When I think about England (I'm an expat), I think of little tea shops and café's like T-Junction. It's the kind of place where you can sit down and have a chat with your postman over tea and toast before catching the train to work--in the kind of town where the postman knows your name. It's also fun to sit there and listen to people chat. Naturally you're going to get cheap, semi greasy food here, but it's all good stuff if you love traditional British toast and tea, or bacon butties.
