Giovanni's use to be bomb, back in the days when it was an Italian restaurant! Now it's an Italian & Mexican food, I don't see how those two foods go well together. Local mom and pop shop run by the couple and their family. Small little spot always warm and welcoming. The pizza dough is made in house and you can def taste it. The torpedo sandwiches are my favorite here! You have to eat them inside or at the restaurant, if you take them to go the bread will lose its soft crunch. The pasta is fanatic. read more

I came by this place on Monday, June 1st, 2020 and ordered the Mexican Specialty Pizza and the Chorizo pizza. I gotta say, they both had a very impressive taste. I called on a regular lunch hour and had my order taken down quickly. The price was reasonable. Especially, if you put into consideration the type and amount of toppings they add to the pizzas. ($20/large pizza, in case any one was wondering.) When I got there I was kindly greeted by the staff. Just a heads up, this is a CASH ONLY pizzeria! I made the mistake of not checking but luckily work nearby. Again, pizza tasted really good and had a nice kick! I would be very interested to see how it would taste if I had some Crema Salvadoreña (Central American Sour Cream) 'cause I felt like it would have completed the taste for both pizzas. Found this spot on our way home. We ordered an X-large pizza. The pizza was yummy Taste perfectly home made. Our pizza took 20 minutes to make, It was a one man show. We got our sodas and chilled. The owner was sweet and courteous. Great little hole in the wall pizza joint that also served tortas, tacos, calzone, lasagna and a few other items. When they say 20 minutes. They really mean 20 minutes so take your time. This place is really a solid 3 stars but I love mom and pop places and this one is run by a real Mexican pop. I ordered the spaghetti with meatballs but the meatballs are sliced so it should really be called meat slices. Overall, this place was a quick fix for my spaghetti craving. The total was $8.99 with tax, which I thought was pretty expensive for just that but it came with a side salad and a loaf of garlic bread. It wasn't amazing. Very Very basic flavors. It really tasted like something my mom could whip up in you guessed it 20 minutes but the portions are really big and the location is right by our new warehouse so I shall be back. The location is really jinky ..next to a cambio place so you know you're in santana. Most of my reviews are bias because I put into consideration the people who own the place too. Giovanni's is a small place and I wouldn't recommend you plan on dining in since they have like 4 tables at most. Either call in your order and have it delivered or drive over and pick it up. Today I ordered a medium calzone since I guess I must have been feeling extra hungry at lunch. Well it turns out their medium size was more than I could eat. I ate 1/3 of it and I know I was full even before I ate that much but it was so darn tasty I had to keep eating, lol. The dough was amazing, great taste and texture. VERY nice staff! they didn't seem rude or annoyed by my question asking (I called and was just asking questions since I didn't know this place at all) The ingredients they use are VERY good and the quality of the pizza seems great for the price... BUT I had ONE issue that kept me from giving 5 stars... The crust on the bottom got a bit too baked/burnt. It didn't taste or look burnt whatsoever, but the bottom crust was just too hard, but the ingredients tasted very good.... they probably just messed up my one. I also ordered a banana milkshake... and they recommended a chocolate banana... and it was REALLY good and would recommend :) So I'm definitely going to be coming back to try the other stuff, and hopefullythe crust will be cooked better on my next pie ;) read more
