Thankfully I never wanted to rambo anyone so I stayed clear from emminent danger. Others, not so lucky. We had the Living Social deal (6 tickets for 30 bucks including gear, entrance fee, etc. Pay for paintballs) The lady and other staff were very helpful in getting my party of 7 (mostly newbies) squared away with gear and safety precautions. And minus the adrenaline-rushing factor, it was a great feeling when your team would win a few times. 400 rounds of paintballs cost 11.50 after tax. Lasts 3-4 games if you dont go crazy. Air is free to refill. Tips: - Take a dump before coming here - there are only portable restrooms. Ew, man. - Expect to at least pay 20 bucks extra per person. - Make friends and you'll have a lot of fun. We even got a free box of paintballs because a party just bailed and left it behind for us. - Dont be too scared of being hit or else you'll just stand around scared...like me. - If you have stray paintballs on the ground, DONT PUT THEM IN YOUR GUN. What a workout that was! I'm definitely gonna sleep well and get that hurt-so-good achy soreness tomorrow from this adrenaline laced activity. I bought a Groupon in advance for a party of 12, then went online to make a reservation. A sales rep called me back within 24 hours as the website promised and we went over the usual information. Checking in was a breeze and the guys at registration and equipment rental made sure our group was taken care of. The guys were great and immediately fixed or replaced any rental equipment, they also offered to help troubleshoot any issues from my friends' markers (guns) they brought in. Dylan was our dedicated concierge-referee for the day because our group was a private party, so no walk-on hardcore experts were allowed to blast our group of mostly casuals & newbies. Dylan made sure we checked out all the different fields (maps) and kept the pace moving. He is a cool dude, like the rest of the staff, and knowledgable with the paintball craft. The fields: Urban, Castle, Western, Spools, Grove. Each environment provided a variety of hard cover, terrain type, and boundary size to challenge any skill level. It's not the most number of fields for a San Diego park, but there's enough to entertain our group for several hours when you mix in different game types and objectives. My legs and feet are still feeling the effect of the workout. Another plus is the opportunity to see the Cleveland National Forest and its local flora and fauna. There still isn't a snack bar, so you must bring your own snacks and drinks. We hiked our coolers around the dirt trail from the parking lot to the picnic area. The general community of paintballer groups are respectful of each other's space. Giant Paintball has lockers available, but we felt comfortable enough leaving our coolers and extra boxes of paintball ammo unattended in the picnic area as we went off to play our matches. While some may find exception with the distant parking lot, port-a-potties, or no refreshment stand, I think Giant Paintball Alpine provides a very good time in terms of customer service and available venues that the negatives aren't really deal breakers if you know what to expect in advance. If you're not into the action, there's still Viejas casino & outlet shopping nearby and Alpine Brewery is just down the hill. We'll be back again sometime. read more

If it's your first time and bought a deal from groupon, you have an option to upgrade your gun (and I suggest you do!). The crew are helpful and will gladly accommodate a large group. I like that there are different fields and that this place is in the middle of nowhere. However, as others have mentioned, there are a few cons if you're planning on playing here. 1. No vending machines if you ever get hungry or thirsty. We actually took a break from playing and drove to Viejas to get some lunch despite us being covered in paint and dirt. 2. The porter-potties are definitely questionable so again if you can hold it just drive to the outlet and do your business there. 3. If you are an avid paintball fan, this place has more of a newbie feel to it. Overall, plan an entire day when you finally decided to visit! It's hard to quit when you're having fun. read more

I'm an avid recreational paintball player, not a pro but I love to play. This was my first time here. The first thing I'd like to say is that despite my low rating I still had fun playing here. I'm going to break down my experience in three categories: Facilities, Staff, Park Policies. Facilities: The fields were pretty cool, lots of cool bunkers, houses and natural barriers to hide behind. The castle map was entirely too large but the inside of the castle was cool. No speedball field. The parking lot was located about 200 yards away from the staging area so we had to haul our gear, kinda sucked and a little weird. NO food service. Staff: Extremely cool despite the terrible field policies (explained below). The staff were the best part of the park, refs did a great job of controlling games (although I felt that they let some games go on too long) and the people at the registration booth were helpful. The only down fall was the amount of downtime in between games. It was extremely hot so perhaps this wasn't all that bad, seeing as how I felt completely spent after each game. Park Policies: This was the absolute worst part about the park. No outside paint, gun hits count, can't use squeegies as barrel plugs, and many other little things made for an annoying day. The park's policies are the reason I will not be coming back. Final thoughts: I had fun because I was playing paintball. Otherwise, I was annoyed and disappointed with the park. I'd recommend looking elsewhere if you're an experienced player who likes the strong community feel of other paintball parks. weekend warrior? this place is perfect for you. for roughly $35 [if you are a beginner], you can get a full days of entertainment, exercise, and sun. better yet, viejas is nearby. $35 bucks on red and your day will be free - if you have my luck. so, what's so great about this place? -multiple courses. i guess all paintball parks have different obstacle courses, but this one relies more on structures than natural terrain [read that as less uphill running]. -rental guns are actually decent [compared to camp pendleton]. they aim true. -lots of parking space. -it's next to viejas. what sucks? -it's in the middle of nowhere, but that's the nature of most paintball parks. -it's ridiculously hot during the summer. -their rental masks fog up a lot. try shooting with fuzzy vision. -no refreshments, other than lukewarm water. i learned about dehydration the first time i came here. on that note, i'd suggest packing a lunch and bringing a cooler of drinks. the closest establishment is the viejas casino, but that requires driving - not ideal if you're caked in paint. just remember, "chicks dig scars, pain heals, glory lasts forever". note: **this place recently put a sign charging for air, regardless of groupons. write a complaint to groupon, and you'll be credited for that. the management here won't budge. **also, if you have a large group of 15+, reserve before the weekend. better to get shot by friends than strangers. read more

Giant Paintball's greatest asset is that they have an abundance a different playing fields. My personal favorite was a set-up that was made to look like some old Western movie where two gunslingers would meet at high noon to settle a dispute over some poker game gone awry. Of course there's the classic fortress that you can either defend or invade. There are a minimal number of "natural" structures, however, GP is still a far cry from those places with inflatable bunkers, structures, etc. Plus some of the field have enough bushes and trenches to have you feeling like you're on the front line. read more

My brother and I came out to celebrate his college graduation, and we had a blast! Everyone that worked there really made you feel welcome, and the overall vibe was excellent. I've been paintballing before, but this was the most fun I've had. The maps were really cool, and most of the people there were pretty good. (In the sense that there weren't 20 kids shooting aimlessly all over the place) I also accidentally left my ID, and they mailed it to me. Tim was especially helpful. So my friends finally got me to come out and try this paintball thing and i gotta say i see why they got hooked. At first it was just a paintball game and achance to hangout. Right into the second round it became a mission to get as many kills as i could before i got hit. The scenery provided is really cool helps if you have an imagination, same way video games work. Definately wanna come out again with a bigger group cause some of the people there I spoke with told me they have group discounts and exclusive reffs, so it would be cool to just play with people i know and save some cash but i dont mind either way. Tips (things i wish i had known lol): - Checkout youtube strategy videos - Dont get upset when you get shot early, it is what it is lol - Dont be scared, seriously this is all i heard from friends and players at the park when i asked for advice, get into it try to be strategic in some way I also heard about scenario events where its like battlefeild type stuff, doubt im ready for it but friends are already talkin about it so ill see whats up. read more
