I visited The Mount tearoom last weekend for my dads birthday. First impressions were great, I…read moreloved it! They have plenty of parking on site and you can see a large tent on the property which I believe they hire out for private events. The first thing I spotted outside, which I was really excited about was a Little Free Library book shed, which I know from when I lived in America. It is a book exchange; take a book, leave a book, book swap! I was very impressed to find one there! We had booked a table in advance, which I would probably recommend to avoid disappointment as there aren't many tables, but you can also eat outside. The decor is really nice and very fitting for a tea room. We were shown to our table straight away and the staff were really nice. We decided to order sandwiches and some cake, but they do afternoon tea and ice cream as well. Between us we ordered a bottle of prosecco and I shared a sandwich with a fellow diner, and was glad I did as otherwise I wouldn't have been able to fit in my cake! I went for the Wensleydale cheese and caramelised onion sandwich. Which was really nice! It might have been a bit cheesy had I had both parts of the sandwich. It also came with a nice side salad. For dessert there was lots of choice, including Victoria sandwich, coffee and walnut and lemon cake. I went for the New York cheesecake with strawberry. The cheesecake was delicious! Next time I would like to try the ice cream from Sargent's to see if it is as good as what I remember from when I was young! I can't wait to go back to the tearoom and try something different and next time I will take a book for the library! I would definitely recommend it to friends and family.

The theme is inspired by Alice in Wonderland. Not surprising really, considering the owner/proprietor also has a gift shop called Mad As A Hatter directly opposite! The tearoom, aptly named The Tea Party! (what else!?) is very child friendly, with high and low chairs, with pushchair & wheelchair access, two toilets (one of which is also the nappy changing room) a selection of reproduction, upcycled, ornate seats and chairs to choose from, it provided a cornucopia of dizzying delights to bombard the eye with an original look to an otherwise oft neglected part of Bearwood. As a stand out, it really provides a change from the generic high street cafes and as an independent cafe/tearoom. It's going to offer a "library" where patrons can simply read or work on their tablets/laptops or other electronic devices, a "gallery" for local artists and photographers to display and sell their work, craft workshops and rooms to hire to either demonstrate/teach "crafty" things or simply have a small party! The whole concept or venue really offers good value for money and can easily become the creative community hub of Bearwood. Watch this space! It's open 9.30am until 5pm.

As it is, in Bearwood, would you believe, it is a fine place to while away an hour with a friend over a pot of tea or coffee. A lot of imagination has gone into making this a fun and relaxing place to be - from the pretty tea pots leading to the entrance, to the delightfully mismatched furniture, hand painted cups and cuckoo clocks! When I was there, the coffee was really kinda lovely and Santa was in there too, taking a tea break!

This place, for my family, all started when a local pub stocked it for their puds, we already knew…read moreit was good when we discovered it was literally just down the road from one of my highschool friends. We'd ride our bikes here, using the ice creams as treats and calorie deficits, or come here to see the alpacas and come for lunch. The place is a little farm, caravan park, campsite, with rabbits, cattle, poultry, alpacas, goats you can feed, sheep, allsorts, and a little chalet where you can have your lunch, or buy farm shop type goodies. Lunch is pretty basic, a few choices of soups, sandwiches, salads, and the beauties that are Staffordshire oatcakes. But hell, I know that's not what you're after. You guys want the icecream don't you? Well, it's awesome, get yourself a big fat banana split, a sundae, cones, tube, to eat in, or you can purchase little cinema style single serving tubs, or treat yourself to varying litres, yes, litres. I'm personally always a fan of a banana split, as I can pretend I'm not being completely awful to my waistline, and you get to pick three flavours. My current absolute favourite is the Jaffa cake icecream, I described it to my other half, and he said its description was more unnecessarily arousing than the old marks and Spencer's ads. This isn't just any icecream, this is: tiramisu, Turkish delight, vanilla, blackcurrant, tutti fruity, bubblegum, chocolate, blackcurrant and licorice, ginger and lime, cappuccino, strawberry, dulce de leche, banana, banoffee, mint n choc, cherry, honeycomb, and so so much more thick, creamy, jersey cow deliciousness. Ps; there's also an owl sanctuary...

There are loads of flavors, my favourites so far are raspberry swirl, humbug and honeycomb - yum yum yum! It's really cheap considering it is home made ice cream. You can buy it by the cone or in various sized tubs. Obviously the bigger tub you buy, the cheaper it works out per litre ( by the biggest!! He he ). There is a lovely field outside with picnic benches, perfect to drive, cycle or walk to. If coming from Stafford it is possible to get there on a cycle path, google it.
