I felt understood and that there was hope from the very first meeting with Dr Drell. He helped me through the worst time in my life when I felt depressed, anxious, confused and trapped. Even more important, he helped me see clearly how I was limiting myself in areas of my life that I thought were unchangeable. And he helped me develop the skills to change my way of thinking and reacting. I have worked with several psychiatrists and therapists, most have been supportive and caring but Dr Drell is all this AND so much more. He gets to the real heart of things quickly and helped me change my basic views and feelings about myself and what was possible. He is perceptive, practical, warm, and able to give very honest helpful feedback and he is very funny. His genuine compassion and caring makes it easy to discuss anything, face painful realities, and move forward. He focuses on the real issues that are happening now. He doesn't dwell on the past. He asks great questions and has wise practical advice that opened my mind to new ways of thinking. He helped me clearly see what I was totally unaware of and also face what I was avoiding. On the downside, he is in demand and I had to wait for an opening. But from the first meeting I knew I had made the right decision. Despite being busy I always felt he was there for me and available. I could always depend on him. Working with him helped me feel better than I ever imagined possible. I have never been more successful and happier. My decision to see Dr Drell was the best choice and investment I have ever made for my life.

She is extremely thorough, knowledgable, intelligent, compassionate, communicative, collaborative, and dedicated. She knows what she knows, but also knows what she doesn't know and can admit that. I tried a few different integrative doctors before I met with Dr. Chandra, but they either didn't have has much coverage as her, or they weren't collaborative partners in my health journey. There isn't an ounce of condescension in this office, which is refreshing. She hires the best people, too. They are intelligent, compassionate, strong, and dedicated, too. But most importantly, I'm able to function as a human being again, which is the best part. I continue to work with her to peel back the layers of onion that is my journey toward even better health. I'm very grateful for her and her team and I recommend her to everyone who doesn't know what in the world is going on with themselves. Our bodies are complicated, and they required a thorough, investigative approach to address as many sources of ill health instead of just covering up symptoms with a bandaid.

I come from a family of physicians in the DC area. My expectations of care are extremely high. The…read morereview above mine, written by a physician, hits the nail on the head when describing Dr. Plotnick as an "extremely skilled, compassionate clinician." In layman's terms, she is simply terrific. She listens to you and truly hears what you are saying, not what someone might project onto you or what a text book might say -- but what you are articulating, and feeling. She remembers what you told her long ago (about even the smallest things) and brings it all together, even when you may have missed it, or forgotten the moment until she reminds you. She will believe in you even when you're confronting times when you don't really believe in yourself. And she will help you become your own best champion. If you are a physician seeking a referral source, you will be hard pressed anywhere in the country to find a psychiatrist who will be as responsive, effective, insightful, and caring. She will help you get to the heart of the issues and coordinate seamlessly with you to provide your patient the care you would want for you own family. And nothing less. If you are a prospective patient feeling stuck in a specific facet of your life; need help sifting through muck from the past -- or present; want an opinion or clinician for very wise medication management; or are dealing with depression, anxiety, postpartum stress, marital conflict, or really anything else, you will be extremely lucky forever after to have landed in Dr. Plotnick's office or on her couch. For reference, the other physicians I use and swear by and can't say enough about in our area are Alan Pocinki (GP) and Brendan Burke (OB/GYN). Dr. Plotnick should be at the top of every physician and patient referral list. Five stars are not enough to sing her praises.

Dr. Plotnick is an outstanding psychiatrist, psychoanalyst, psychotherapist and consultant. I am a clinician myself - and, I have consulted with her on a number of cases. She is an extremely skilled, compassionate, clinician. I would not hesitate to refer anyone to her. She not only has a breathtaking grasp of clinical theory - she is very able to translate that into caring, effective and compassionate treatment. If I had a family member in need of treatment, she would be at the top of my list. It is a pleasure to give her my strongest endorsement.

Wow. Where do I start. This hospital ER I was in frequently for pain after a car accident…read more Eventually they saw me enough they must have labeled me a "pill seeker". I was in and out and got into it with a nurse after they tried to imply that I was there to get pills for the millionth time. They tell you to go to the ER if it's an emergency you know? And this is the treatment we get. I refused to take another pain pill to help the pain and thought they would help. I needed like Tordol and they kept asking me a million questions and paid no attention to my medication regimen. I was on A LOT of medications and was in the process of being ripped off all my meds. So I'm guessing I looked psychotic or like an addict. I don't get it. I was 16 years STONE COLD SOBER. I was looking for quality pain relief. The nurse blew up at me and never came back. I'm sure there are notes in my file now. And the fact that I'm bipolar in my file, I'm actually not after all these years. I'm guessing a lot of the medical staff thought I was just "mentally unstable" because I was labeled bipolar. They SWEAR they don't treat people with that label differently. It's a crock. So as I was in and out of the ER, a new psychiatrist was ripping me off psych meds that should have been tapered over 9 or more months. Then they stopped the Hydrocodone and Diazepam at pain management. The doctor I was seeing gave me 2 weeks supply. When I ran out I was cold turkeyed. NO ONE told me you cannot just stop pain meds and I didn't realize Diazepam is Valium. So I was ending up in the ER when my psychiatrist cut me off Klonopin. It was an emergency and again, I was treated like an addict and questions were asked like, "where is your doctor?" Like I remember exhibiting symptoms of AKATHISIA and I was screaming and crying and some nurse was just like "awe, poor baby, what's wrong?" NO ONE IN YOUR HOSPITAL EVER PICKED UP ON THE AKATHISIA I HAVE HAD FOR OVER 5 YEARS now! JUST NEGLIGENCE and MALPRACTICE from most of the ERs in the DMV area. If you're labeled bipolar, I noticed you are treated like you're mentally ill and the symptoms are psycho somatic. It's a nightmare what I've been through. NO ONE PICKED UP on the AKATHISIA. I paced and paced. I couldn't sit still. I couldn't calm down. The agitation was horrific. Just terror and torment. You all are supposed to HELP, not treat patients like trashy junkies! Especially when they say they have 16 YEARS STONE COLD SOBER! Wasn't looking to go to the street to get Klonopin. We came to you for help so many times just to get shit care where no one reviewed my meds or put together that I had in actuality been ripped off 9 meds by the time I ended up screaming and crying in your ER. Just negligent. Spend more time with your patients. I see the TikTok videos of nurses and doctors who think everyone is a stereotype. How they handle patients without a care in the world. Try Routine checks and actually talking to the patient. No one sat and listened to me. The ER system in the US is a tragedy unless you're a millionaire. You wonder why there are SO MANY one star reviews. And I've now seen videos of nurses doing things like saying "if you load the syringe like this, they won't get Akathisia." There are some sick people working in this industry who probably should have rethought the whole nursing or meds school. But that's what's expected every time I go to an ER around here. With things like a gallbladder they know what they are doing, but when it comes to psych meds, opioids, and Benzos, y'all are slow. Akathisia from withdrawals? Nope. Not even recognized by people who are supposedly trained medical professionals. Most of them have never heard of it. Real tired of people treating me like an active addict. Had another doctor while I stayed in the hospital at Holy Crap, they cut my Gabapentin dose from 1800 to 500mg. When the doctor finally showed up I was exhausted and was having Akathisia which they dismissed and didn't deal with properly. Sleeping medications were cut and I was given crap like Benadryl which did next to nothing. It was horrific. One nurse got on my case and when I told her I could go into withdrawals she just said "I know" and carried on. I was having a horrible time getting to sleep because it's the hospital and I wasn't given the proper meds. It was just a shitshow that seems to follow me everywhere I go. In May, we tried Suburban and the doctors there were clueless and made me wait hours to be seen!
