Saturday night - the place was packed. Not a great time or place for a first date. The service was not alright. The food was really just okay. But, the noise level of one particular table, it ruined anything that may have been good in that place. AND, nothing was done to stop them. Nothing. There were about 15 or 18 people, sitting at one long table, who really needed to be calmed down. The noise level from the group was insane. The loudest voices seemed to be those of a couple of men at one end of the table, but there was also a women in the party who seemed fond of standing on her chair while shouting out as well. (Yes. Standing on her chair (at least two different times.) There was screaming and yelling, though the group seemed to be content and enjoying themselves. The management should have done something about it. The ruckus ruined the evening. Drinks kept on making their way over to the table as well. I guess anything for a buck?? It was shameful that nothing was done to tame this selfish group. Those in charge should be held accountable. read more

Came to the yonkers to work and wanted Italian. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. The woman at the front had an attitude and didn't want help with suggestions for my pizza roll. She acted like I was bothering her and didn't want to serve me. My food was throan on the counter any kinda way, just balled up. I won't spend my money at this establishment again. I smiled politely at the very busy pizza maker guy said gracias and took my margarita pizza to go. Giannas is the place to go if you want fresh, delicious and generous portions of great Italian food. The atmosphere is very relaxed and inviting. I have booked our annual holiday party for my job there for the past 3 or 4 years and the owner , Carmine, couldn't be more accommodating. He is so easy to talk to and always fair and so generous. He aims to please his customers and he does just that. The food is awesome. My favorite dishes are their hot antipasto, which can feed a small army, and the chicken capriciossa. The lobster ravioli is a big favorite with my family as is the pizza. I've never had anything there that wasn't delicious. Give it a try , you will be back for sure. read more

Went there for Christmas eve with family. The food was beyond horrible. I assume all the meals on the menu were precooked - The fish was mush and the service was the worst... This is a hidden gem in Yonkers! I came here a couple of days ago with my brother in law who had been here before. Service is nice the waiter refilled my coke without even asking me which is really pleasant most of the time you go to a place to eat and your begging for a refill. We had the buretta as an appetizer and even though it was late in the evening you could taste the freshness of the cheese and the olive oil was excellent. We also had the fra diavlo mussels which were good but my favorite was the calamari. It had just enough breading and it was nice and crunchy. My brother in law had the lamb chops and really like it and I had the chicken scarp which was awesome. I can't wait to come here again and try different things on their menu. read more

The Veal Parm was very good delivery was prompt and all seemed to go well the two stars are due to the inconsiderate manner they put to problems. The cold antipasto had bad bordering on rotten salami the manager wouldn't even call back The girl on phone offered a 50% credit I said this was fair she called back and told me the manager gave 25% and it seemed he wasn't even interested that people could get sick on this it's a shame that management has no people skills read more

The food is fresh and the sauce is pretty much authentic. It may have a different taste depending on what chef is in. I have never had any major issues here. One time my cucumbers were not good on the salad, but things happen. Overall the food here is good. I would have given four stars but the lady in the front seems so unhappy/unfriendly and she sounds the same way on the phone. Customer service is everything. Food is solid though.. we had a reservation for 15 people at this restaurant for lunch after the funeral service. We arrived at the restaurant 2:40 pm lunch is served up until 3 pm.But they gave us the dinner menu which we didn't request. we told the waiter we wanted only the lunch menu and he said it ends at 3pm. we said it is 2:45 bring us the lunch menu the waiter came back to the table 3:55 wi the lunch menu and said you have 5 minutes to decide what you want to eat. we told him we know what we want and are ready to order. Now it's 3pm and no more lunch will be served. I asked to speak to the owner and he brought me over and came back to the table and said the kitchen is closed for lunch now. I said that's do your waiter bringing the menu at 3:55. But no we can't help you. So we ordered food. All said and done the waiter was horrible the boss was rude and the food was Terrible . The food here is a big cut above any of the red-sauce Italian places in the hobbit towns of the Hudson River valley. They have excellent pasta, eggplant rollatini and other comfort food favorites. Unfortunately the only subpar things on the menu are the two items I order most: meatballs and pizza. Meatballs here were a little tough and flavorless the last few times I was there. The pizza is better, but has almost no cheese on it. Unless you ask for extra you won't notice it's there, like Pepe's tomato pie, but the latter is a much better slice if you're in the area. Solid. Nice, spacious restaurant, big portions. My life force comes from being really hungry and then starting a meal with a bit of bread dipped in olive oil with some parm sprinkled on it, and eating olives, while kicking off the meal with a cocktail or prosecco. They already had me here, because the bread is good and the olives are extraordinary. Wow such a great hidden gem! The food is excellent and plentiful. In the two times that I've been here, our server, Monica was excellent. If Yelp rated servers she'd get 5 stars too! I can't speak for the other servers but everyone always seems friendly and attentive. The prices may seem expensive but the quality AND the quantity is SO good that it's more than worth it. They also give you plenty of bread and butter. I had the Paillard which is like a Cajun spice chicken with broccoli raabe, mushrooms and peppers with gorgonzola (Italian bleu cheese) I love spicy, so this was a treat for me The gorgonzola added an extra flavor dimension I wouldn't have expected and it had plenty of spicy oil/lemon sauce to dip my bread in afterward! The only thing I can say is make a reservation because there is limited seating. However, you can always go to the bar and enjoy some of their signature cocktails while you wait! Sometimes they'll do a "Goodfellas" and create a table for you right in front of the kitchen, which makes you feel extra special! I love this place! read more

Highly recommended! It was a pasta kind of day, so I went to Gianna's for an early dinner. The peppardelle dish with short rib & Veg ragout absolutely hit it out of the park. The pasta was silky smooth and the sauce never overwhelmed. I loved it! And the service was great. Oh and did I mention the portion? I took home enough for two more meals. I heard great things about their Italian food so we ordered all the items recommended that we also loved to eat. I have the eggplant parm roll, friend calamari, penne alla vodka and the chicken scarpariello with mixed sweet and hot peppers. I was very disappointed overall. The calamari was not only chewy but had a fishy taste. It was almost inedible. The penne alla vodka was lack luster. The chicken scarp was decent but I could only taste one flavor - spicy. The chicken was moist and the sausage was good too but it was basic. The eggplant roll was delicious but I wouldn't go to an Italian restaurant for pizza. I would go to a pizza joint. Fantastic Italian restaurant. We were so happy that we found this on our way home from Maine to DC. Started off with yummy bread and complimentary olives Yum! Then we shared a cold antipasto, garden salad and a large pizza. It was enough for four. We eyed the hot antipasto and wished we had ordered that also. Anyone passing thru Yonkers must try. This was my 5th visit and my last. I had the Pasta Fazool, which was great, and the seafood salad, which I've had before, but tonight, many of the calamari rings were mushy. As I ate them, I was like, is this bad?? And then I'd have a good, firm one, and then another mushy one, and then my thought process was, is this bad enough to complain about? The bartender never came over to see how my food was. I was still very hungry after that and I had been chatting with two men next to me at the bar and when I saw the side of pasta he had, I thought that would be enough to satisfy me. Bartender gal informs me that it's their "policy" to not SELL sides of pasta. The only way to get one past the gate is to order an entree. It's not enough that my bill is $25 with the soup and salad, a point I brought up to bartender gal, more than the average price of an entree, who was only capable of parroting, "It's our policy. It's our policy", while shaking her head. I have money, I am the "guest" and yet they have this illogical "policy" that I cannot have something they make. The kitchen has it, and I want it and am willing to pay for it. They have a risotto side for $8, but they will not offer me a small bowl of pasta which is less effort and I'm sure less food cost. And bartender gal kept droning on and on about it's just their "policy" like it's a bank that answers to a board of higher ups in an international corporation. Policy. A freaking bowl of pasta that would have put a smile on my face and made this review the opposite of what it is. I worked in restaurants for 14 years and if the kitchen has something a guest wants, we give it to them or sell it to them. We make them happy so they return. This restaurant policy is beyond insane and for this reason you don't get my hard earned money and I will bad mouth you at every opportunity restaurant talk comes up in Westchester with anyone I know. And bartender chick lacks the ability to say "thank you" to guests after they pay the check. She just took my check without as much as a nod or eye contact. Chick sh*t? Maybe. The one saving grace of the night, is that the gentleman at the bar I was talking to, offered me his side of pasta, which I accepted. Thanks to Steve the kind customer, for solving my problem and putting a smile on my face unlike bartender chick, who thinks her hands are tied, who could have said to the manager or owner, "Hey this woman spent $25 and would like a side of pasta. Could we make an exception for her tonight?" And rang it up as open food. Duh. That would have been proactive and the right thing to do. We are your guests bartender gal. Your job depends on tips, which would have doubled what I left you on the soup and salad. Anthony & Carmine....too bad you don't have the class of Steve the patron. read more
