From what we learned, Moose is a small chain around the UK, and known for its hearty North American-inspired menu. Definitely true - the menu had plenty of US classics like benedicts, pancakes, waffles, and hash dishes. I was actually surprised by how many things were available, as the cafe itself wasn't all that big. Small enough even that we couldn't even get a seat inside! No problem at all though, as we were instead able to sit in their outside area which lined a cute cobblestone alley, adjacent to some shops. I've said it before, and I'll say it again for the typical American traveler... in England, do NOT expect service to be what you're used to. You'll certainly wait to be tended too, and the visits from a server are very limited. In no way do I mean this as a complaint, it's actually kind of nice to not feel rushed and practice patience :) All in all, the staff who did take care of us were very sweet! My husband had an americano and I enjoyed my flat white (I swear I've loved every coffee I've ever had during England trips). For food I got the lula puebla, which was a fancy avo toast. The smashed avocado was fresh and well-seasoned, and the toasted sourdough it was smeared across was so thick and delicious. Even more delicious was the chipotle chilli jam that came atop of it. It also had feta, chilli flakes, and two poached eggs. I was definitely a fan! My husband also really liked his eggs benedict that included griddled Serrano ham. I know, I know, travel all this way only to have a US-style breakfast but hey it did the trick! Wouldn't hesitate to pop in another Moose location in the future.

I also do not associate them at all with dinner so I really did not know what to expect at the Bagel Shop. What you get is a really tempting menu with bagels that are substantial meals, especially when paired with the topped fries (this will take you over £10 though, so if you're short of cash pop in on Mon/Tues for their awesome 50% deal). I had the - bestseller - grill melt and it seems like they are totally fine with you asking for something to be left out, so I skipped the pickle. The salt beef is just fantastic and the whole thing (involving cheese, jalapenos, rocket and house sauce and mustard) came together absolutely beautifully - decadent with a great kick. All the fries were nice but I think my fave was the eat new york fries - with blue cheese sauce. The angel fries, with truffle, are also really nice but not an obvious combo with the more classic meaty American fare - perhaps good with some of the fish/seafood dishes. I'm really looking forward to coming back, perhaps to try more on the menu but tbh I just want a repeat of what I ate last time. Btw the desserts are massive and decadent - I had a deep fried blueberry pie which I denied having the capacity to eat then completely demolished. The sundaes looked great too. OH I NEARLY FORGOT they have the holy grail of drinks: a root beer float. Plus their own beer on tap!

Really impressed with everything at The Bagel Shop: quantity, quality, value, service, atmosphere…read more We dined on a 50% off deal which honestly made it quite ridiculously cheap, it's still a very affordable option full price. I had a pint of the house lager which was fine, and a Reuben bagel which was incredible. Much less handle-able than other bagels ordered by my dining companions ie the grill melt, due to the sheer amount of pastrami. The amount of meat that fell out while I was eating it could have filled a whole other bagel. It was really delicious, though I've already set my sights on the Little Italy bagel for my next trip. I must have breaded mozzarella and gorgonzola mayo. The bagel ganoush also looks excellent with both tempura aubergine and baba ganoush. I reckon this place isn't super vegan friendly simply because of the amount of meat on offer, but if you're vegan and end up here anyway, it's great that there's a (really delicious sounding) option! Between 5 of us we shared all four kinds of fries and some frickles (deep fried pickles). One million more frickles please. All the fries were good, and I'd probably agree with Natalie W that the Eat New York fries were top banana. I wanted deep fried apple pie but as they were out of apple, I had to have deep fried cherry pie instead. What an awful shame. I mean really. This was an absolute brick of decadent food and I could already feel the faintly queasy regretful feeling of over indulgence setting in while eating it... But I couldn't stop. And as soon as I woke up the next morning I was craving more deep fried pie. Uh oh. Really couldn't fault anything about this place, I'd highly recommend and I'll certainly return!

I was very dissapointed with Bagel Nash on my recent experience at their Spinningfields branch,…read moredespite making a great first impression on the store. I visited on a Saturday, 5 minutes before closure, the staff seemed friendly and not counting down the hours until they closed, they was one woman doing the serving, and a man doing the bagels. I ordered a Smoked Salmon Gluten free bagel, mentioning I was going to take it away. The woman who served me seemed great, she shown me the gluten free menu and was very clued up on cross-contamination. She even let me take the newspapers on the side, meaning I got The Guardian and The Telegraph - Bonus! This is a nice store and it was definitely a 3 star place already unless something drastic happened, even despite the £4.20 price tag which was pricey, and I never thought I'd be handing out a very generous 2 to this place. I had a nice chat with the woman behind the counter, while the man made my bagel! They bagged it up great for me, and I told them I planned to eat it later, so when I got home I unwrapped it, ready to try my salmon bagel but disaster struck - It was Mexican Chicken! The toppings were not great quality, the chicken was rubbery, the jalepeons were too spicy and the lettuce just tasted cheap, the bagel tasted okay but it was simply dry, especially as I had to take off most of the toppings, the chicken was just edible. The staff seemed good in dealing with my complaint and I will hopefully be coming back soon to give them another chance as it is a nice place and the staff are good, but still communication lacks, I constantly said "Smoked Salmon", the man heard me ready to do my bagel, and she even told him that too, so how he done the wrong one is beyond me. I shouldn't have to check everything before I take it home, I expect it to be right and up to a good standard, therefore I feel this place deserves one star, but I have decided to be a little generous as the staff here are nice and they did have a few free newspapers for me to take!

And you never see the same people, it's all just people on the go, not really going anywhere. Spinningfields branch however is much better. It's got a lovely location right in the middle of Spinningfields, plenty of seating both indoor and outdoor and more importantly, you want to sit there. The bagels are really good, they have a huge range starting from breakfast bagels to classic bagels to gormet bagels. My favourite has to be to the breakfast melt bagel...amazing! Pricey at £3.95 for a bagel but I've tried to re-create it at home and it can't be done! Staff are always polite and friendly and more than happy to go along with any special requests you might have.

The toasted bagels always taste like they've been warmed for 20 seconds rather than grilled or toasted and the bagels themselves are too doughy and flavourless. With the exception of the cream cheese and gherkins, the portions are usually tight-fisted too and the ingredients taste dry like they were sliced hours ago. In short, the good souls at Murray's Bagels in New York would cry if they ordered anything here!

I didn't think the bagel was terrible, either, a totally acceptable amount of filling. It wasn't toasted very long but as I had to not miss the next train I didn't mind - I am sure you can ask for it to be toasted more if you want. It's definitely a nice change from the chilled sandwiches/baguettes otherwise proliferating unappealingly in Piccadilly! Also this set me up well for the fact that the next train ended up in some sidings in the Hope Valley behind a freight train making me catastrophically and ultimately irreparably late.

I called in Bagel Nash today after a negative experience at their Spinningfields store last week,…read morewhere they gave me the wrong bagel. I spoke to SImone on the store, who works at both branches and she was nice enough to speak to the manager and let them know they owe me a free bagel! Just to confirm, I've not received anything free for writing this review and it was only because they got me the wrong bagel last time! This store was much busier than Spinningfields, mainly with it being inside the Manchester Arndale. They had a nicer, wider range of drinks here including San Pelegrino and some nice iced teas, however the range of newspapers was a lot poorer, despite a newsagents selling them just across the way! Luckily I bumped into the person who served me last time at their Spinningfields branch, because of the opening times and that both stores are so close to each other, most staff seem to work at both. She was once again really nice, and apologized for the mishap and made sure I got my free bagel to make up for it. To be fair, it still wasn't free having originally paid £4.20 for the Mexican Chicken bagel, I could not eat as it was disgusting. My Salmon bagel was quite nice, they put on a nice range of salmon, mayo and the lemon, and it made the bagel taste quite nice. It was a decent portion size and was a nice, enjoyable gluten free snack, which normally are hard to get hold of. It wasn't perfect, for example on its' own the bagel would have tasted poor and dry, and the salmon did have a chewier part and a few bones (or something like that). As I said, the waitress who served me here was quite nice, but most of the other staff sadly were not as good, luckily the woman who served me last week stepped in, or I probably wouldn't have got my food they promised. 3 stars as it is average, perhaps just above average but still not warranting 4 stars yet. The price of the bagels normally is a little to expensive too, especially with gluten free costing an extra 60p! UPDATE: A huge decline on quality, where my recent Tuna Mayo Gluten-free bagel was bland and hard, with poor service too, with staff seeming rushed and rude yet service time still taking longer than I'd like too are a big factor in making this place suffer a huge downgrade, sadly it is one to a single one-star rating.
