the bottom of the bowl, which was unappealing. I didn't love the flavor of the dressing. I think I would order a different salad if I returned. For my entree, I ordered the bucatini alla'Amatriciana. I really enjoyed the fresh pasta. It rode a fine line between undercooked and al dente, but it was still good. There was a very large amount of sauce, which made it almost soupy like the salad. The overall flavor was good, but I think it needed more spice and could benefit from being braised and reduced for a longer time for more depth of flavor. It was also a little difficult to eat as others have said based on the type of bowl they use. Overall the pasta was good, but definitely not the best pasta dish I've ever had. Giuseppe's offers a variety of salads, pastas, and sandwiches. I liked their variety of offerings but found it to be a bit overpriced for the overall quality. I would consider going back if I lived in Shreveport, but I would probably order something different. read more

And so we decided to try this place by a food delivery service. Just in the mood for Italian food and did not feel like cooking. The food was delivered fast and hot and that was a good thing. The driver was sweet and friendly. Sadly, that was the only good part of the whole experience. The pomadera dish did not seem to have any garlic in it, when the garlic mentioned in the menu was very prominent and that is why I ordered it. And not as many diced tomatoes in the dish to help offset the overly dry pasta. The pasta just did not taste fresh and mopist as it did when we used to eat at that sit down restaurant on Line Ave. A real let down. And the Bucateria?? dish just as much a let down. In that case it was the pasta for the most part. Dry and not fresh tasting like we remembered and the homemade pasta was one of the main reasons we used to love the old place. Also not enough anything topping the dry pasta. I guess things change. Sad. So we will continue going to Chianti for our special nights and Antonios has just set up in the old Giuseppes so we will be trying that place soon. Hopefully it will be really good Italian.
