So I'm updating this review almost 6 years later. I decided to try them again. So after 20 years of taking my 2 Yorkies here, they want me to pay a deposit to reestablish service! It's been 5-6 years since my Chihuahua has been there. I spent loads of money and always paid my bills in full at the time of service. I have a credit rating over 800. I told the lady "no thanks, I'll go elsewhere". I understand if I am new or was a client for only a year or two before leaving, but I've established myself with them. So a 5-6 year lapse negates 20 years of being a customer? They've gotten too big for their breeches. It's sad because I really liked the doctor that took care of us. read more

Dogs dislike the vet because of the probing, poking, and all the craziness they go through in a new environment. They aren't comfortable and the vet techs here surely don't make them feel comfortable. My girlfriend and I took our 1.5 year old French Bulldog in for an anal gland expression and left this vet being told that he did well and had no issues. It seemed odd because at the time our pup was panting and seemed stressed. Fast forward maybe a month later and it was time for another anal gland expression. This time we were notified after having the procedure done that this current time and that last visit he needed to be muzzled and all hands were on deck. We were also told that he basically stress pooped all over the vet tech who did my pups anal gland expression and that they never followed through with the second anal gland expression because of the situation. As a heavily invested dog owner it would have been helpful to have information during the procedure and know that my pup wasn't doing well. My dog is trained well and obedient. I understand that anal gland expressions are a weird thing and seem uncomfortable for a dog. But it is the vet's responsibility to make a dog feel safe during any procedure and find a way to follow through. The fact that my dog went through two appointments and my girlfriend and I the owners were not notified until after everything already didn't go as planned is ridiculous. A dog owner knows their dog best and would be the best advocate for any situation. Sadly we weren't updated of the situation and our pup now gets freaked out when things are near his booty. We no longer plan to have our pup seen at this vet and hope that through this you will learn to update your patients owners. And find ways to better make a dog in your back room feel safe with whatever procedure. read more

We recently moved to Gilbert from San Diego, and found ourselves with a pup in pain, COVID-19 restrictions, and no vet :( We contacted Gilbert Vet with a "can you help us, please?" email on Saturday... got a call back that day, and they managed to squeeze us in for an exam on Monday. Our 9yr old 'puppy' Jax had a great time (he loves everyone, including the vet!) and was smiling for several hours after our visit :) The entire staff was amazing -- our tech, Alexis, and Dr Jody Balke were incredible. Kind, communicative (we had to wait in the car during Jax's exam, and they called multiple times with updates and information) and an all-around excellent experience. We moved to Gilbert in 2018. We had two dachshunds and one of them, Pete, always had stomach issues. Our prior vets could not figure out how to help him and at times even caused him more pain. When he had a bleeding episode in AZ, we took him to Dr. Scott and she diagnosed him very quickly and had him see a specialist to confirm. His prognosis was guarded and she prepared us as to what could happen since he was so sick. In short, she ended up saving his life twice. His quality of life was good all the way up to the end three years later at almost 15. Dr. Scott had always treated our pets like the family members that they are to us. She also cares for the human family members and only orders the necessary tests and medications and is conscious about the costs. We do a lot of traveling and will always make sure to be in Gilbert when it's time for our dog to have her vet appointment. The staff are all great too. There were times when I called in tears because my dog was bleeding and they were so compassionate and helpful. I can't say enough great things about Dr. Scott and staff, and thank them from the bottom of my heart for the care they gave Pete. Molly is looking forward to seeing them soon! read more

I have gone to sooo many vets over the last few years. This is by far the best one, easily. They have always done everything they could to get my guys in as soon as possible when they have a real problem. I took in my 2 puppies for shots and Dr Balke is amazing with them! When a simple puppy shot visit turned into oh, by the way he ate a sock, she went over the options with me for care and outcomes. Today I had a really great experience at Gilbert Veterinary Hospital. I have taken my little 6 week old puppy who has had constant diarrhea for 3 days to THREE different vets with no diagnosis. I felt absolutely helpless and haven't slept in 4 days because I was so worried about this pup. I could instantly tell on the phone that they cared and they were able to get me in the same day which was awesome because with one lb puppies you never know what timeline you are working with. I was convinced he had an intestinal parasite after doing days of research but none of the vets would listen or prescribe him a dewormer. Gilbert Animal Hospital looked at his stool on site (none of that 24-48 lab test crap) and definitely saw coccidia, an intestinal parasite. They did send stool to a lab for further tests but they were able to prescribe him a dewormer and we are on the road to recovery. Yay! So blessed I was lead here and would recommend them to anyone. The woman on the phone said that they hadn't even set up their August schedule yet and she had no idea who would be working or what availability they would have and that she'd have to call me back. I still haven't been called back. So you're booked up until the end of July and have nothing ready to book in August? It doesn't make sense to me. Once July fills up, then get the August schedule ready. Seems very disorganized. I guess I'll be going somewhere else since you don't need my money. My poor dog has the worst allergies. Over the course of two years I have taken her to at least 5 different vets, and a dermatologist- all of which said the same thing "she has allergies, try apoquel" We had her on this medication and nothing improved, and finally as one last effort, I brought her to gilbert veterinary hospital. They were the first vet to look for an underlying skin issue in combination with her allergies. Turns out she had a staph infection! Thank you to this office for finally giving us some answers. After 20 days of antibiotics, in combination to her allergy medicine, my sweet pup is no longer has sores from itching and her skin looks a million times better! read more

I've heard so many good reviews about this vet, so I brought my puppy who had been limping there to get her checked out. It turned out that she fractured her tibia and needed a cast put on immediately. My appointment was at 3pm and they closed at 6pm that day. I was told that I had to go to an emergency vet hospital to have her cast put on and that they could not do it there since they were "closing soon". So after spending the $50 exam fee and almost spending $200 for Xrays, I had to go to the emergency vet and spend another $100 just to be seen and ridiculously high prices for her cast, meds, and everything else she needed. The emergency vet did this all in under an hour and a half, by the way. I never go out of my way to write a bad review, but it needed to be done. The doctors/staff at Gilbert Veterinary Hospital simply did not want to do their job that day for whatever reason. I left there feeling like I wasted my time and money. Over the last weekend our dog stopped wanting to really get up. If she did she didn't want to put weight on her back leg and would sometimes hobble around. This office was so amazing at getting us in within days for an exam and X-rays. Jody was an absolute gem helping keep Harper comfortable and taken care of. We have been going to this Gilbert Veterinary Clonic for the last 4 years since relocating to Gilbert in 2016. They have a smooth operation there and have been so compassionate and caring for each of our visits. We have a beautiful Yellow Lab named Tia and she is very high energy ( even at 10 years old ) and last week she started limping so we scheduled an appointment and was seen on Saturday 6/20 in the morning. They are practicing Social Distancing and therefore require humans to call when in the parking lot and then wait outside in our vehicle. They were extremely nice and prompt to call us after the initial exam and also very informative with explanations for diagnoses and treatment. So after about an hour we were finished and Tia was back in the car and we had medication and a plan for recovery. I went to start my car and the battery was dead, so we had to call AAA for assistance and it was getting very hot and poor Tia was thirsty and panting so the nicest young lady named "Margeaux" saw that we were having troubles and offered to take Tia inside the clinic and gave here cool shelter and water while we waited for AAA. Margeaux also came out and gave me and my wife cold water bottles as well. After an hour, I finally decided to call Uber to get my wife and Tia home and found a nice driver who took them home. I waited another hour so 2 hours in the heat and there is Margeaux checking on me to make sure I was ok and brought more cold water bottles out for me. I finally got AAA to complete the Battery change and got out of there after 2 1/2 hours in the 105 heat and I just wanted to say Thank You to that awesome Clinic and Margeaux again for the compassion and kindness that was exhibited that hot Saturday ! This 5-star review is very VERY hard to earn when it comes to my cats. In my 18 years as a cat owner I have never been pleased with my veterinarian until I came here to Gilbert Veterinary Hospital. My primary vet is Dr. Foster and I cannot say enough amazing things about this woman. She is one of the most caring individuals I have ever met and she goes above and beyond what is typically required. My three kitties have been seeing her for about four years now and as I get ready to move I can honestly say that leaving Dr. Foster will be one of the hardest things about leaving Arizona. Two years ago Dr. Foster diagnosed my (then 16 yr old kitty) with intestinal lymphoma. I was floored and so scared about the possibility of losing my first ever pet and childhood best friend. Dr. Foster's concern was unparallelled and her efforts in providing me with all the information and help I needed to make decisions was the only good thing about this time. I had paid for expensive testing (ultrasound and aspiration biopsy at a place they recommended) to uncover the reason for her weight loss, so I could not afford the pricey consultation with a veterinary oncologist. Dr. Foster wanted to ensure she was giving me the best recommendations despite her limited knowledge in feline oncology so without me asking, she called one of her oncology friends and read the lab report to her by phone! She also read up on multiple chemotherapy options before giving me my options. We chose a high dose Prednisolone hoping it would give her a little more time and make her more comfortable, well two years later she is still comfortable and enjoying her life. Now I want to make it clear that even if my little one had only made it to Dr. Foster's 2-6 month prognosis I would give the same rating on her Veterinary care. It is not within her power whether the cancer progresses slowly or quickly, that was just our luck and the will of a higher power. But Dr. Foster's efforts, her kindness, and how she goes above and beyond for her patients and their owners is what is important here. Some additional examples of why i LOVE this place: - Dr. Foster is very honest, she will tell me when she thinks I should spend money on testing/ vaccines and when it isn't necessary or when it wont make a big difference in my pet's health. She get's that I want the best possible care for my pet but that I'm also on a student budget and my resources are not unlimited - Phone calls! She will return any phone call! I've had her call me back at 7pm because she hadn't left the office yet until she was done returning all phone calls. She will give me advice over the phone and doesn't just "insist" on seeing my cats for every little thing. Also- she calls on her own every couple months to check on my kitty with cancer and inquire about her symptoms and health =) -Dr. Foster also does animal community service and even travels to Africa to spay and neuter! - I have also seen Dr. Dudley on a couple of occasions and she is awesome as well. She was very attentive to my pets and treated one of my other kitties that is insanely aggressive at the vet. Dr. Dudley was not at ALL intimidated and got the exam done despite my cat's attempt to destroy all of us for bringing her there haha. -Staff at the front and vet assistants have ALWAYS been top notch. -Price- yes a little pricey here, but i think its fair. Honestly I wouldn't go anywhere else even for cheaper rates. Some things are just worth paying for. I highly recommend giving this place a try. I have recommended it to several of my friends. One friend's kitty had fatty liver disease and had a very poor prognosis upon visiting Dr. Foster and the surgery saved her life. My other friend brings his two cats here and loves the basic care he's received. read more

After 18 years of loyal business with this clinic, they still can't do anything outside their norm, such as squeeze your pet in for a same day appt on a Saturday. It's easier to say "no, nothing available" and recommend going to an emergency clinic. If looking for a place that shows they care even when it may mean they have to make a slight accommodation, this isn't the place. They're quick to say they're only a "primary care facility". This is one too many times for us, we're done with paying premium prices for this level of customer service. Hope the Drs know what the front desk is doing....Very disappointing. read more

I have been bringing my dog here for two years since I adopted her. I was never thrilled with the service but my dog has had one health condition after another and it seemed easier than switching and explaining it all to a new vet. Fast forward to this week when my dog has been so itchy she has been dragging herself along hot rocks, grass and pavement on walks to the point of bleeding, and the soonest appointment they had to see her was 5 days away - ok, fine. They got me in a day later with a vet tech for a cytopoint injection. I arrive to the vet and my dog dragged herself along hot pavement, she's too large for me to pick up but i was able to pick up her front half and make her back half walk into their office - I'm now crying from the struggle and exhaustion, frustration with the history and new issues, and my dog being in pain, and my dog was bleeding in their lobby and not one vet would come look at her. I was there for a half hour crying with a bleeding dog and not one vet could see her, or even have me wait longer to be seen for an emergency appointment. Last time I'll be going there. read more

My dog is a little pug/chihuahua mix, so she gets nervous very easily. At most vets, she shuts down. Not here. I have to say, I am very impressed. Not once did my dog shut down or feel scared enough not to receive treats from every staff member, even after getting shots and examined. Every staff member was so sweet and gentle with her. When we left, she had a big pep in her step, like "Hey Mom, that was a breeze! When do we go back?" We just moved here from out of state, so this is a new vet for my dog. Took my dog there since his eyes were red. I must admit I was concerned about price since it's a 'hospital'. Took awhile to be seen. They claimed that there was an emergency and that isn't the norm. I was very happy with the service and price was reasonable. The cream they provided fixed my dog eyes and I am now getting him groomed more regularly so hair isn't causing irritation. DR Bodie killed my 7 year Golden. She referred my to a specialist that did not want to do a ultrasound due to fluid.. B.S. and wanted Cat SCAN - she prescribed high dosage of prednisone for a GI trac issue but she really did not know what she was treating .. Dr Morley is her name,,she killed my dog. Both these vets never did a fecal test or urnine test. No one followed up with me from gilbert veterinary. gee you would think Dr Bodie would be concerned. Found out she took 2 weeks off to get married! while my dog was dying . I found out tonight that my dog file is 'PENDING' How can you sleep dr bodie and dr morley? We still use Gilbert Vet Hospital and have for well over 10 years. I can't imagine taking my dogs anywhere else. I have never had a bad experience at GVH with any of the vets, vet techs or front desk staff. I always feel that they truly care about my dogs. I have never felt that they were attempting to "up sell" services or products to me. I like that they have multiple vets on staff so you can usually get a same day appointment for emergencies or sick pets with one of the vets. One of our dogs became very ill from a foreign object in her stomach. They will refer you to a specialist if the issues are too complex-which is exactly what is appropriate. We have, unfortunately, had to put two of our goldens and one of our cats down and all times we were treated with so much kindness and compassion from everyone on staff. read more

DON"T GO THERE They don't care about pets! All they care about is Money. I was excited because my dog was going to have puppies. On the pre-care visit, I was told that they do an X-Ray and it would tell me how many pups and I need to wait till about a week before the due date. I called and was quoted $145.00. They took my dog into X Rays. I was never told anything about a price or the accuracy . Had I been informed I would have passed, OK FOLKS ON CHECK OUT I WAS PRESENTED WITH A $250.00. I complained then. She was shocked that no one had discussed this with me. She had me sign a copy. I thought it was part of the Credit Card Billing. The vet called me back and was rude. Her tone of voice was out of order, She acted like it was all my fault. She told me that she had told me all about the X Rays. SHE DID NOT! If she would have and told me about the inaccuracy I would have not agreed. Oh, No Worry, I would not go back here again. anyways So to pour salt in the wound I get this letter enclosed is s copy. They don't want to see Breeze any longer. Why cause they made a mistake! No worry I wasn't going back there anyway. Over $50.00 they take this unprofessional attitude. Wow, they really care about pets and Customer Service. DO WE WANT A BUSINESS LIKE THIS IN GILBERT!!! If You go there Stop at the bank and get a house loan1 LOL I am thinking about the Small Claims Court. I am sending a flyer out to 545 Homes in my community. My pitbull, Babe, was hit by 2 cars 6 years ago. She wasn't my dog then. But the owner could not take care of her 24/7 like she needed to be. I stepped in. Told Dr. Balke she was going to live if I had to strap her to a skateboard, in response to her suggesting we "put her down due to quality of life issues". She eventually regained her ability to walk. Dr. Balke was very surprised. I decided to keep bringing her back to Dr. Balke to remind her not to suggest death so quickly. She did not learn. Babe stopped eating yesterday. I called Gilbert Vet Hospital to see if Dr. Balke would see her today and accept payment Wednesday. No, according to hospital policy. That's fine. But the very next thing Dr. "put her down" Balke suggested, WITHOUT EVEN SEEING MY DOG, was to put her down. How dare you, after all those years! read more

This place is incredible. My family has been going to this vet for 25 years and we drive over 45 minutes to get there, worth the drive. Dr. Beverly Scott has taken care of 2 high maintenance dogs for my family and her care helped save their lives and make them more comfortable. Dr. Julie Bode took care of my special needs kitty and preformed surgery on him. Dr. Julie Bode was very patient with me and explained everything about the surgery and charged us below the projected price, it was an incredibly reasonable price for surgery. Dr. Amanda Dudley saved my greyhound when a previous vet at a different clinic gave us an outdated medication to treat his hookworms. The ladies at the front desk are very professional and kind. The vet techs are magical humans who are animal whisperers. This place has set the bar very very high for me, you should consider yourself very lucky if this clinic is in your neighborhood. read more

i've been taking both my dogs here for over 2 years. they're great about fitting you in, and have long hours and open on weekends so it works for people who work. we typically see dr. watson and really like her. she's great with the dogs and they're very comfortable around her. the office staff is great. they are always helpful when i have questions. they also have something called pet portal. it allows you to keep up to date on when your dogs need a visit for shots or whatever. you call also use it to schedule appointments, and then the office calls you to confirm. read more
