You WANT to like Giant Burger because it WAS good back in the day, but I truly can't believe how bad this place is now. I STILL go there ONCE in awhile to give them ANOTHER chance, but you gotta be WAY drunk or stoned to think this place is decent anymore. Last time I paid $36 for 2 horrible watery milkshakes, cold very mediocre chicken strips, and cold greasy onion rings. On the last visit, two other locals were VERY upset with their service and orders ahead of me. I gave up on the burgers already because I ate the good ones here frequently as a kid. If you think the burgers are good here NOW then you just never leave Arnold; the quality just is NOT in this burger anymore PERIOD. The staff is generally nice and trying; they just aren't trained or monitored appropriately. My review doesn't really matter because the tourists will still eat here. I gave the newest owners A LOT of chances before I posted this crappy review. I just like good food and hate being screwed over and over. Oh well. I do appreciate the staff trying though...a lot! PS, I NEVER go in to Giant Burger at peak times on the weekends so my consistent bad experiences have been at times when the food should have been at least decent. Our order took FOREVER -- our number was called a FULL HOUR after we ordered (lunch for 4 on a Sunday)... and when my husband mentioned the long wait when he was picking up the trays, the worker told him "sorry we're not fast enough for you -- we're not McDonalds" (!). A simple "sorry for the wait" would have made it alllllll better... but he chose to go negative. We won't be back -- as much as we like supporting locally-owned businesse... the entitlemen/rudeness was enough to turn us away. Food was ok/fine, but we left with a bad taste in our mouth and want to save others from spending $70+ on lunch for 3 people, waiting an hour then getting rude treatment and mediocre food. After a long day of hiking in the redwoods four of us stopped at Giant Burger for food. 1. The guy who worked the counter was super busy, but also SUPER helpful and sweet. 2. There amount of food choices was perfect. This is a place for burgers, some chicken sandwiches, and a veggie sandwich, and ice cream. AND FRIES. FANTASTIC FRIES. 3. There is a sign that says everything is fresh because it is not fast food. It wasn't slow, but it was FRESH. 4. The prices were reasonable - more than reasonable. 5. The food was GREAT. OMG the burgers were soooooo good. And did I mention the fries? The fries are crispy and double crispy and just perfect. 6. We didn't get ice cream or shakes but they looked great - just like I had when I was a kid all piled high in the cone with that twist of chocolate and vanilla. Had two Giant Burgers with some chili cheese fries. We also got two milkshakes while we waited (banana and pumpkin pie. Cheese curds are an indulgent side. The soft serve ice cream is second to none. The staff is extremely friendly and delight in ensuring you enjoy the experience. Order at the counter and they have several items on their menu such as burgers, chicken sandwiches, shakes, soft serve and some specials. Didn't have to wait long for our food and everything tasted good. The fries had the perfect crispness on the outside and soft inside. I really liked my grilled chicken sandwich and everyone liked their burgers. The chicken can either be grilled or crispy which was a nice option. They also had kid's meals. Service was friendly and they even asked us how our meal was. Gave us the extra portion of shake which was really nice. Everyone was really working hard to get the food out. A great spot to stop for a hearty burger and an ice cold fountain soda, especially after several days/nights of eating backpacking meals. Quick, friendly service and a cozy-diner ambience with indoor and outdoor seating, and a respectable array of menu options including periodic specials. In my personal experience I had a blast dining at Giant Burger. I didn't have good signal on my phone and while we were driving on Highway 4 we saw this spot and we were really hungry after playing in the snow. I highly recommend this restaurant, their menu it's super short and that's amazing, their burgers are HUMONGOUS and delicious, their fries are super crispy and they provide a fast service. This place was amazing! After a full day at the lake we had hungry and grouchy kiddos and were on our way back to our airbnb to bbq. We passed Giant Burgers and decided to stop. It was 6:59 and this place closed at 7. I was headed back to the car when Dave insisted the grill was still open and to come on up for dinner. (Even after I said it was 5 of us!) :) Everyone there was so nice and welcoming. The food was so delicious. It was the best we had in Arnold. There was lots of laughter and full bellies. I have been here twice. Their burgers are good. Their fries are really good and their milkshakes are really really good! I definitely get full and not want to eat basically the rest of the day after eating their burgers. The first time I came here the customer service was not the greatest. The gentleman that took my order needed to be taught customer service (not very friendly). He looked miserable and looked like he hated his life. A few weeks later, we decided to come back and we did not see him. In fact, they had a "Now Hiring" sign up so I'm hoping they decided to replace him. Came here with great expectation to be completely let down. I understand Saturdays may be busy but there could be a way to add more staff to your schedules if there is a lack of help. It seems that this town displays nothing but bad attitudes from the gas stations to the restaurants including this one is just absolutely astonishing. I get your food is fresh but I think the length of time it takes for potato's be picked from the ground, washed, cut and put in a fryer to be done faster than my wait time for two orders of fries. I came with another family of four, and despite their sign claiming they don't serve "fast food," no one warned us we'd be starving by the time our food arrived. Burgers were mediocre. No flavor except for the off the shelf mustard. Their online order system was taking orders, but they switched order systems and didn't get our order until we arrived. After they figured out our order from the previous online system, our order was not brought forward in the que. We waited an hour after we got our order settled with the staff, and total wait time from placing our order was an hour and a half. They started on our order 45 minutes after we sorted it out with the staff. If this is the only burger joint in this town, I can see why it is still around. I see that we're not the only low-star review. I was chalking the poor service up to their claim of recent management change and ordering system change, but it looks like that problem and the wait time for in person orders has been around for over 10 months from this review. Pretty good burger. Portion of onion rings was small for the price. I also saw other reviews of onion rings that were burnt to a crisp. So, generally, I say don't order the onion rings. Service was okay. I tried to make a phone order in advance but no answer. I understand the area is generally short staffed right now and so I won't complain. So 9 years later we stopped at Giant Burger after reading positive Yelp reviews. We were pleasantly surprised by the change. Same 3 people as last time. Sat on the patio. We ordered Jalapeño Popper Burger, grilled Chicken Sandwich and a Double burger with cheese no onions. And our order was correct!! And the food tasted great.
