Teriyaki chicken and gyoza

Okay I don't do this often! But I tried this place on a whim and was not disappointed! Yes is it a hole in the wall? Yes!! Is it the cleanest? No! But after eating street food in New York I am not afraid! And most of the time the food is best in these not so clean hole in the walls! Did this place go into a clean plate club? Yes absolutely! The chicken was done perfectly! The gyoza was crispy! And the rice was so supple and fresh!

Please note- food was old from yesterday etc. I will never go here again- service was ok at best- Food sucks- example- beef had discoloring all over it. Portions were small and I actually had to throw away the Mongolian beef due to discoloring and poor taste- food was expired and they continued to use. Please do yourself a favor and go someplace else. Value if the food was good- none - small portions for 10-11 bucks you - please note no value here- GO SOMEPLACE ELSE-

This is a local place we have not tried until tonight - not sure why except it is small and sort of hidden amount the buildings. Sweet and sour sauce is great and the egg rolls are delicious for a Teriyaki place. The ambiance is nothing to brag about. The workers - I believe the owner - were what I call Asian Friendly. They were polite and helpful but did not make us feel welcome nor glad you came in and hope you will come back. I will have to try it again but first experience was good.

Push pin

I straight up found a push pin in my Kung POW chicken. This place should be shut down for something like this. That is beyond careless and I honestly have no idea as to how that could happen. I wouldn't eat here unless you want to take the chance on having something similar in your food.

Spicy Chicken and Mushroomsat Gikan Teriyaki in Milton, WA
Steph D.

Gikan Teriyaki calls it like they see it. Their dish "Spicy Chicken and Mushroom" is exactly that. For those of you who have already mentally checked out for the day, let me explain: It is nothing but chicken pieces, mushrooms, and spicy sauce. None of that crap some other competing teriyaki joints might put in the dish as fillers, like water chestnuts. Water chestnuts in a teriyaki dish are like croutons in a salad -- cheap, tasteless, and utterly useless. Not at Gikan #7. Friendly service and good food.

Tempura, and spicy garlic chicken in the back. :)

Yum! Chicken was perfectly cooked, and teriyaki sauce was really good. Salad dressing was on point. Rice was what rice should be. Satisfied.

I work right next to it so I'm constantly grabbing lunch from here. Ran by a sweet Asian couple and I always order the Beef & Chicken combo.

Yes, as a beautiful Black woman, I look much younger than my 45 years! However, I did not go out to a dining experience to be judged. POOR SERVICE!! UPDATE: I received a response from someone who identified themselves as the owner/manager. This person took no accountability for the poor behavior of their staff. I was told (among other dissatisfied responses) that they spoke with the server. Not once did they ask where we were seated, so how could you know where we were seated, to know whom exactly of your staff to have that talk with? Very poor encounter from management, and I see why their employees are no different!!

We ordered the Tonkotsu Miso Ramen, Spicy Negi Ramen (level 4 hot), an order of Gyoza, and an appetizer order of Karaage Chicken. Both of our Ramen bowls were absolutely delicious!! I'm used to eating very authentic Ramen when I lived in San Diego so this was a first for being in this area. It was a great portion size, beautiful presentation and everything tasted so good. I think the egg could've been cooked a little bit less so it would be not so well done so to speak, but it was delicious still. Also, the chicken appetizer was a good, but not as flavorful as some Karaage Chicken I have had. I probably wouldn't order that one again even though it was good, just lacked flavor and was a bit grisly. The service was outstanding. They are very kind and very attentive. The place is very clean. The bathrooms are nicely stocked and very clean as well. The lobby is beautiful and we will definitely be back!

The ramen tasted great but not impressive or memorable enough for me to drive all the way back to Federal Way. I dined in solo and actually didn't finish the ramen or even remember exactly what I ordered. I'm guessing it's the spicy negi. The broth was spicy and enjoyable but definitely didn't taste any different compared to other ramen places I've been to. I tend to eat slow to savor my food, but I felt like the staff was overattentive and frequently stopped by my table to ask if everything was okay. Gave me the vibe that they needed to keep themselves busy or I was taking up a table. Might be great for other customers but it affected my experience with dining in; I usually finish my meals at restaurants but I felt rushed so I just ended up bringing the ramen home for my son, after the second or third time of them asking me if I wanted a takeout box. I'm still giving 4 stars just because the ramen tasted better than mediocre, less than spectacular. I just have high expectations for ramen and prefer more broth/topping variety (I was raised in Cali with options i dearly miss). Plus, I do like that they added a full egg for the ramen (instead of half an egg, like other restaurants I've been to) and the chasu portions were fair. I haven't tried any other ramen places in Federal Way (if there are any), but I guess if this is one of the better options (according to Yelp), it might be worth a shot to try out?

Extremely Concerning Experience -- Poor Working Conditions and Serious Sanitation Concerns…read more My experience at this establishment was extremely concerning, and I feel that other customers should be aware of what I witnessed. I personally saw a rat on the premises, which immediately raised serious concerns about the restaurant's cleanliness and food safety. I had ordered the fried rice, but after noticing something that looked like rat droppings in my food, I was genuinely scared to eat it. I also overheard employees referring to something as "broccoli" in a way that made me concerned they might have been speaking indirectly about a rodent problem. I heard what I understood to be a comment about a dead rat in the sake, although I cannot independently confirm the details of that conversation. Beyond the sanitation concerns, I was very uncomfortable with how some employees were being treated. I witnessed servers being yelled at in a manner that, in my opinion, was disrespectful and completely uncalled for. One server in particular, Becky, seemed incredibly sweet, but she also appeared overwhelmed and overworked. The restaurant seemed understaffed, and it was upsetting to watch someone who appeared to be trying her best struggle under those conditions. Employees deserve to be treated with respect and given the support they need to do their jobs. I also had concerns about the apparent condition of some employees, as several seemed possibly intoxicated to me. Additionally, I questioned whether one worker serving alcohol was underage, although I could not confirm their age. Overall, this experience left me deeply uncomfortable. Between seeing a rat, being concerned about what appeared to be droppings in my food, witnessing what I felt was disrespectful treatment of staff, and observing other potentially serious issues, I cannot recommend this establishment based on my experience. I hope management takes these concerns seriously, investigates the sanitation issues, ensures employees are treated fairly, and verifies that all alcohol-service requirements are being followed. Customers deserve to feel safe eating their food, and employees deserve a respectful and properly staffed workplace.

The chef didn't have much personality and there wasn't much of a show or interaction, which has always been part of the experience we enjoyed here. The biggest issue was the lobster, which was completely charred and burnt. When I brought it to the manager's attention, I felt like my concern was dismissed. She told me that we had consumed it. I explained that we didn't want to make a complaint in front of a full table and disrupt everyone's evening, which is why I chose to mention it afterward. When I said I planned to write a review, I was told that no money would be taken off--and it wasn't. We have been coming to this restaurant for years, which makes this experience especially disappointing. Unfortunately, it feels like the restaurant has really gone downhill. I hope management takes feedback like this seriously because we used to really enjoy coming here.
