I had high hopes for this place, really I did. There is a dismal selection of fine dining in Yonkers and the local Italian food places consist of the pizza shops that throw canned marinara like its going out of style. The place itself has a nice ambiance. Contemporary dark woods, dimly lit, and you're greeted by a large brick oven area as you walk in. Hmmm, pretty swanky, I thought. My first order was a mini pizza- Quattro Formaggi. I figured it was a safe bet with the wood burning brick oven in the front. All my expectations were met. The pizza crust was thin and crispy, perfectly cooked. The mozzarella, fontina, parmigiana, and gorgonzola mingled delightully on my palate as I took bite after bite, wishing I had ordered a medium or a large! Thats where the love affair ended. The calamari was BREADED. I'm just used to having my calamari battered I guess. It was deep fried in a cheap oil and I could taste that residual bitterness of gross "frying fat" like after you bite into a McNugget. Blah! Marinara sauce was fairly standard but nothing outstanding. Another occasion I ordered chicken francese. Pretty common and standard, right? Yeah, exactly. Tasted very common and standard. Nothing spectacular. I also had the chicken parm hero- was soggy and blah too- and the eggplant rollatini gianna. The menu describes them as eggplant wrapped around "ricotta, spinach, and prosciutto". I was looking forward to this as I am a prosciutto fan. I take a bite of my eggplant and there is nothing there but ricotta. Oh wait, I spy a miniscule sliver of spinach. They are interspersed here and there in the sea of ricotta. But not ONE SINGLE piece of prosciutto. Not finely minced, not ground, not bits, NOTHING. I even called the restaurant inquiring as to why they describe the rollatini as having prosciutto. Response was that the filling is premade and there is definitely prosciutto flavoring in there. Its not supposed to be big chunks of prosciutto. Ummm.....ok. So there is not even a dot of red in the ricotta and the dish lacks the flavor of prosciutto. I don't know about you but it doesn't take a genius to figure out there was none in there. So I've given up on the pastas, appetizers, and entrees at Gianna's. However, I may go back for the pizza, which is the best in Yonkers that I've tasted so far. read more

Absolutely fantastic. I was shocked to stumble upon this place when I moved up to Yonkers. Actually, if it weren't for Dunkin' Donuts I never would have known the place existed because it's nestled on a business park side street and not really on Broadway. I went in on a Saturday night, and in spite of them being quite busy, they were able to seat us without a reservation. The entire place smells like brick oven pizza, and every time they open up the pizza oven door you get another wave. Yum! We ordered the penne ala vodka and the pasta with broccoli. The penne ala vodka was absolutely fantastic. It had the right amount of cream (meaning it wasn't too heavy), and the pasta was cooked perfectly. The broccoli pasta was also a real treat. They put a huge portion of broccoli on top, which is something you rarely see. Usually you get pasta with just a little bit of broccoli. The broccoli was cooked well, bright green and extremely fresh. Also, the portions for both pasta dishes were gigantic. We easily got two meals out of our dishes. read more

I extremely disliked this place. I was there for a party and I really didn't like it. The ambiance and the decor seems nice, but the food was prepared poorly. The pasta was in a bath of water- gross. This place is a favorite of a friend of mine, and we had an enjoyable meal here. The pizza was a misstep unfortunately - we ordered it without cheese, and so ended up with a thin, crispy crust with a little tomato sauce and a few anchovies on it - that was not worth the asking price. The seafood salad tho was very nice, and a sizable portion too. Bread, olives, wine, friendly service - check, check check, all good. I am probably not the best person to ask about Italian restaurants (I am totally lactose intolerant), but I would like to come back and explore their menu some more. read more

One of my go-to places to eat in Yonkers! It's great for celebrations or family dinners and especially convenient for takeout on a weeknight. They have great in house pasta specials, too. For a classic dinner, try the Filet of sole or chicken Francese. For lunch, get the house salad with chicken cutlet and bocconcini- you won't be disappointed- their house dressing is amazing!! read more

Ok I'm updating my review from a 4 to a 5. I really have not had a meal here that wasn't excellent. Last lunch here I had a pasta Gianna's and it was excellent. I've also had their personal pizza while with friends at the bar and that was excellent to. I've had their grilled chicken pannini, which you should only eat half and bring the rest home...same for the pasta. Such a good restaurant! LOVE the gnoochi!!! Ceasar salad, calamari, chicken scarpiello, penne all vodka, some of their delicious dishes!! The bread they serve is so yummy!! Take my review at face value. We only go there for the pizza so I may not be much help. The pizza is fantastic. I think the reason why it may get bad reviews in certain ways is it tries to present itself as a high class italian restaurant. It is simply a regular place to grab great pizza, a few drinks, etc. People probably expect more service wise and a quieter ambiance. If you go in and take it for what it is I am sure you will love it.... I personally do. Its casual. Plus its pretty inexpensive. If you want a 5 star 5 $$$$$ priced experience, actually go to one. We had our daughter's first birthday at Gianna's today and couldn't be happier with the way everything went. The staff couldn't do enough to help and were very accommodating with any requests we had! Monica was so pleasant and made everything so easy for us! She really made the day! The food was excellent as was the service! Great traditional Italian favorites and awesome pizzas. The Gianna pizza with anchovies and garlic is my family's favorite if you're looking for something other than a traditional cheese or a margherita. Their lobster ravioli is incredible, and their Chicken Scarpariello is one of the best around. Fresh ingredients, perfectly seasoned for great dishes. Have been here many times for dinner and for several events and I have never had a bad experience. I've taken out food many times as well (they make killer heroes). Nice ambiance, gets crowded quickly, but a really nice place for a family dinner or date night if you're in the mood for a quality meal. read more

I had food delivered. It came within half an hour and it was hot. I ordered chicken francese with a side of pasta, and an order of penne alla vodka. The chicken francese was so watery/oily and it didn't really have much flavor. The side of pasta had an embarrassingly small amount of sauce just splashed on top. The penne alla vodka however was delicious. For the amount of money I had to pay, I don't think the food was worth it. Sadly don't think I'll be ordering food from here again. I just had dinner at Gianna's. always a pleasure. Had a nicely made Manhattan and a ginormous plate of excellent linguini with shrimp and mussels, served with a dish of assorted olives and some breads. It was enough for dinner, plus tomorrow night. I came for the first time this past weekend and was very pleasantly surprised. While I found the marinara to be too sweet, I thought the food was very good. The fried meatballs are awesome and despite the sauce being sweet, my Chicken Siciliano was delicious. (I had it with a side of angel hair in garlic and oil which thankfully cut the sweetness of the sauce.) I went back a couple of days later to try the pizza (Bianco) which was delicious. I am so happy I found Gianna's because it is my new favorite Italian restaurant in Westchester! When I first came her I couldn't find the place and thought the location was weird but when I walked in the set up was beautiful. I am really big on seafood and it was super fresh and delicious! I got fried calamari to start which was cooked perfectly (I hate when it's stringy or too chewy). Then I got seared scallops and zuppa di pesce to share, they were incredible! Went there for Christmas Eve dinner first time as a guest. Both my date and I ordered Chicken Parmesan dinner, they both were cold and tomato sauce was like ketchup. Restaurant should be a disgrace to be called to be called an Italian restaurant. Waited ten minutes for manager to come, never came, got up, saw him talking laughing talking with somebody. We were staying at the Marriott Residence Inn nearby and found Gianna's via other Yelpers' reviews. Don't let the strip mall location fool you into low expectations - this is a fantastic Italian restaurant. Excellent Service is obviously a priority for the owner, management, and staff. We had delicious pizza for a casual late dinner on a Friday, then returned for a more leisurely fine dining experience on Monday. Each entree (lasagna, eggplant parmigiana, and a fresh fish special) was a generous portion and wonderfully tasty. You should treat yourself to dinner at Gianna's! read more

I was not satisfied with service, drinks and some of the food selected. There wasn't room to substitute for something on dish you were ALLERGIC TOO! The drinks were very weak n tasted way too watery. When asked to remove ice n have drink made a little stronger, was told "will be the same amount" (as if I didn't know that) if ice removed then "not allowed to make stronger"..WHAT? Never had this issue before even if I was paying extra! I believe the mixed drinks are PREMIXED and just poured on demand. Appetizer-Calamari was NOT FRESH(Semi-hard to chew). Salad was salty but "Chicken Milanese" was good but was VEAL and I did not ask for VEAL which, I was billed for. This isn't the 1st time I've been there so I had enough of the bad experiences and eats. Definitely NOT a real Italian Restaurant experience and eats! They can do way better even the waitress. one waiter was very nice but impatient when asked too many questions by guest who accompanied me. Waitress didn't even know their wines nor able to tell you dry, sweet or correct name of wine. So if ur desperate for a meal , fine but you want quality food..sorry to disappoint you. I love Gianna's food and atmosphere. I only seat at the bar cause I travel alone. The food it's superb and the staff is super friendly. I love the seafood salad, the Roma pizza is the best and don't forget the bread and olives.. Cool place to bring your family and to take out as well. My boyfriend and I dine in and take out on a weekly basis- we have gotten everything from stuffed peppers (from the specials menu), salad, pizza, chicken Marsala, and lunch items - chicken parm wedge. Never once had a bad experience. Everything is delicious and fresh. The wait staff is phenomenal, delivery guy is super quick and nice, and managers are wonderful. Four of us went for lunch and tried the eggplant parmesan (fantastic. perfect crunchy eggplant with a simple tomato sauce), pizza (very good), eggplant rolitini (very good), and a caesar salad (perfect for a non-anchovy eater). Their Rigatoni alla Ragu was pretty good, actually. Creamy pink sauce with a good amount of meat in it. Pizzas were OK, thought their anchovies make their pizza a bit on the salty side. As an out of town business executive, my business partner and I attempted to dine in the restaurant. I have never been so ignored by a wait staff for seating in my life. We were refused a 4 top table because there was only two of us dining, even though the restaurant was half empty. They told us to sit at two cramped seats at the bar; whereupon the bartender just sneered at us. We immediately decided to leave.
