As the sign in the wondow states the ladies here have been producing top quality confestionary for 30 years and show no signs of abaiting. Not to be trapped down memory lane, the website reveals how they make their cakes in wheat free and dairy free ranges for all these fussy modern eaters - it's cake! it should have loads of butter and flour! But I also noticed that their website boasts a letter from Frank Cottrell Boyce, one of our cities best playwrite and screenwriter who aptly points out that Dafna's is like a trip back in time for your tastebuds. They aren't just limited to cheesecakes if I haven't pointed out as the ladies here also d a mean selection of preserves and accompaniments to there flans, tarts and slices and housed in what could be your nan's larder.

If you like cakes, cheesecakes, desserts or quiches this place is an absolute must! Dafna specialises in producing quality cakes, all made using non-commercial recipes, and utilising domestic kitchen equipment. There is a huge range of cheesecakes, the most popular product, available in ten different flavours - I didn't even know it was possible to do that! Honestly, I was like a kid in a candy shop... I think it's practically witchcraft! Alongside the magical cheesecakes, Dafna sells a range of dietary specific foods such as wheat-free and dairy-free cakes. There is also vegetarian meals and Belgian chocolates on offer. The prices are definitely higher than what you would find in a supermarket or grocery store but the quality of the food is absolutely incomparable! Quiches come at around £7 and cakes are around £10 on average, and the famous cheesecakes about £9 for a large.

Just as I thought that I was about to enter some Willy Wonka-esque trip down a childhood road of dreams I discovered this was really only a card shop opposite Asda. For all their signs offering Frederick's ice cream - who? - it was still only a stationery shop with a fridge and a few tubs of ice cream. People need to think on before getting sensitive chubsters like myself so geared up for treats.

A place like this is a nice change within the consumer scene of Liverpool, somewhere independent small and still managing to retain its' innocence. They do all the classic flavours aswell as some special one such as my favourite which is bubble gum an interesting fusion of flavours which shouldnt work but doesnt. The service here is excellent the staff care, which makes a fantastic change to the norm and in general here you are given a wonderful experience. Small and well run and fun for kids and grown up this place can tempt me at any time of year and the prices wont hurt your pocket either. It is such a delight to see a place like this which is open all year round and sticks two fingers up to the british weather and offers you a summery treat not matter what the season. Overall this place has got it spot on !

Opening 9am til 11pm seven days a week, Milo is probably the hardest working venue on Lark Lane too. I can't think of another business in this area that serves breakfast through to late night cocktails - if you wanted to you could probably live here! The menu is a eclectic mix of posh American diner-esque fare like 'triple stacked' buttermilk pancakes for breakfast and the frankly outrageously good Hero hamburger and a sort of Mediterranean (ever had a 'Spanish Butty' for breakfast - you should try it!) and British gastro pub fusion (the posh fish finger sandwich and Winter vegetable risotto are other favourites of mine). As for the desserts...approach with caution. They are not for the faint hearted. You'll feel like you need a bit of a lie down after the sticky toffee pudding. The wine choice is pretty good and there is an interesting mix of beers, both bottled and on draught. There is also a refreshingly concise list of classic cocktails (some with a twist) and an impressive and classy collection of whiskeys and gins. The Loungers interior style fits in perfectly to the Lark lane vibe with its flock wallpaper, retro photos and prints and shabby chic furniture. Only a few weeks after it first opened it already felt like this place had been here for years. A mention must also be made of the always friendly and helpful staff who help to make a visit to Milo a very pleasant experience all round. Highly recommended.

You can pick whatever combination of chocolate bars, sweets, biscuits, cakes and cereals, handmade fudge, jelly beans in your shake. Whipped cream for 40p if all this isn't enough. If you would rather have a traditional thick shake then this is also catered for - almond, blackcurrant, passion fruit, pineapple, peach and many more. Dairy free (organic soya milk and soya ice cream) is also available - they have thought of everything, which I am really pleased about. Alternatives are available if you don't want a shake, smoothies, solo juices and fusion juices are popular. Not bad prices, but if they were dirt cheap I would question the quality and also would be at least a stone heavier. So it keeps me from having too many of them.

This place is a bit of fun within the very refined surroundings it is situated in and is a great place to stop for a drink. The produce is actually very nice indeed and their smoothies in particular are very impressive. The place feels relaxed and a lot of fun which is exactly as it should be. The staff are very friendly and they are great at helping you choose if you are unsure and unlike some places they do not try to direct you towards the most expensive product. I really enjoyed my trip to this establishment and came away with a big smile on my face and in my eye that means that they've got the job done. If you have children then take them for the shakes, but if you are a big kid like me then you should check it out as well.
