I have Delta Dental insurance and have used it with other dental practices with no problems so I was not scrutinizing my bills when I paid them until I had some major work done and was told I had no insurance. I had been paying for services that my insurance covered. I asked them to check as we were insured and the receptionist claimed that I was not insured. After a series of emails with the insurance company and the Apex Dentistry office, the receptionist finally sent a list of the work done to Delta Dental Insurance. After not hearing from anyone for three weeks, I contacted Delta Dental and was told they had paid the provider some weeks ago. I then contacted the office at Apex General Dentistry and was told they were still waiting for payment via an anonymous email. No signatures or names on any of their emails. So, I contacted Delta Dental again and asked for the payment date and was told they has mailed the payment as part of a group payment and Apex had not deposited the check yet. This is money I had to pay to Apex because they did not honor my insurance. When Apex finally discovers the insurance check, I expect them to send me the amount covered by my insurance. Their dental work is adequate, but getting my bill straightened out is like pulling teeth! Your mileage may vary.

My mom had a horrible experience with her regular dentist so she went to see Dr. Benson for a complicated removal and said it was the easiest thing she had ever done. Hearing my moms experience, I decided to book a consultation to get my wisdom teeth out because I knew it was time as I almost had to go to the emergency room months before due to the pain they were causing me. I kept having flare ups every few months. Dr.Benson made me feel at ease and the actual removal was so smooth. Yes, there was pain- after all, this is a surgery and in my case he had to actually cut the teeth as they had developed hooks, however the pain was nothing I couldn't tolerate. I didn't even have to use the prescription meds, only ibuprofen for several days. The bleeding was very minimal. Dr.Benson personally called to check up on me during healing process. Here I am, 2 months after the procedure (that I so feared and dreaded) and I forget I even had them out- I've completely healed, no problems. I would recommend him in a heartbeat.

I asked about a night guard for TMJ and they told me they could make it - a gal questioned the wires in the guard and the gal with her said the lab would figure it out. The guard came back with no wires and they didn't return the old guard. My insurance would only pay for 1 guard in a 12 month period. So it cost $4000 to get the correct guard made as the TMJ issues were returning and I had severe pain in my jaw. In December I had an exam and was told I needed 2 crowns. I told them I wanted to wait until January because I was changing insurance. THE DENTIST AND THE HYGENIST TOLD ME I SHOULD DO IT NOW - IN DECEMBER- BECAUSE THERE MIGHT BE A WAITING PERIOD WITH THE NEW INSURANCE. I went back December 30th and paid the balance in full. I went back for the final crowns in January. They billed my "old insurance" in January and the claim was denied. Now I am being billed over $1600. Angela, the office manager, told me that there are notes in the file that said to keep the "old insurance" until the crowns were delivered. THAT IS FALSE!!!! I was told to get everything done on the old insurance. But now it is my fault because I should have known that they would have to bill my insurance for the permanent crowns. But isn't it nice that they will settle with me if I pay $1000 instead of the $1600 that was not paid by insurance. THEY ARE DOING ME A BIG FAVOR BY TRYING TO REDUCE THE BILL. Interesting - if your office is not in error due to the false note in my file - why are you offering me a "DEAL". BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE This office does everything to get MONEY !!!!! Frustrated, I called the 1-877 number on the Lane & Associate truck parked out front. I left a message as well. I walked around the building, found a door open, and went in. I went to the dental office to find the door locked. When I got home, I called the 1-877 number again, and when I was on the phone with the associate, the local office called me. I found out that they don't see patients on WEDNESDAYS! How the appointment was made was a mystery. How I received the texts was a mystery and should have been caught.
