I ordered cupcakes and cake for my birthday parties, one on a Friday and the other on Sunday. I ordered the items on the Wednesday of the same week in store. The lady I worked with in the bakery was patient and gave me suggestions as I didn't know what I wanted as this was a last minute order. My only issue was that the cake I ordered was supposed to be Marble and upon cutting we saw it was just a layer of yellow and a layer of chocolate. She said they were able to make the round cakes in Mable. I called the store and was told that the round cakes weren't available in Marble and had I been told that when I ordered, I wouldn't have made a cake purchase. I was able to get a refund for the cake later the next week. Overall my guests enjoyed the cake and cupcakes but I will only be getting cupcakes or last minute ready made cakes from here. read more

I started going to this store after having poor experiences at the local Safeway. Initially I was pleased by the selection that was offered. Well stocked and plenty of sales. Recently I have noticed the meat department was not on par with the rest of the store. The last time I shopped there, two of the meats were out of date by a week. T-E-R-R-I-B-L-E....prior to Covid this store begin slacking and then the pandemic hit and every excuse they made was forgiven, we're still in a pandemic and it's worse than ever. They are ordering less items of all types and some items that were popular are not ordered at all! They lock up the soap so you have to go to an employee for them to take it out of the plastic box, and overall the customer service is lacking. I continue to shop here because it's close to my home BUT I think I've had enough. We're fortunate to have several grocery stores and targets near us so I may officially be done. The employees were scarce in the aisles, however that is okay because I am a self-sufficient shopper. What caught my eye on the way in and almost determined if I stayed in the store or not was the Unique Fruit. I took a picture of it. Unique Fruit looks like something that would be on an episode of Andrew Zimmern's Bizarre Foods. If you have not had the pleasure of watching this show Zimmern goes around the globe eating food that not too many other people would like to eat. That is how I felt about this Unique Fruit. It looked like an oversized bruise rotting orange. And they were $2.49 each. Giant must know something that I did not know. Everything was all well again when I hit the aisle that had four different varieties of Oreos (and that did not include the original). For the most part the store was clean and well stock. The cashier was extremely helpful. He saw my daughter was wearing a Bowie State University jacket. With her ID we received 5% off our entire purchase. I took one star off for that scary fruit that was at the beginning of the store. I recommend this Giant and will go again when I am in the neighborhood. read more

This store Manager Ron Holmes, his Non perishable Manager (Mike, I believe) and another associate where so gentlemanly trying to jump my car battery when it suddenly decided to "die" in parking lot after i just ran in to grab a quick item. Mind you it 24 degrees outside with a nasty wind chill. As a travel nurse who is away from home, this meant the WORLD to me. This review pertains to the Giant Pharmacy at this location, and specifically, to their Covid vaccination program. Giant Pharmacies in MD have started to give vaccinations, and you begin the process by trying to make an appointment online. That was the hardest part. The online system is overwhelmed and appointments are scarce. However, I was lucky enough to obtain an appointment at this Giant location. They were extremely organized and professional. There is a greeter at the door to give directions. You check in first at the pharmacy where they photocopy your ID and medical insurance cards. Then you are sent to a station where they review the informed consent form you completed online the day before your appt. You sign and initial. They send you upstairs to the mezzanine where you check in with the nurse. A registered pharmacist administers the injections. They make the second appt before you leave. The process went very smoothly and there were not a lot of people waiting, so the spacing felt safe and comfortable. This is a big store, which seems well equipped, so I will do some shopping there next time. read more

This is my grocery store. It's convenient in location and I shop there 3-4 times a week. The staff is very friendly. Though they sometimes do not have everything that I need, their selection is still big. It's an organized store and clean. Usually they follow through on not having long lines and are good at opening other registers when needed. It's never a long wait to check out, which is common with other stores. However, I have had problems buying meat from there. Once, I purchased $35 in veal cutlets and two days later (even before the "sell-by-date") it was all spoiled. I wasn't happy. Their steaks have been tough after light cooking as well. I just have to question the quality of the beef that they sell. The chicken and ground meats are good. Realizing nothing is perfect, I will always go back. I like being a familiar face there. read more

I love this Giant because it's so big and open. It has tons of selection and the produce - bakery - seafood - deli section is ginormous! The staff is friendly and helpful. Even during peak times you can get in and out pretty reasonably without a long wait in line or fighting with other shoppers to get around. Plenty of parking. Clean. I love it. read more

The local Giant! This is a super Giant and has an extended selection of authentic ethnic foods and is a blast to just wander around in. I am a fan of this place for the basic reasons of it being clean and the people friendly. "The Good" - There is a Redbox inside. - There is a PNC Bank inside. - A very decent selection of the staples. - The very large selection of ethnic foods from real Latino selections including some Jarritos, down to some Cadbury biscuits from the UK. I am a fan and the fact they carry various random stuff you cannot usually find anywhere without special ordering it is great. - Decent Fresh fish counter, they get deliveries on Thursdays. - "The Super Scanner" They have a price gun station at the front of the store that you enter your rewards card into. Take some bags with you and as you wander the store you scan the items and put them directly into a bag... So whats the benefit?? You let the checkout or the fast checkout scan the price gun and leave right after you pay.... its pretty cool for a few reasons like keeping a running total and acting as a shopping list so you remember what you bought. "The Meh" - Although the Super Scanner is cool... Giant I think wants you to stand in a lane with a cashier instead of the auto check outs... some of the coupon reading abilities fade as certain stations. "The Bad" - Nothing really bad to comment on. read more

When you call the pharmacy number at (301) 352-2364. It says Welcome to the Giant Pharmacy, and the address on Crain Highway. After a few more lines it says "We offer curbside pickup and delivery." But when I spoke to the pharmacist she stated "We do not delivery." I asked for a Manager and stay on the line for 30 minutes before I hung up. The prescription is a pain medication. A few days ago I returned home from major surgery at Georgetown Hospital. She asked if friend or family member could pick up the pills. It snowed last night an it's 19 degrees outside and windy. My elderly friends are not leaving the house. Have NO relatives in the DMV; they are all dead. I also have another prescription at this pharmacy that cost over $2,000.00 every three months. IT WILL NEVER REFILLED THER AGAIN. I wanted to ask the Manager if the pills could be dropped in a bag of groceries; BUTHE/SHE NEVER RETURNED TO THE PHONE. They have my phone number and could have called me back; BUT THEY CHOSE NOT TO. Come on people give me a break, EITHER CHANGE THAT MESSAGE, OR IF I HAVE ANY SEVERL PROBLEMS FROM NOT GETTING THE PILLS ...... I WILL BE CONTACTED MY ATORNY. This store is nice overall and does have a nice produce section. But, Giant is one of the more pricey stores in the area even in comparison to Wegman's. The thing I can never get over and keeps me from coming in though is the smell! The seafood smell dominates the entire store and makes it an unpleasant place to shop. read more

This is THE grocery store to go to on this side of town. It is HUGE and has a lot of selection/variety. The only issue I have it how difficult it was to find sun-dried tomatos and quinoa. They were not located in the typical places in grocery stores. Unfortunately the bakery doesn't seem to make enough of the sour dough bread bowls as they are always sold out when I try to get them. This makes me have to go to Safeway in Crofton (lest the one across the street actually have a decent bakery, which is doesn't). There always seem to be a proper number of clerks, unlike that ridiculous Safeway in the Town Center. Seafood could be better, but the produce is good and the bakery is ok. You can find almost any grocery item you'd want, except for some organic produce. Because the store is so large, it can take a while to find things. The bakery is really good. The bakery staff are on top of things, friendly and helpful and their cakes are delicious - moist, light and tasty icing. I've found way out dated food on the shelf and moldy fruit several times. I've even found dead insects in fruit packages. Another time I went into giant, all the fruit and vegetables were gone. BEWARE BUYING GIFT CARDS AT GIANT! Perhaps it makes sense that some gift cards are not refundable. BUT beware that if you buy the wrong gift card for a birthday/holiday or if they screw up the authorization and the card doesn't work when you need it, too bad. So say the managers and Giant executives. Buyers bear all the risk. Even if, for example, you grab an Xbox Live card (which is only good for a subscription) instead of the Xbox card with which one may buy games, etc., you are screwed, regardless if it is pristine, unused, unscratched, brought back to the store immediately. Many of the cards have multiple restrictions, caveats, special conditions, etc. that limit their use. You can spend hours reading the fine print on the backs of the cards, or just give cash or a check instead. Otherwise you're giving the celebrant nothing but a headache or a potentially worthless piece of plastic. In my case, I bought an Xbox Live card for a kid's Easter basket when I should have bought a plain Xbox card apparently. Little did I know that the Xbox Live card is only good for the annual subscription. Giant managers sent me on a wild goose chase to ask Microsoft for a refund. It took an hour and a half, but Microsoft chat responded in writing that refunds for unused cards (i.e., with unscratched activation codes) should be refunded at point of purchase. Giant refused, even though their own vendor stated this in writing. Gift cards are often a scam, and you can't be sure unless you take the time to read the miniscule Philadelphia lawyer BS on the card's backside. Don't buy gift cards. Use good ole cash or checks. read more
