This has become my new favorite coffee shop in the area. It's great for slow mornings taking the kids to walk around the marina and look at the boats while enjoying a yummy breakfast. This place is my go-to stop for a matcha, smoothie, and/or snack (AKA avocado toast). I live about 30 minutes away and never regret the drive for the quality of food, friendly staff, and beautiful scenery. It's tough to be an iced matcha latte while overlooking the water. Visited this riverside cafe last week. The food was fair, tea latte great, riverside view nice but, something was missing that I can't put my finger on. The place was crowded and noisy, kind of like a busy train terminal (you'll never find a table if you're alone ordering your food at the counter). The food offerings were limited with several pastries and a couple of breakfast dishes. The first two dishes I ordered were sold out so, I settled on their frittata which came in a lump like it was purchased in a bulk container from a wholesaler. The frittata tasted ok but the presentation was about as poor as you could get. As I mentioned previously, my tea Latte was made perfectly (so few places do this so kudos to Gilbert's on this point). Gilbert's is technically on the St Lucia River but it's actually by the docks. Not a bad view but definitely not a river view. Service was perfunctory at best and the chairs which are tilted way back, are made for lounging, not eating. If you're interested in a good cup of coffee or tea and your meeting friends, Gilbert's is an ok spot to join up. However, if you're looking for a great breakfast with a great riverfront feel, you may want to continue looking elsewhere. Some places have a feel that's just right, Gilbert's, at least for me, is not one of those places. read more

Great atmosphere down by the water and the yachts. Friday and Saturday night they stay open late with a fire pit and the live music. I got a cappuccino, which was excellent, and got some Saturday evening work done while listening to great acoustic music in the background. Although I worked, this would also be a great date night finisher with the wife! The staff was great too. read more

Such a lovely spot for a coffee and pastry. We got cappuccinos and two pastries. My almond croissant was delicious, my husband said his sweet bread was just ok. This is a great little cafe by the marina in Stuart. It has a beautiful view of the St Lucie River. We sat outside with a beautiful view of the boats! I love the decor of the inside - very nautical and very comfortable. There are a bunch of table insides and outside. They have a wide variety of coffees and teas. They also have a variety of food. Very friendly employees as well. We ordered 3 coffees and enjoyed them in the brisk air. There also was a nice fire pit near of us which kept us warm! read more

Visited Gilbert's this morning for a mocha which is the only coffee I always get from anywhere I go. Normally I go to Blue Door but they didn't open for another 30 mins. So I decided to go to Gilbert's against my intuition. Their coffee is too expensive for what it is. So I proceed to purchase a 12oz mocha and the total $6.15. The girl with glasses and hair pulled back that's been there other times I've gone and normally she has an attitude every time was the one at the register. I let her know that their coffee is about a dollar or so higher than everyone else with a boutique coffee shop. She stated, " I have no idea." Then I told her, no I'm telling you. Then she drops my change in my hand and doesn't say anything. First off anytime you drop money in someone's hand, that in itself is very rude! This will be the last time I come here. The coffee is priced too high and it doesn't taste any better than anywhere else! And their staff needs training. The only girl that was great was the one working the coffee machine! At least she spoke to me! I'll continue supporting Blue Door! They have no issues with their coffee, prices nor customer service! read more

I've been back quite a few times. I do love this place. Everyone is always so friendly. If you do start to come here I suggest sign up for the rewards program. They do have quite a bit of seating on the inside and there's a lot outside as well. the outside you have a view of the marina. Depending on the time of day and season it may be hard to find a parking spot here since it is at the marina and there is a restaurant right now next to the coffee shop. read more

I happened to hear about this amazing mom's support group by Whole Counseling and Wellness that was hosted here and I'm so glad I came out to check it out. Not only was the support group amazing, we were given a complementary cup of our choice of coffee. The owner suggested this delicious Sugar Free Pistachio Iced Coffee. We said we'd like to sit At inside bar.. 1 st girl rang us up - 2nd girl w all the tattoos and piercings gave us our coffee- register girl put fishdip up , both without words- then magically we were invisible - not a peep from either - we had to ask for silverware, napkins, water , which they just pointed to it on the table by front door, no follow up - how is everything, can I get you anything else, etc.... I really wanted a muffin but at this point wouldn't want to "bother" staff... Which brings me to this.... DINE IN ORDERS SHOULD BE PRESENTED WITH A CHECK UPON COMPLETION OF VISIT ,THEN WE MAY DECIDE TIP - IF DESERVING- Otherwise the way it is now is you pay and are solicited with tip at time of ordering- whether staying or to go... So there is no incentive to be attended to by staff since they already have their tip - that everyone is guilted into by "the machine" which in this case are the owners..... so guessing moving forward we WILL NOT TIP - since our experience and visit are not completed yet... My husband and I stayed on Hutchinson Island for the week and visited Gilbert's nearly every morning. We live out of state and run a coffee shop back home, so we make it a point to try local coffee shops when traveling. We have been very impressed with the quality of bean used and our favorite coffee was an iced vanilla latte with oatmilk. I always love going to different coffee shops during travel. I came here during one of my trips to Florida. I ordered a 16 ounce iced latte and was surprised that it was only $5. This has to be the coolest shop I've been to in the area. Great coffee, beer on tap, and waterfront views? Okay Stuart, I see you! Every year I come back to my hometown for the holidays. And usually when I'm here I have to catch up on work. We've been going to a shop not too far away that's always left more to be desired. In comes Gilbert's, a trendy shop with a cooler filled with Topo Chico and canned kombucha. There are a few tables inside with a cozier nook where we set up shop. Two ice coffees came in a can-style glass and a metal straw. No complaints here! I think what makes Gilbert's stand out is the riverfront property it sits on. A large covered patio area and additional tables closer to the water make for picturesque views and great people watching next to Sailor's Return.
