If you want to pay top dollar for a sleepy attorney that will fight for you about as hard as a puppy peeing on himself, go to Gianelli and hire Sarah Birmingham. I paid several thousand dollars for her to show up late to court each time (bedhead included), be friendlier with the opposing attorney (her personal friend) than she is with her client, and do absolutely nothing that any person couldn't do for themselves. If you are getting a divorce, you are required to speak with a court-appointed mediator who will make recommendations. Do yourself a favor, save yourself several thousand dollars, and follow those recommendations, rather than pay this law firm to lay over and follow them with no fight whatsoever, charging you thousands in the process. read more

If I could put a few minus signs in front of the one star, I would. If you don't care what you pay for what services, then go ahead and give this firm a try. However, if you value your hard earned money and would like to keep your blood pressure in-check, then avoid this firm like the plague. Statements are mailed two weeks after the closing date and in my case, included charges for time spent two months prior. At first you might think that is a good thing, but when you look at the aging you'll see they have listed that charge in the 60+ days old category and then you'll also notice a Service Charge (1% per month on past due) added to the balance due. They ignore phone calls to dispute charges (I was billed for 1 hour office visit when it was actually only 9 minutes). This was insult to injury as he (David Gianelli) wasn't prepared and my drive from Sacramento was wasted. For me it was wasted time, but for David it was $350 billable time. I almost forgot to mention that all this occurred after pointing out similar errors in previous billings. I can only draw the conclusion that this billing practice is normal for Gianelli. In my opinion this is one of the law firms that perpetuate the public's perception that all lawyers are crooks. read more

If I had had an opportunity to help my mom find a law firm to do her revocable trust, I would NOT have recommended Gianelli and Associates to her. If you do find yourself in the position of being a beneficiary to a trust handled by this firm, you will need to be vigilant, thorough and a tough advocate for yourself in ALL matters. Demand to get copies of all documents as soon as possible and read everything. Don't assume anyone at this firm will be taking your interests into consideration let alone looking out for your interests. Don't assume that any document provided by an outside company such as an appraisal or bid for work is complete or valid. Don't assume anyone at this firm will provide equal access and equal processing time for all people involved. And above all, don't assume that this firm is at all concerned with the wishes and intentions of your deceased loved one. In other words, if I had had a choice ... if I had read the fine print on the testimonial page of their website ("These testimonials or endorsements do not constitute a guarantee, warranty, or prediction regarding the outcome of your legal matter."), ... I would have gone somewhere else. It's a sad and difficult time when someone we love dies. Make it easier on yourself and everyone involved by finding a law firm that values thoroughness, transparency and above all the wishes of the person who created the trust. Mr. Gianelli set up a revocable trust for my husband and myself. Years later, my husband and I separated and I contacted the law firm to obtain a copy of the trust. His assistant said she was instructed not to give me any information, including about my own trust. I later learned that Mr. Gianelli dissolved the trust per a request from my then husband. By law, he was required to provide me a copy of the revocation. He failed to do so, although he respresented me too. I had to go through an attorney to request a copy of the revocation of the trust, which Mr. Gianelli finally sent to me 18 months after the revocation. Again, he was required by law to notify me immediately upon revocation of the trust; however he did not, and thereby failed to perform his fiduciary duties. I would never recommend this firm, very unprofessional. read more
