At Giant Leaps Occupational Therapy, the way each child feels about him or herself is at the heart of our intervention. Our experienced therapy team focuses on a strengths-based approach to build confidence and resilience along with critical motor, social emotional and self-advocacy skills. We work with families to develop individualized strategies that children of all ages can use, with support and independently, to face and overcome the challenges they encounter and to participate meaningfully throughout their day.
Meet the Business Owner: Tammy B.
As Founder and Executive Director of Giant Leaps, Tammy oversees all aspects of center operations, ranging from staffing and professional development to managing contracts with CPSE, and school districts. Certified in the administration and interpretation of the Sensory Integration and Praxis Test, Tammy also evaluates, treats, and consults with parents and teachers. She is sought after by community groups, schools, universities, and professional organizations as an expert speaker about all things OT. Over her 28 years of practice as an OT, Tammy has worked with children, teens and young adults with Sensory Processing Disorder, ADD/ADHD, ASD, Down Syndrome, and Cerebral Palsy. Tammy has served as county representative to the New York State Occupational Therapy Association and she was the first occupational therapist to be recognized for outstanding work by the then RCSD Special Education Parent Teacher Association, and was presented with its “We Are One” award in 2003.
