    Some wine tasting in Fillmore

This is a cute, quaint and fun little winery off the 126 in Fillmore. The wines are good but the service is better. The sommeliers there are always friendly, fun and informative. Take some time do wine tasting, then grab a bottle and sit on their patio outside. Definitely a must stop if you have time before heading to Ventura or Santa Barbara.

Expect the idiosyncratic and quirky at Giessinger. Almost every varietal tasted there is not at all like the typical flavour profile of that in California or France or any other region for that matter. Having said that, the next rule of thumb for Giessinger is the French aphorism, "Chacun a son gout." or To each his own (taste). In a lot of ways, this winery is in its own alternate universe when it comes to the world of wine probably reflecting the values, tastes, & perception of taste by the wine owner/winemaker. I do admire a person who can stick to his principles, and not be deflected by the opinions & tastes of others. Interestingly, I went to a Pop-Up restaurant by a chef, who is himself rather quirky in his culinary style. The chef was kind enough to post a menu with cooking technique & ingredients listed so that I was able to discern what wine might pair with the cuisine. I took my Saint Emilion from Giessinger which is an organic white wine & is made from "a rare French varietal". Saint Emilion is in the French wine growing region of Bordeaux but produces only Merlot, Cabernet Franc, & Cabernet Sauvignon which are all red grape varietals and are not particularly rare. So is Saint Emilion by Giessinger made from white grapes outside St. Emilion but still in Bordeaux? Perhaps it is made from a Bordeaux white grape varietal such as Semillon, Muscadelle, Ugni Blanc, Folle Blanche, Sauvignon Gris, or Colombard. Who knows? Giessinger Winery or at least its owner/winemaker is a mystery wrapped in a paradox, placed in a conundrum, locked into an enigma. Quite a few of the sweet dessert wines and ports are infused with other fruit or chocolate flavours so this might also be a bit unKosher for the wine purist. 3-- Yelp stars when one is in a forgiving mood.

Candy was an amazing bartender. Full of knowledge, and very personable!! The Symphony & Winter Raspberry was excellent! My guy really enjoyed the Petite Syrah. A wine tasting flight is $10 for 8. Candy is pretty generous, which was a nice change. I wish our travels had taken us back through Fillmore today, because I planned on picking up a few whites on my way home rather than attempt traveling with them. Definitely recommend dropping by. It's not the most beautiful, or impressive winery I've been too, but it was worth the stop.

This place is so cute in the heart of Fillmore. Absolutely adorable and the wine is GREAT! There wasn't one that I didn't like. Shelbie was so sweet and did a great job making everyone feel welcome and attended to. What a great place. Will be back!

This is probably my most favorite winery ever!! The selection is varied, so there's something for everyone!! Shelby (the hostess) is awesome, super friendly and attentive. By our third time there, she remembered our names and our preferences! Worth a visit!! Come and enjoy a glass!

I was in Santa Clarita for work and decided I would venture out to see wineries within a small drive from my hotel. I found Giessinger from a simple map search and I was very delighted with my experience. Janie, who did our tasting, added in pairing options and made our visit very amazing. It's a must for any local or anyone visiting from out of town. Oh and the wine is MARVELOUS.

Just outside the barn doors, nice little train tracks make the perfect photo backdrop!

Quaint little boutique with yummy wines! Stopped by on the way the way to Ojai and glad we did. They offered a Valentine's special, same wine tastings BUT with roses and cupcakes to go! We were celebrating my daughters 25th bday.. She had a great time!

I can't believe it took us this long to finally go because WOW! First of all, Todd and Melanie are the sweetest. So welcoming, so friendly, and just genuinely great hosts. They made the whole experience feel relaxed and special without trying too hard. The atmosphere completely transported me. It felt like we were in Paso Robles or Temecula on a random cozy wine night. Dim lighting, great energy, amazing pours. Ugh! such a vibe 10/10. For wine, I had two glasses. The NV Malbec and the 2023 Rosé of Pinot Noir. The Malbec was 100% hands down my favorite. Bold, smooth and packed with flavor..... just how I like my wine! The rosé was crisp and refreshing too. Anyway, if you love good wine and great service, this place is a total hidden gem. We'll definitely be back for more wine!

The place got packed pretty quickly so it was hard to move around. For the most part people just hang out at their table. The great part is that you can bring your own food and they have nice live music ( think Hotel California, and California Dreamin type of tunes). The crowd is mature and laid back. I like that people could bring their dogs and let them walk around, but in the back of my mind I was worried about stepping on someone's paw or in a puddle of #1. Luckily that didn't happen. The owners are really nice said they're expanding so that's great news. They have a nice selection of wine. On their paper menu. Tip- scan their QR code and you'll find more drinks- my group stuff two bottles of wine but I believe I saw someone drinking a glass of sangria? Nice to have a spot like this in town to relax and BYOF.

Much to my surprise, it was about as lively as I had remembered it. The Alley was established during Covid times and offered a retreat to escape from the humdrum of the homestead. These days, its friendly vibe welcomes neighbors and visitors with a backyard setting strewn with twinkle lights and family-style tables. It's a causal scene and easy to soak in the live music, sunlight/moonlight, and neighborly banter. The layout resembles an alley with shops on either side, big open doors invite you to grab something to eat, sample a drink, or shop for handmade gifts. On one side, you've got craft brews and coffee roasters. On the other side, it's local wines and piping hot pizzas. Dogs are welcome all around. At the center of it all, there's live music on the weekends. Modeled after a Beer & Wine Garden concept, The Alley features Enegren Brewery (beer), Lucas Sellers (wine), California Coffee Republic (java), Fire & Vice (pizza), and The Craft House (non-alcoholic tchotchkes). As a self-proclaimed wino, I opted for a sampling of the Lucas Sellers Wines. Ashley, who was behind the bar and top of the pours, gave me good suggestions and offered anecdotes about each wine on tap. At the end of the night, my light pinot paired perfectly with the Mushroom Arugula pizza from Fire & Vice. And I felt right at home, surrounded by friends.

They have a lovely place with wagyu cows, chickens, goats, etc as well as a BEAUTIFUL view of Ojai. Tour starts with looking at grapes growing on the vines, followed by walk into bottling / storage area, followed by tasting wines in their stunning backyard area. Others on the tour brought small charcuterie board ingredients and shared with everyone - would recommend bringing some light snacks for the tasting portion. Tour included about 10-12 people total and was completely free (!!) in hopes of attendees buying wine bottles at the end (which was fairly priced and very good - our group of 3 got 4 bottles for $120 total.) The owners are celebrating the lost art of breaking bread and sharing time and stories with strangers over wine - felt like something that you'd find in Italy. I didn't really know what to expect since there weren't a ton of reviews for this, but my group (2 adult sisters + our mom) really loved the concept of this entire experience. It's not a typical wine tasting where they give you 5 wines and leave you be at a table, so wouldn't go here if that's what you're looking for. But if you're looking for a unique, less touristy experience, this is an amazing place to learn more about the history of wine in the region directly from wine-makers, stroll around a beautiful vineyard, and connect with others in Ojai enjoying the same things. Cannot say enough positive things about Bob + his wife. Highly recommend this!!
