The first time I took my son here for a cut, the quality of the cut was less than desirable. The…read moresecond time, with a different stylist, the quality was better but still not impressive. The third time, with yet another different stylist, my son received THE ABSOLUTE WORST haircut I have ever seen in my life. And I believe it was intentional (even though the business denies it). When I called to make both appointments 2 and 3, I requested to not have the first stylist that cut his hair. Unfortunately, when I called to schedule the third appointment, the person who answered the phone was in fact stylist #1. So I had to very awkwardly tell her that I did not want to be scheduled with her. Another stylist had been recommended to me, so I asked if she was available. She said she wasn't there but she would have her call me. In the meantime, in order to ensure I had an appointment with someone, she scheduled me with the stylist that was for sure available on the day I wanted to bring my son in. I never received a phone call from the stylist I requested, so I called the day of my appointment to confirm the appointment with the available stylist. I was told that stylist went home for the day and they had no record of my appointment. The person answering the phone (who I believe was in fact the stylist I was scheduled with), said she would call me back in 20 minutes to let me know if I still had an appointment scheduled. She never called. I called back again and she said she would send a group text and that someone would be there to cut his hair. When I showed up at my scheduled time, the door was locked. After a few minutes of knocking, someone answered the door. I showed the stylist a picture of a previous hair cut my son has had, and told her I did not want a hard part in his hair. However, not only did she put a hard part in, but she messed it up. When she tried to correct it, she made it even worse and it ended up having a sharp downward curve at the back and was about 1/4" WIDE!! Not only that, but the top of his hair was 4-5 different lengths and you could see very obvious cut marks everywhere. She also left a long patch of hair at the front by his face where his side burn area starts, rather than trimming it off. She then threw a LOT of goopy hair gel in his hair and styled it so poorly that it was matted in some areas and spiked in other areas. I tried to call the next day to speak with a manager, but was told she's only in on Fridays. So, I waited a week and called back. The owner told me that she had already been made aware of the situation (which, prior to this phone call, I had NEVER complained or said anything about this experience to them, so there would have been NO REASON for them to fill her in on ANYTHING, unless they were expecting me to call and complain about the butchered hair cut)...and that she would offer to have it fixed for free. I told her that it was SO BAD that I couldn't let him walk around looking like that, and I had it fixed somewhere else. She offered to give me a free cut the next time I came in and I informed her that I had made 3 attempts to bring them my business and I won't be coming back. I offered a few times to send her pictures of my son's hair, but she told me it wouldn't do any good because she already offered me a free hair cut. I indicated multiple times that I felt like it was a revenge cut - based on the appointment reservation that disappeared, the unreturned phone calls, the locked door and the butchered haircut - but she cut me off each time, insisting that her stylists would never do that. I suggested that, if it wasn't intentional, she might want to evaluate the skill of that particular stylist because it was THAT BAD, and asked again if she was interested in seeing the pictures to understand how bad it was. She again said no. (And, she never asked me why I thought it was done intentionally. Most people, I believe, would be curious about the reasoning behind an accusation like that if they truly didn't believe it was true, rather than immediately getting defensive.) If I offended stylist #1, she should've told me. Or they should have put a note on my account that stylist #1 doesn't want to take my appointments. Or, they could've even told me that they no longer want my business at all. But instead, I believe they chose to butcher my child's hair, who was innocent in all of this, simply to prove a point and make sure I didn't come back. Honestly I would be ashamed to work for this business in any capacity if this is truly how they deal with customers. At NO POINT was I ever rude, condescending, demanding or insulting. I simply stated that I was not impressed with stylist #1's hair cut and asked not to be scheduled with her. This was a petty, immature and grossly unprofessional way to conduct business and my small child was an innocent target.

This was a bit of an odd expereince. There is no receptionist, no collective calendar, or even…read morestandard hours. My haircut was nice, not excitingly awesome, but a solid job. My cut was $25, and Liz only takes cash and checks. I saw a credit card machine, so at least some of the stylists take credit cards. Here is how it all went down: I called and first got the answering machine which lists all 10-15 stylists separtely with their own voice mail. I left a generic message and waited to be called back. I beleive I was called back by just the first stylist to check the messages. When I got the call back I asked if they had any appointments available for Saturday morning. I was asked which stylist and time I was interested in. I had never been there before, so I said "anyone, and what are your hours?" I was told that depended on who was working (said like I was an idiot for asking!). I almost said, "screw it, I don't want an appointment where I'm going to be treated like an idiot for asking a reasonable question! But, I went ahead and scheduled a time with her for Saturday late morning. Saturday late morning I get a phone call and it is another stylist (Liz) from the salon cancelling and rescheduling appointments for the first girl who called in sick. So I ended up going in early morning to get my haircut from Liz, who had much better phone manners. Liz did a good job with my hair. I'm growing it out and she gave it a pretty good shape. She styled it with an incredible quantity of product, and if I go back I'll have to ask that she just not style it, just blow it dry. (All the product gave my husband a headache on the drive to the store afterwards because of all the fumes.) I brought in samples of my 'style' and I can't say that the way she styled it had much in common with my pictures. All the product and styling also made it really hard to tell how good the cut was until after I went home and washed it all out. Despite the weirdness of scheduling, and the big hair styling, the cut was solid. I would go back to Liz in a pinch. I'll keep looking for a stylist with my same sense of style, but cuts as well as Liz.

This is a mainly negative review with one small positive (of sorts) compliment to the stylist. It looks like this experience was set up for negatives from the first phone call and not much else was going to change that, so this is not a really unbiased review--she went in already annoyed and upset and looking for the worst. People also have to keep in mind that these ladies set their own hours. They are independent agents which means they work out a deal with the owner, and pretty much set their own hours and method of payment. That is really not unusual in the beauty salon industry these days. As for my own personal experience, I have always been able to get into my stylist. When she was on pregnancy leave, I had no problems booking with one of the other stylists and am very comfortable and pleased with the services I've received from any of them.
