However, every time I go there, it is definitely worth the effort, and who would mind to walk 40 minutes on a sunny day? The place looks beautiful and simple - it does not try to be something it is not, it's just a lovely neighbourhood coffee with high-quality food and pretty good coffee. Once I had a chicken and bacon sandwich, that tasted as delicious as it sounds. Another time I had the pasta with tomato and bacon sauce, also a very tasty dish. When you are lucky, you can even get the single table outside in the afternoon sun. While I do not like the metal table and chair - the wooden furniture inside is much nicer - having lunch in the sun is too good to be put off by a table and a chair. Aston & Magill is definitely one of those places that I just liked as soon as I walked in. Staff are friendly and funny, and the quality of the food is great. They could be a bit quicker though. At my first visit, I've also noticed that I probably need to get used to hanging out outside of central London - while I was sitting outside, a girl, most likely an arts student, dropped some drawings on the empty chair at my table outside and asked me if I could watch her stuff for a few minutes. Later she came back, picked her drawings up and walked away.
