If I could give dr Gimlen a zero I would - she set me up Invisalign and gave me substandard service - she wasted 3 years of my life with Invisalign that never accomplished what she promised. 2 rounds of Invisalign each at 1.5 years and my smile was barely better than when I started. (my teeth were not that bad to begin with, I had braces as a teenager, and being in my 50's they moved slightly, but not much). At the end of the 1st round of invisalign she told me I was done/ with 1 recessed tooth and a space between teeth that caused food to constantly get trapped. I returned after a month when she agreed to rescan and redo the Invisalign. I asked her what All needed redone and she refused to look in my mouth but instead told me "I had to tell her what to fix". She is the professional- I do not know what constitutes a good bite, nor do I know the 'best' smile she can give me given the limitations of my jaw. She refused to identify which tooth was the problem or what else could be made better. I went to my dentist and asked her for help. My dentist became my advocate and talked personally to Dr. Gimlen on 2 occasions on my behalf. My dentist took pictures and made a laundry list of items that still needed fixed. My 2nd round of invisalign was for 18 mos. At the end of which I still had a square arch on my lower teeth (my list and videos clearly asked to fix this) and I still had the same tooth recessed on top with extra space where food still was getting trapped. She said to fix these I would need to "rescan and repeat invisalign a third time". Needless to say I did not trust her with more time in my life. I ended up going to a new orthodontist and opted for traditional braces- after 3 mos everything left undone by Dr. Gimlen has been fixed and I am much happier. I realize invisalign is not as effective as braces, however, Dr. Gimlen's care and attention throughout the 3 years I was a patient was substandard and the results reflect that. She did not care to give me the 'best bite and smile possible" but instead just wanted me done. On a few occasions I had to point out the 'odd tracking' and extra gaps between my teeth and the tray, where that was her job to monitor. At the beginning of treatment she showed me videos of how my teeth would move, and the end result, only to tell me at the end of treatment that "those videos are only estimates, they never turn out to look like that"!!!! She contradicted herself on numerous other occasions. When confronted at the end with the poor unsatisfactory results she became extremely unprofessional and flustered.
I am thankful for my Dentist who helped to make sure I received the best possible orthodontist care and results possible. She is an example of a true professional who goes above and beyond to deliver the best care possible, even when it is not her responsibility. I would have expected this care from Dr. Gimlen as this was what she was paid to do. read more
