The Fort. What a perfect name for this place. Is it a gas station? Yes. Convenience store? Double yes. Gun store? Well, yes. Liquor store? Yup. Craft boutique? You guessed it, yes. There's so much stuff packed into this building that you could really get just about anything you need. And then a few things you don't need, too! The employees are knowledgeable and welcoming. We're on a road trip from Minnesota to Oregon, and it turns out Big Timber is almost exactly the midpoint! We needed both gas and to stretch our legs, so The Fort-- self-proclaimed two-story gift shop-- sounded like the perfect place to do both. My husband and I are suckers for kitchsy browsing, and this place tickled us plenty. Home decor, kids toys, guns and ammo, snacks and booze, apparel, journals and puzzles. It's a miracle I walked out only $40 poorer, lol. The store is broken up into multiple sections, so make sure you check out at the appropriate counter. Gas price was fine, bathrooms were clean, employees were kind. Nice little stop out in open. read more

My daughter and I took a road trip from Washington to Indiana on 8/22/20 and stopped by to fuel up. I was very impressed with the extensive stock of guns and ammo available. This establishment is family owned and in operation more than 28 years. Staff are friendly, coffees always hot and ready for us. This is where we stop everyone we're headed into the Boulder! read more

What an all around fun place to be! Please stop if you're driving through Big Timber. I found a fabulous leather gun concealing purse there, my husband found fishing equipment and my son loved the food. It was fun to shop and the people who work there are super nice, helpful and happy! That says a lot! read more

There's not much around the area but it's the best place to stop in town they have really interesting souvenirs and candy plus a lot more. read more

Stopped in here to get some gas and check out what the local fly fishing report was. Headed up to the Boulder River and got some good tips on flies. Prices were great to. Awesome staff to help even the non locals. read more

It's a convenience store, so there's not much to expect beyond that, but it's a good one to stop at if you need to stretch your legs, fill up the tank, grab something to eat or drink, and be on your way. The gift store area is lovely, the bathrooms are very clean, and the shelves are well-stocked. Every time we're driving through we make a point to stop. read more

The outdoor part of The Fort rivals any sportsman's store. The selection of firearms is amazing with competitive prices. The gift shop has everything from fun little gifts to quality items you'd buy for a loves one. You can pretty much get whatever you need. Just an overall great place to visit. read more
