While this small (only 12 or so rooms) motel is a bit out dated, it's one if the cleanest places that I've ever stayed at (eby - even before Yelp :-D ). The staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast is the standard Continental affair. Being old school (or, maybe just old, ugh), I was surprised that being an independent place, they didn't have cash discounts. So, to me, the price of $96 seems a bit high to me for a bare-bones place like this. Also, something they do that I wasn't happy to see: they write your c/c and CVV numbers down in case of damage to the room. I just hope they destroy it to where it can't be used. The motel is well-appointed, with recently renovated "deluxe" rooms as well as regular rooms. I've only stayed in the deluxe rooms, which were very comfortable and perfectly clean. All rooms share a large covered deck between them and the parking lot, providing great shelter in bad weather and a nice place to sit and chill in good weather. There is ample parking with room for larger vehicles and trailers. The motel is pet friendly and chargers a modest $15 pet fee. Be sure to let them know if you have a pet when you're booking. Staff is very friendly and the housekeeper even shared a story about how the motel was the filming site of the movie The Horse Whisperer. Cool!

Joliet is a small town on the way to one of the entrances to Yellowstone Park. There are no big-name hotels in this area, so you need to rely on the small-town often family-run businesses. Botts is that! You can't even make a reservation online. You have to call. How old school is that? But I like it. It's the personal touch. The fun thing about these small, non-chain places, is how unusual the rooms can be. This was no exception. When I walked in, there was a table for working with the coffee maker, the bed -- the usual, on the other side was the entrance to the very large bathroom. The room was set up as an L-shape and around the corner from the bathroom entrance, was a mini-living room. Two chairs, one a recliner, facing the large tv. Seriously? How amazing is that? The bed was good, comfortable, the pillows were okay -- but probably need a refresh, the wi-fi was good, the room was quiet, although I could hear the people in the room next to me who were having a good time yelling at the football game on their tv -- at least until it was over and then it was so quiet and the curtains kept the room so dark, that I overslept the next morning. It was a good day.
