Before shopping at this Giant, I'm certain I had probably once thought to myself, "Who would write a review about a grocery store?" And then yesterday happened. I totally agree with Shannon P., every dairy product I picked up had expired 4-6 days prior. The best part was, I had to strategically reach for products as the guy was stocking the shelves where the expired products sat. I pointed it out to him and he removed all of them from the shelves, thankfully. but perhaps the stock clerks could be trained to check dates when they are adding new products to the shelves? Just a thought. There was one staff person whose way I had to move out of a few times or else I'm certain she would have shoulder-checked me. And the last offense I suffered was on my way to my car when the kid in charge of returning the carts to the queue hit me with a cart. Let me be clear: a runaway cart did not roll into me, this kid pushed the cart into my side. When I asked him to please not hit me with the cart, he mumbled an apology. Lovely. read more

Unit pricing is supposed to give a consumer an easy way to compare pricing. Giant has instituted a way to keep that from happening. Example: Blackberries. They have several brands and different sizes of each. One package has a unit price of $5.34 per pint. A 2nd package of same brand different size says $9.54 per each (no indication on package of the size). A second brand has a price of $6.21 per pound. By changing the units they make it impossible or very difficult for a consumer to compare pricing. It is like this in the entire store for nearly all of the products. Typical Giant. Every Giant seems to be forcing the self service option by having fewer express lanes open and this location is no different. They also dropped the 15 items or less to 12 and when customers with 80 plus items and are clogging up the express lane, i wish the cashier would speak up. I hate going there before 9 because there's usually just one register open and I hate using self check. Did you bring any bags with you today? I hate this question. Do you want me to sweep the floor or stock the place? Or the PNC guys that linger at the entrance or walk around the store looking for business. I'd also stay away from the older asian guy working in the produce section. He seems to bark at customers about silly stuff. Last week, a customer asked him "do you have any fresh bean sprouts" and he snapped back in a loud voice, "NOT HERE'. I mentioned to him that I've sometimes noticed them by the package lettuce and he barked at me "NO" and walked off shaking his head. read more

This is by far the best place to buy groceries from! They are always fresh and tasty, I think that it's hard to keep up this amazing work cause there is always going to be flys and bugs in some stores. They also have the best people working in here and I have made a lot of friends! read more

I'm a regular here & it is the best grocery store in a 5 mile radius. They have the best gluten free isle compared to the rest and saves me a 15 min drive to wegmans. But the employees are really what makes the difference. It's like an episode of cheers where everyone knows your name and goes out of their way to help you. this place is... MY SHIIIIIIIT. they gots everything you'd ever need. The same employees since 2007 (idk about you but this benefits my mental health), an inviting color combination (who doesn't love purple and yellow together), and a prime time location for girl scouts, boy scouts, soccer teams, those little baseball kids selling those booklets of coupons (which have always seemed like a scam to me, I wouldn't lie to yelp). One time I bought a box of frosted flakes and a NEMO spoon was inside. Again, this place is MY SHITTTT. Also in the past few months they added a wing-bar close to the dairy section. ITS MY SHIIIIITTTTT. it's so good, like actually. Also granola people know exactly where they need to go because the healthy isle has hardwood floor for some reason. So yeah that's all. If you decide to invest in giant as your primary grocer - you've made a great choice, but also be aware that the entire store decides to scramble every 5 years... oh god i'm old. i came here late Sunday night to purchase something from the customer service desk. the woman at self check out told me that she was one of two employees on duty, and asked me if i could wait for a few min for the other employee to process my transaction. after 10 min or so, the second employee came to help me. both employees were very nice, helpful, and extremely apologetic about the fact that i had to wait, which i'm sure is due to the entitled, rude attitudes of the majority of the public these days. literally everyone is short staffed, let's be nice to the employees who actually came to work. giant, there is no excuse for making these two employees run the show at night on a holiday weekend - i felt so bad for both of them (petite Asian woman and a manager with a beard and glasses.) they deserve better from management! read more

Does this store have any management, any that pays attention to the customer experience at least? Do they understand that their employees stand outside the entrance and smoke? This is a huge, bright, clean Giant. If you've been in many Giants before though, you'll know what to expect - it's pretty much standard for renovated ones. I thought the staff members were particularly pleasant and helpful. The only real problem was the lone entrance/exit, which seemed small for a grocery store of this size, and was a bottleneck for patrons. read more

I am in here all the time and the staff almost always takes the time to welcome me. If the store manager is on the floor he will help you find what you are looking for. So nice. The store is clean, well stocked and easy to get through. There is always parking and the hours are convenient. What more could you want in a store? read more

I was due for a time sensitive vaccine. The Pharmacy had the vaccine. I was told to talk to Ruth. Ruth was ready to process the vaccine until she found out the first one I had in my series was from a Walgreens several months ago. I've been on "waiting lists" from several pharmacies for months. Apparently no one has time or interest in calling people on waiting lists. Ruth scribbled my name and phone number on a piece of paper in a manner that no one would ever be ever to read. I already knew Giant's prices are high, selection is limited, and single line corridors in/out of the store are absurd and dangerous. But to now get denied access to a medicine that actually allows me to be healthy (and militarily deployable) takes the cake. read more

There was a puddle of water near the frozen section that caused my daughter to slip and take a bad fall yesterday. She didn't report the incident at the time and went home in pain thinking she would feel better. She awoke this morning feeling worse - body pain as well as one of her wrists (that she had landed on). I just called the North Point store and reported the incident to Ernie, the assistant store manager. He said he would report the problem to their risk management department and we would get a call back tomorrow. My daughter is making a doctor's appointment as I am writing this. I hope the store can handle this situation so that such incidents do not recur and to turn this bad experience into a good one for my daughter. We have been life-long loyal customers of Giants so we will see how they deal with this issue..... read more

I had switched to the Giant Store in Reston after having shopped at the Safeway in Herndon. I'm going back to Safeway because the Giant/Reston has gone downhill in quality. On 5/15/16, the store manager yelled at an employee in front of customers, saying, "I know who is supposed to be off, you don't have to tell me!" One of my favorite items there was the hot whole chicken. Lately, it hadn't been available. When I went there on 5/19/16, it was available but really DRY. And now checkout has those large bags which the checkers overfill and comingle warm and cold items. And what's with covering the potatoes with plastic tarp in the evenings? Maybe these are little things and a more patient person might not care. But I'm noticing many more indications that the store is going downhill and their employees are not happy. read more

We have been using this Giant store since it opened. We live nearby so the store is very convenient. In general, this Giant is pretty good - their produce is generally very good and at times less expensive than Wegmans. The Giant meats are also pretty good, but I like Wegman's fish department better than Giant's fish department. If you watch the special sales and stock up on sale items you can do pretty well at Giant. This store is somewhat smaller than the Giant on Route 7. The pharmacy has been excellent with a few exceptions in the distant past. The Giant bakery is good but it is also pretty small compared to other stores. It's a shame that they use so many of those self-service checkout lanes. I prefer humans. read more

This is our neighborhood grocery store. It's Giant, so not Wegmans or Whole Foods in terms of product selection, but the customer service is excellent. In particular, Carolyn is outstanding! I also love the Natures Promise organic line, which is high quality and well-priced. read more

I like this Giant, although it could be cleaner. I find the people here very friendly and personable, maybe it's because I have been a customer for 15 years, but the man who is outside with the carts is so friendly and sweet and the blond manager at the counter, and the bag boy who I think is mentally disabled, but he always asks if you are having a nice day. I only had one incident a few years ago with the bakery, a mistake made with a birthday cake, oh and recently I was carded buying beer because they didnt believe I was 41, I had to run out to my car to get my license and I was annoyed but they made light of asking me, which helped (ie. wow, I had a bet that you wouldnt come back because there is no way you are over 21). I moved to Herndon a while back and STILL shopped at this Giant because I can't stand Harris Teeter. I think Giant and Safeway have much better prices and the produce is better, IMO as is their seafood and deli. And I totally agree with one person who talked about the people selling things out front-ANNOYING, I hate going shopping and having boyscouts or some politician harrass me on the way out to buy crap I dont need (political crap and Krispy Kremes-both overly sweet stuff that you will regret ingesting sooner or later). Horrible customer service! Called to ask a question and the lady responded "Let me check, hold on a second". After holding for 20 MINUTES! I called back only for another person to pick up and to figure out the other lady on the phone never went and checked on on the issue for me. Seriously? The produce here is always awful. I vowed to only buy something if it's an absolute emergency and even then, my recipes are lackluster. The employees are nice overall, except for an older lady front manager with glasses and short curly hair. She never smiles and and is very unfriendly and shouldn't be in the front interacting with customers. The quality and freshness of items here is not so good. Harris Teeter is far better, but it's also more expensive on a regular basis. The new self-checkout is nice, but coupons don't scan easily. The machines are either very dirty or need to be updated. It's probably the latter, since I've visited the self-checkout at other stores where the machines work well. read more

I thought I would never write a review about a grocery store but here I go. First of this Giant in particular has slipped in its quality significantly through out the years. As mentioned before hand by other reviewers, the stacking of expired (especially dairy) on the shevlves of course first.. is more of a pattern than a mere coincidence. I am wondering if this is not a corporate policy to just sell what they have in stock so that money will not be lost. I wonder how many people have gotten sick from eating expired things. It is outrageous. I have found somethings to be even a month past the date and that was cottage cheese. All in all, Giants products have become more generic and their bakery is one of the worst in the area. The only reason I have it two stars was because it was atleast in Northpoint. read more

I started shopping here for the prices, the old store annoyed the heck out of me with size and customer service and how L O N G it took to get out. Even though this Giant is literally right next door I chose to drive a mile to Harris Teeter. After the renovation and the self serve hand held shopping scanners I went back and have been there for about 4 months. The prices are good and the people great; the 4 stars are 90% for the pharmacy. They know I travel for a living and take daily medication, they are always there to help me out when I need just 2-3 pills to get through my trip, they are great!. As for the rest of the store, the categories make it very hard to find things, after 4 months I shouldn't have any problem but I still have a hard time, was easier at HT. I have suggested that they put bag receptacles around the store for those of us who used the hand held scanner, we never know how many bags we'll need and have either too many which are left around the store or less and have to go back to the front of the store. They have thus far not done this. The store is much too cluttered with promotion boards or sales items which should be on shelves; the wider isles was a great idea but now they are too cluttered with junk, hard for anybody to get around. When the store is crowded it's a Giant hassle (pardon the pun). The manager is a nice enough guy but never follows through with requests or suggestions where as HT does. read more
