I would steer clear of this dental office unless you only need to get a cleaning once or twice a year. I had several horrible experiences with their office. I feel they took advantage of me and did not give me proper dental care because I was on Medicare and using the Delta Care plan. The cleanings lasted about 10 minutes and they never checked for pockets or did any deep cleaning and never recommended any real dental care. They were all about the procedures that cost mega bucks such as implants and crowns. My last experience with them was horrible and the customer service didn't even exist! After spending about $17,000 with them would have expected a better experience. I do not recommend the Torgersens at all or their periodontist referral Morrissette. read more

I've had a fear of dentists my whole life, and always had bad teeth. Dr. T and Dr. G have always taken care of me and made sure I feel comfortable and understand the work that is going to be done. I've been going here for about 10 years and in the past two years, the office staff is amazing!!! They are all caring, intelligent and patient knowledgeable. They even call me by my first name when I walk in the door. As I mentioned before, I have horrible teeth...I've been to a lot of dentists in Camarillo and this is the only place that has felt like home for me. As the previous low star reviews have mentioned, they do talk about things other than dentistry....dog food, trips to london, vacations, staff life.....but this has only been a positive for me. I feel like they treat this place like a family and not just a dentist office, (check in, get work done, see you next time) you get to learn and understand their personal life, and be apart of it. The dentist Gina is super unprofessional and rough. She gossips to her staff while she works on you and complained about my having a smoke smell ( I don't even smoke, my roommate does) and she was loud about it and embarrassed me in front of staff and other patients. She was super rough and I spit out blood after having a permanent crown put on! I hate this dentist and I'm never going back! I'm so happy to have found Dr. Gina Torgersen. I was one of those who did not visit a dentist in years . I had painful memories of my wisdom teeth being pulled out while I was In the Marine Corp aboard a Aircraft carrier in 1990 on the way to Persian Gulf and didn't see a dentist for 20 plus years after the Military. I had a root canal situation that Gina and her staff were excellent in treating. Dr. Gina handled that very nicely and professionally. I'm so tired of dentists bEing used car sales people.. this offi telling me my gums are bleeding and I have deep pockets and 4mm and 5mm readings A bunch of crap! I floss every day and never bleed The reason I bled?.... well Jab a sharp needle between teeth and gumS and you will draw blood. The exam hurt so much because this office wants you to needd more expensive work. Got second opiinion and verdict was how beautiful my teeth were and definitely don't need deep cleaning . Dentist was very sweet but that was only to lead to shocking "diagnosis". If you don't floss and brush regularly you would need this treatment but my teeth and gUms are very healthy Stay away from here And don't use HMO dental because all HMO dental providers have to make money being unethical Bottom line is if you take care of your teeth the dentist can make money off exams and cleanings I have a close family relative out of state in the dental profession and she revieWs my X-rays now. I wish I'd read these reviews before making an appointment with this dentist who is on my new Delta Dental plan. What a nightmare! I've NEVER been treated so unprofessionally and impersonally by any dentist, EVER! When I called to make the appointment, I was told to come early because the dentist would talk with me, do a consultation and get to know me - that was important to her. I thought that was great being new in town. Made her sound very personal and caring, that I was looking forward to the appointment. I called my former dentist and requested they mail my x-rays that I had just taken 2 months ago.... that dentist called a few days later to let me know she's mailed them. HOWEVER when I arrived at 2 for a 2:30 appt. I was told to sit and wait until "the dentist got back from lunch".. around 2:35, I was told that they never received the x-rays from my former dentist, but they would just go ahead and do them again because "the insurance would pay for it" I thought that was a strange thing to say, as a new patient I didn't really need to know that information... then it became very clear, the ONLY reason she wanted to re-do the x-ray was that she needed to be PAID by the Ins! The dental tech took the x-rays, then I guess it was the dentist who came in, because she NEVER introduced herself, or even ask me my name - or even looked at my teeth - just the x-rays! Then, she started arguing with me when I told her I'd just had a cap put on about 2 months ago, and went on to inform me that my cracked tooth would have to be extracted. Period. No alternative treatment, nothing that was listed on their misleading website. I grabbed my purse and RAN out of that place as fast as I could! This is the worst dentist I have ever seen. She was rude to me and her staff. She was not careful when taking the compound from my teeth, she made me bleed a lot and it hurt like hell. She also told me that my insurance Blue Anthem was the worst and that they may not pay and I may owe her money after the treatment. The crown she put was placed in a hurry because she had another poor schmuck waiting. I did not have sensitivity before on that tooth, now it hurts a lot with cold and hot food/liquids. I have a new dentist who took his time and helped with the sensitivity on the tooth that this woman who calls herself a doctor ruined. I went for a dental cleaning and filling repair, found the dentist was very rushed and talking her husband and staff about her dog food pick up, renovations, etc. while she had sharp tools in my mouth, she seemed distracted and didn't care about filling or cleaning my teeth When doing the bite down thing to see if the filling was right she basically ignored me when I told her something didn't feel right, she had to be 1 more test and brushed me off when I said something doesn't feel right with the repair Other staff seemed nice read more

Every person I encountered when visiting this dental office was abrasive. The receptionist has never once been friendly to me. I switched dental plans bc I switched employers, and had apparently made an appointment 6 months earlier (before job switch). I called to cancel the appointment, and the woman who answered the phone (name unknown, as it was not shared) proceeded to become argumentative. Asked if I would like to reschedule, I said no. Asked if I would be returning, I said no the nicest way possible. She asked why, and I said I switched dental plans. Asked what plan, and I didn't want to explain. My work has free dental, so why would I pay and why do I need to explain? Just take my no as no. She got upset and hung up. Having been a receptionist, I expected better customer service. Dr. Torgersen diagnosis her patients with fake issues! I came to her for the first time a couple of months ago. Sat for over 30 minutes just to get in her chair. I am a new patient and they only did bite wing x-rays should of done entire mouth . She came in without even looking at my teeth and diagnosed a cavity and gingervitis. I was in shock! I have never had a cavity in my life! I have always had perfect teeth medically and aesthetically! She never even looked in my mouth! Then she said get scheduled for these issues and see you next time! I never made the appointment! Called my insurance they suggested I get another opinion and I'm glad I did !! My current dentist told me what every dentist had told me " you have perfect teeth" . No cavities no gum issues!!! She did a complete exam, full set of x-rays and a cleaning!! I went to Gina Torgersen last week for the first time. I had my checkup and X-rays - she said my teeth looked really good and I was doing a great job taking care of them. I schedule an appointment to have my teeth cleaned the next week. I arrived for my cleaning and they took me right in and told me that Dr. Gina would be in to clean my teeth. She started cleaning my teeth and was very aggressive and it was really painful so I told her that she was hurting me and she said "well that's what happens when you don't go to the dentist for 2 years. She raised her voice at me and said "WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO"? You want me to numb you for this cleaning or can you handle it? I told her to finish cleaning my teeth and I didn't need to be numb. She left the room while I rinsed my mouth out because there was so much bleeding. When she returned she asked why I hadn't been to the dentist in 2 years and I told her because I didn't have insurance and couldn't afford it. She told me that I should have went anyways and payed out of my own pocket. I thought that was rude and she had no right to tell me that. When I was done with my cleaning I went to check out and they told me I had to pay 65 dollars for the cleaning and I told them there is no charge because I have insurance and they told me that that's what I owed. I paid the bill and went straight to my car and called my insurance co. and they said that she shouldn't have charged me for a teeth cleaning. I called the office to let them know and they said the charge was for scaling my teeth and gum irrigation. So I was charged for a teeth cleaning which wasn't even a good cleaning and they said it was for the extra work of scaling my teeth and the irrigation. (There was no extra work or time involved) I didn't authorize any of this and thought it was a regular teeth cleaning. It was my first time at this office and I thought this was the regular procedure. My insurance is working with me and said that I was treated unfairly and they filed a claim against her and is working on refunding me the money for (extra) worked that wasn't done. I've been in tears and so distraught over the treatment of Dr. Gina. I can't believe how incredibly rude and unprofessional she was and I will never go back again and I hope nobody else has to go through what I went through. read more

To be fair I was never seen by this dentist. I called to make an appointment and was told they would only do xrays and exam on first visit and a cleaning on a second visit. I've always had xrays, exam and cleaning on first visit with other dentists. It's more convenient and I feel like she does it on 2 visits to get more $ from the insurance company. Since they have to pay more when seen more than once. They also told me that I may need a deep cleaning and that is done on several appointments. They haven't even seen me yet they're already preparing me for some costly bogus cleaning that I don't need. Have never needed one in the past and yet I'm hearing more and more about these practices by shady dentists. So hard to find an honest good dentist these days!!! read more

Let me start by saying that I had gone to Dr. Torgersen for several years before leaving my job about 3 years ago and switching dental plans. At the time I had always had a pleasant experience with Dr. Torgersen, the staff, and best of all no wait. After switching jobs again I decided to go back to her but I didn't get past the front desk. I arrived at 9:02 for my 9:00 appt. I signed in but no one greeted me or checked in with me. The receptionist was on the phone confirming other appts. About 15 mins later a second patient arrived, no more than two mins later she was taken back. I checked in to confirm that I had signed in correctly and finally I was given the new patient form. I completed it, turned it in, and sat back down. In comes the next patient and again 2 mins later he was taken back. I was just ignored for 30+ mins with front office staff doing absolutely nothing to check me in or get the process started. I politely said I was leaving and walked out. I understand having to wait at a doctors office but it is ridiculous to ignore your patients and provide horrible costumer service. I am the biggest baby seriously when it comes to going to the dentist. Took me years before I went back. My husband had been going to Dr Gina Torgersen for many years. Well, the day came when I had an issue with my tooth and had no choice but to go. ABSOLUTELY the best dentist I have ever known. Been here a few times. Each time is worse than the other. Facility overall is dirty. Staff is rude and clearly burned out. Dentist is very rushed, doesn't take time to explain anything and have never seen her wash her hands. The staff never changes gloves or uses the sink. Gina Torgersen is a butcher, not a dentist. I went to her one time, years ago, and one time only. I had an 8:30 AM appointment. I showed up a little earlier, filled out my paperwork and waited. 8:30 rolled around and I still waited. 8:45 came and went and I still waited. Closer to 9 AM, Dr. Torgersen strolled in with her Starbucks and chatted idly with the front desk person while I waited. I didn't know she was the dentist because I had never seen her before. When I was called back a few minutes later and saw that she was the dentist and that she hadn't even been here for my appointment. I was pretty mad. She never even apologized for her tardiness. Then, she brutalized my gums for an hour with what she called a "cleaning." My gums were so swollen and actively bleeding when she was done that I had to call in sick to work that day. DO NOT USE GINA TORGERSEN AS YOUR DENTIST Update: A fellow Yelper messaged me and accused me of being an unhappy person who wrote this review out of spitefulness and was just talking sh1t for sh1t's sake. This is definitely a delayed review but one that I think needs to be done. Both myself and my husband went to see Gina Torgerson about 4 or 5 years ago. We had both not been to the dentist in years and were pretty much expecting a lot of information to be given to us because we were so long overdue. But we were VERY wrong and basically had an extremely uninformative, very quick and lazy cleaning, x-rays and briefing (like very brief.) First my appointment. There was fairly no wait being a new patient and i was almost immediately put into a chair. on my way to it Dr Gina was behind that glass wall thing texting on her phone and digging through her purse. The Dental Assistant was very nice and did the X-rays and cleaning and of course i got the floss talk. Then she went ahead and looked over my x-rays and discussed them with the Dr and Dr Gina very quickly looked over my teeth. There really wasn't any interaction with the Dr and when she asked me if I had questions/concerns. I let her know I would like to her check on my wisdom teeth because I was highly recommended, as a kid, to have them all removed because they would begin impacting my teeth and causing them to shift and I was never able to get it done. From there she did not mention anything about them. As a professional I would have liked an answer, "yes i see that they should be removed" or "no everything looks fine, no need." But all I got was something along the lines of we'll be sure to get you set up for that, nothing else was said and she just left. The DA finished up with whatever else was left for the cleaning. I was then left to finish taking care of payment and got my toothbrush as an obvious, ok good to go. All this time Dr. Gina was again behind the glass wall just texting and fidgeting with her purse. I asked the receptionist about info regarding my wisdom teeth and she didn't know anything about it. So i had to directly ask Dr. Gina about it and she seemed frustrated that I was interrupting her precious and apparently extremely important text conversation. The only thing she did was tell the receptionist to give me some information for an oral surgeon. To which I had to contact and schedule and find out if my wisdom teeth even needed to be removed, because she obviously couldn't waste her time with her patients x-rays instead of her texts. Next turn is my husbands at a different time. He was told that he has no cavities and the discoloration on his teeth is just staining from food. Later after refusing to let him go back to Dr. Gina, we find out he has had several cavities and the discoloration is not staining, it is corrosion caused by acid build up from sleep apnea. He had to go to a completely different person to actually get the proper information that should have been looked into and not just disregarded as nothing. She apparently does no work and doesn't care to give her patients the time of day to deal with their oral needs. She is unprofessional, unfriendly, and uninformative. TL;DR Bad dentist, didn't look into anything and had to go to other professionals that actually took the time to do their job instead of texting for results. read more

I had an emergency and she didn't hesitate to get me in right away and accommodate me especially with 3 little children. Her staff there make you feel comfortable, happy and stress free. I am always treated with respect and kindness during each visit. I have been very happy with the quality of care Dr Gina and her staff have given me, which includes regular teeth cleanings and tooth exams, plus the installing of four crowns over the past 20-plus years. My daughter chipped her teeth. Dr Torgersen's staff kindly accommodate her the same day. Dr. Torgersen has my 14 in the chair . She explained to me that there was no nerve damage Dr Torgersen said, " she would take an X ray to be sure. She then told me insurance doesn't cover since it is cosmetics. It would be 260.00. My DDS is literally across from her Dr. Sehati. Being that I would be a cash patient. I wanted to see how much he charged. I walked out to ask. My 17 year old walked out said Dr. Torgersen was very upset. She said I've never had anyone negotiate with me. She sent my 14 to the lobby. She said she had no time for this. She is way to busy. My daughter has been a good standing patient. We've going faithfully every 6 months for years. I feel it was very unprofessional. She could have addressed the issue to me the adult. It was a blessing in disguise. Dr Sehati took her as a walk in new patient. It was a 140.00 savings. Which is huge for a single mother house house hold. I was never going to negotiate. I was going to go with whoever was more reasonable. Dr Sehati took x rays that day. He even work though his lunch the next day. After reviewing the x ray. My daughter had 4 cavity. One of the best Dentists I've been to. Always pinpoints my issue and corrects the problem the first time.

I have been a patient of the Torgersen's dental practice for many years. Aside from the usual check-ups and cavity fillings or crowns, I also received a couple of teeth whitening procedures. I did both the bleaching trays and the laser treatment with minimal success. Unfortunately, my teeth don't respond well to standard whitening treatments because they are discolored due to a heavy round of antibiotics I received in the 1st grade. As I matured, my teeth continued to discolor and get some cracks, which aged me beyond my years. During one of my cleaning visits with Dr. Gina, she mentioned a new cosmetic crown that was available - the Zirconia Crown. They are not opaque and have a slightly translucent quality which makes them look natural. I took the plunge and had 16 of my teeth crowned with the Zirconias. I couldn't be happier with the result. I finally have nice, white teeth and I'm not ashamed to share my smile. They are beautiful, and not too white as to appear fake. I'm considering going back to get my remaining 8 teeth crowned with the Zirconias. I highly recommend the Torgersen dental office. I would highly recommend that you look for a more professional dentist elsewhere as I had a similarly negative experience as all of the other one stars out there. I was switched to this dentist by my insurance after my previous dentist of 7 years stopped accepting my insurance. I initially tried contacting them through the website as well as leaving them a message by phone with no response after a month. I was finally able to call during business hours to set up cleanings for myself and my three daughters. I was asked when our last xrays were and gathered the dates from my previous dentist for the receptionist. Per office policy, I was not able to schedule all of our appointments on the same day (which I am very thankful for now, though I had always been able to get all 4 of us in at my previous dentist with no issue). I arrived to the appointment and began to fill out paperwork when another new patient arrived and began asking questions that led me to ask similar questions because I was not made aware that I would not be getting a cleaning. Apparently, first visits here are ONLY for X-rays and exams. You have to make a follow up appointment for a cleaning and pay a second co-pay. That was not made clear to me at the time I made the appointment. However, Dr. Gina was okay to clean my 15yo daughter's teeth. I was seen to a chair and all of the staff was very friendly and helpful. The hygienist (at least I think she was) asked about concerns and took my xrays, then left me to wait for the Dr. When she came in, she commented on how nice my teeth were but immediately began to identify issues that would require additional attention at my next appointment. She spoke in a very audible voice that could be heard throughout the office and exclaimed that I had gingivitis that required irrigation in addition to the cleaning at my next appointment. I've never had gingivitis in my life so it was a surprise to me. She began to raise my chair and walked out of the room as I attempted to ask her a question which she dismissed completely and walked away. I proceeded to the reception desk where I was shown my file and the recommendations that were made for my next appointment which would include a $55 fee for the irrigation which is not covered by my insurance. I refused to agree to the irrigation and asked what recommendations she had to care for my teeth in the meantime. None were provided and I was encouraged to do what the dr recommended. However, the next available appointment that I could make was more than a month out. I told the receptionist I would not be having the irrigation done and I just wanted the cleaning at my next appointment. In the meantime, the dr was with my daughter in another room that had a door and she had practically closed the door, I'm not sure why. Regardless, I could hear her describing all of these issues my daughter had with her teeth as well which made me even more uneasy. We both have very healthy teeth, neither of us have cavities, and my previous dentist went so far as to only order xrays for me every two years because I didn't need them. The dr's comments were making me more and more angry by the minute and I stood up from the waiting room (where I could hear EVERYTHING she was saying to my daughter) and asked them to release her from the room. The receptionist attempted to convince me to allow her to polish my daughter's teeth because she was almost done and I said no. I wanted them to let her go immediately. I was furious with how extremely unethical and unprofessional the dr was. She treated my daughter with such disrespect that I did not want her in there a second longer. When my daughter came out of the room, I asked her if she was okay and she said the dr was really rough and was scraping her gums so hard she made her bleed. My daughter has never complained about going to the dentist before and she is very tolerant of rude people and will be polite despite being treated unfairly. It broke my heart to see her treated that way and I got her out of that office as fast as I could. Before leaving I explained to the receptionist how inappropriate the dr's behavior was and that individual patient's dental concerns should not be shared with the entire office. Each patient has a right to privacy, regardless of whether or not the dentist is accurately describing the patient's needs. After leaving the office, I called to cancel the appointments I had scheduled for my other two daughters and let them know we would not be returning. The only thing I am thankful for after all of this is that the receptionist emailed me our xrays without issue when I asked how I could get them to our new dentist. read more

Dr G took great care of me when I called her practice as an unknown patient in a tremendous amount of pain. Her staff got me in immediately, observed how anxious I was to be there and treated me with kindness and compassion. There was no "dental shaming" which would have been well deserved due to my lack of attention to my dental needs. Dr G provided me with a diagnosis quickly and an appointment the following day. Dr. Gina has been my dentist for 25 years. My wife and I drive from Long Beach to her office (60 miles) 2 times a year for check ups. She's perfect, great cleaning, crowns, never goes for extra work. She takes great care of our teeth and we never have problems. She's very cool and her staff is nice too! read more

Good experience when I went, Gina and her husband did a lot of work, I trusted them so I had the work done. Fast forward 5 years I started having problems my crowns started coming out so I went to a trusted dentist. They did ExRays and were horrified by what they saw I had 6 root canals done and all were incomplete, that means they did not get all the roots and is infected so I went to a specialist and paid $6,000 and a lot of pain to get them all redone. My current dentist believes a lot of the work I had done was unnecessary. This is a very respected dentist. To be fair the Torgersons only did 2 or 3 of those root canals at the discounted rate of around $300 because I had insurance. Just be carefull with this dentist, about unnecessary work, Gina is Indian and maybe it's a culture thing but it always seemed like she was in a hurry. read more

I went to Dr. Gina based on recommendations by two friends who are her patients. My first visit was fine. Her office got me in and out very quickly. They did x-rays and exam -- and then Dr. Gina came in to talk to me. She told me I needed deep cleaning and needed work on two of my teeth (one on each side). Then, she told me she could get everything done in two visits. I though, wow, that's really great. But, here's were everything goes bad. She did the work: my deep teeth cleaning on one side. Then did my tooth procedure on the other side. Second visit: Dr. Gina did second half of cleaning and then finished off tooth procedure from last visit and took care of other tooth procedure on other side of mouth. Great. All done with dentist visit. But, I didn't feel really good. My teeth didn't really clean. Then, a couple of months later, my primary care doctor recommends a mouthpiece for sleep apnea. I go to the referred dentist. His office does a whole mouth x-ray on my teeth. What he tells me isn't good. He asks when was my last cleaning because I have tartar build-up and gum issues. He also points out two teeth that need serious work done because one tooth was developing an abscess, the other had a root canal failure. He's shocked to learn I just was at Dr. Gina's office for deep cleaning less than 3 month ago. He's also surprised the two problems weren't detected. He also points out that the work I had done probably should be redone to prevent problem. Bottom line: More work. Stay away from Dr. Gina. I just got my teeth deep cleaned at another dental practice. Love these folks! Everyone has a superb demeanor...friendly and professional. I had to change from a long standing dentist I loved because of insurance and ended up somewhere that was a bad fit. More than that, really...had an awful experience that actually made me fearful of future dental work to the point that I put off following up to get a couple things done. Dr. G and her team made it all better, though. From the friendly receptionist and speedy appt to the kind and quick (but gentle!) treatment from Dr. G and her assistant...I just cannot say enough good things about these folks. My 10 and 8 year old always demand to come here to get their teeth checked and cavities filled even though Dr Torgersen is outside of my current network. This is where they feel most comfortable. They have refused to go anywhere else. That should tell you something. In my opinion, Dr Torgersen is straight forward and honest and I appreciate that. It amazes me how this industry can rob people blind. I had several 2nd opinions with my son and the out of network charges were ridiculous. Dr Torgersen rates in my opinion were extremely fair. We have been coming to her now for a couple of years and will continue to do so. Thanks for seeing my kids and being patient with them when others either refused to treat them and or charged outrageous fees to cause me to leave. read more

Dr. "T" and her staff provide excellent dental care, with a warmth and caring that allowed even someone like me, with horrible dental experiences, to relax, and be a patient for 12 years. I can not recommend this outstanding dentist and her staff highly enough - they really do deserve a '6 Star Rating'. I will miss the family atmosphere of going into her office for an exam and treatment. Only a move from the area would have caused me to find another dentist. read more

Dr. Gina and staff are so nice. I have been going for several years and recommend her to my peeps! Dr. Gina is professional. I have been to another dentist that wanted to redo each filling just for the money as well as put braces on me. I ask Dr. Gina when I have a problem or question she addresses it, not for the money but for the safety of my teeth. I trust her judgement. Dr Torgersen is the best dentist I have ever had. Even my wife like seeing her and she has had a mortal fear of dentists since childhood. My son goes to her, and I highly recommend her. I never wait long to be seen and her staff are always friendly, happy people. I know you can't please everyone, but anyone who is not satisfied with her has greater issues. I have been going to her for at least six years. She has never recommended unnecessary work, even reexamining teeth I told her two other dentist want me to have filled. Her diagnosis was that fillings were not needed and I have had not trouble with those teeth. read more
