I have been a long-standing patient with Dr. Fougy, (literally years) and i'm still her; the stability of my situation is mutually understood, and requires i visit only 3-4x's a year. Her office is, or will get crowded. Expect to wait Longer than your appt time. It is worth it. Just know that. The basis of a Psychiatry practice almost always means some patients genuinely need more time. Dr. Fougy provides that, Because She DOES care. Despite one reviewers rude remarks, I must say, I have NEVER found her staff to be discourteous- quite the opposite. They set-up schedules immediately, & work to accommodate a patient in need. As a psychiatrist-her difficult job is to interface with patients verbally, & evaluate a complexity of mental health issues, make the best judgment possible for that patient. Each one. If that is not true professionalism, i don't know what is. The face-face time is as individual as are people, and a doctor willing to listen carefully, ask the right questions, etc., is what a good Psychiatrist is all about. She works to find what is best for you.THAT's why some appointments take longer. The wait is worth it- you are not seeing a G.P., or Internist..Experts in Psychiatry can only get to know & understand their patients through thoughts, talk and motions. I Love the fact that she genuinely cares, and demonstrates that Professionalism to Every patient-this IS What any GOOD Psychiatrist does, & also why she has many patients. Dr. Fougys' concern is her patients mental well being. Her assessments are Well worth a bit of wait; that 'wait' time-nearly always used to attend to a new or in crisis patient. If she feels a patient requires a bit a more personal time, that's okay by me. This is how Psychiatry really should be...and, i will wait, as others once did for me. Dr. Fougy will spend the time needed, until she is Fully satisfied that she's what is best for each individual patient. In addition, my Rx's go through a mail order pharmacy-everyones' plan is different...but i call, and the Courteous & prepared staff, along with the Dr., always get my medication to me-via the info on file. I so disagree with one response-as it's very first sentence is so ironically inaccurate. There is Everything professional about this office...yes, you'll likely have to wait..but Dr. Fougy does Exactly what a good Psychiatrist is supposed to do - LISTEN, and use her expertise to help patients within a huge myriad of complex of issues/disorders/phobias, etc. - that affect our way of acting or thinking. Assessing one's mental health CANNOT be expected to 'fit' within a '20-30' minute (or whatever) time period. Lives don't always go as planned-i can remember some assistants leaving 4 other positions, several years ago..and that does happen, and there's little the Dr. can do to replace qualified staff immediately. I personally just dealt with some receptionist turnover, but have always found that she [Dr.Fougy] eventually finds the right team to work her office. I Have ZERO Complaints. I know i'll have to wait a bit, i view the consistency of some longer appointments as evidence that she spends the time each individual really needs. Psychiatry is NOT a Factory, and you don't want it to be! This is proof that She's a great doctor, & truly is concerned with each patients well-being; & will spend a bit of extra time with them, if needed. That's what a Good Psychiatrist does! read more
