Parents, or soon-to-be parents, if you are considering Getzwell Pediatrics, let me tell you this wholeheartedly: joining Getzwell has been one of the best decisions we have made as parents. We have been a part of the practice for almost 5 years, and we have 2 girls. Before joining Getzwell we were part of another pediatric practice when our first baby was a newborn, and let me tell you the outstanding differences between Getzwell and most of other pediatric practices: 1. If you need to help after hours or on weekends you can call and take directly to a provider. I didn't really understand how incredible this was until we needed it. Most other practices have you talk to an advice nurse hotline, which is helpful, but they can not diagnose or prescribe anything. Talking directly to a provider can save hours of waiting in a crowded urgent care clinic. 2. All 4 providers are exceptional. We have seen both Dr. Getzelman and Dr. Glynn, as well as both nurse practitioners Alexa and Rachel. All are excellent! They go above and beyond. Dr. Glynn took the time to email me some ear oil recipes for my daughters ear infection after I spoke with her on the phone. Alexa let me email her photos of my daughters rash over the weekend to make sure that the medicine was working. Dr. Getzelman took the time to email me some supplements she recommended for me personally even though I'm not a patient. Rachel has taken my call after hours and she is equally patient, kind, and very sharp. 3. You get an hour for well child appointments. This is amazing!! Most practices the providers are rushing in and out and don't have much time for questions- but here, you have plenty of time to ask about anything related to your child's health. 4. No crowded waiting rooms. Have you never had to sit in a waiting room with coughing kids, runny noses and crying babies? Trust me, it can be really hard. At Getzwell they get you right in at your appointment time- I've never waited in the waiting room with anyone else. My only wish is that I could be a patient here too! Getzwell is truly outstanding. I was super interested in switching to this Pediatric Office. I emailed and organised a call as I'd a few questions. Not being from the US the healthcare system is an even bigger black hole. One of my main questions was pricing. A visit could be $20 or $20,000 and at this point I wouldn't be shocked at either. It's that much of a guess for me. I asked if they could provide the cost for a general wellness appt with no scans or bloodwork etc. the answer was no. She said prices are disclosed only after I come in and complete a meet and greet. I explained twice that I'd a newborn who hadn't had shots yet so getting her ready and driving to their location and having her in a doctors office when she wasn't yet vaxxed felt unnecessary and surely wasn't something a pediatrican would insist upon solely for me to get insights into cost structure, she repeated no price disclosure until I complete a meet and greet. It was then a harsh no for me. I loved the idea of Getzwell being a high touch, patient focused service whereas I felt like I was caught in a hard nose sales call. read more

After 14 years in San Francisco, we are moving. The hardest part of leaving the city, without exaggerating, will be leaving this practice. The doctors and staff give us personalized attention. We found out we are moving only about a month ago and they have gone above and beyond to help us be prepared and to make the transition. We feel GetzWell is a part of the family. His practice looks to solve problems not just pump out pills. children have a lot going on such as autoimmune diseases and attention and focus issues and after years of other doctors and therapies, I will tell you sincerely that the results we get through the advice and guidance and care from Getzwell has been the best use of our time and produced real results. We have been coming to GetzWell for now 2 years. When my son was born I didn't feel comfortable taking him out of the home for his 5 day check up so I was so pleased to find out GetzWell made house calls. When Dr. Glynn Came to our home she was gentle, personable, professional and put me at great ease. Fast forward 2 years and we are still so happy and grateful we found this wonderful practice. Our son saw Dr. Getzelman for his 2 year check up and she spent an hour talking with me, taking his measurements and even allowed my son to take play breaks to help him feel at ease. Dr. Getzelman is so reassuring in her demeanor and 20+ years of knowledge and expertise.. No wonder she was listed as the #1 pediatrician in San Francisco in 2015! When my son was first born, we wanted to check out several different approaches to pediatrics to see what would be the best fit for our family. We took him to newborn checkups and normal exams at both GetzWell and a more traditional practice. At first, the biggest difference was the time in the room with the doctor. At the more traditional practice, the visit were exactly 15 minutes, my son was weighed/measured and we talked through "concerns" only. At GetzWell, we spent 45 minutes discussing everything from what the best diet was for infants to what types of activities would help him thrive. It felt so much more comprehensive. My son got the flu on New Years day, a very inconvenient day to need to get a hold of a doctor. He was weak, had a very high fever and was only 8 weeks old. We called the nurse line at the more traditional practice and ended up waiting hours for a response, and when the response came it was a generic "go to the closest hospital", and there was no real follow up. With GetzWell we were on the phone with an actual doctor from the practice within 10 minutes. She talked over all of his symptoms and we made a plan to drive to UCSF. She was texting with us through the rest of the night and scheduled an in person follow up with us for the next day. We felt like we had a partner in a very scary situation and knew that that type of partnership is exactly what feels right for our family pediatrician. We have been with Getzwell every since. My son is now almost 10 months old and he adores Dr. G. We are so happy with our decision to join Dr. G and this amazing practice! read more

I would give Dr. Getzelman and her team a perfect 10 if I could! In this age of assembly line doctoring, where you get 15 mins with a harried physician who throw antibiotics at your kid, Getzwell Pediatrics is a true miracle and godsend to new and longer-term parents. Julia Getzelman has been my daughter's pediatrician for 10 years, and I am so grateful for her and her dedicated staff. In addition to being a highly skilled doctor, Julia is intuitive, empathetic, and uniquely versed in alternative treatments like homeopathy. She is patient and kind and my 10-year-old loves her almost as much as my husband and I do! We are currently addressing a health situation and if it weren't for Julia, I would be feeling a lot more worried and scared. I know she's my partner and is there for me when I have questions or just need reassurance. There is simply no other pediatrician in San Francisco who compares. She has even suggested supplements for me that have helped with a recurring health situation. I totally wish she could be my Primary Physician too! I recommend her and her practice 100 percent. and yes, you need to submit out-of-network claims to your insurance company, but...this is your kid's health! We are a very happy family who have been with Getzwell for 2 years since moving to the Bay Area. Finding a first rate pediatrician was of top priority for us. As my husband is in natural health products (from a more holistic approach) and I grew up with an MD father, we knew we were looking for a special type of practice. How lucky we were to learn that Getzwell was right in our neighborhood and practices medicine in what I like to think is the "old fashioned, patient focused" way. From well-baby visits, to routine follow-ups, we get first class care anytime we need it. It's about as good as having a physician in the family, after-hours messages are returned promptly and follow-ups from the physicians after visits are routine and help to put anyone at ease. We never have to wait in the waiting room when we are there, and my son actually enjoys his visits (even when he gets vaccines). Aside from the pediatricians who are amazing, the nurse practitioner was incredibly thoughtful and thorough for the visit we had with her, and the staff are always so professional and positive both in person and on the phone. The pediatricians are always willing to work with us to achieve our health goals with our son in the ways that we are comfortable with and are happy to answer questions and advise us where we feel we can use a little extra information. If anyone is looking for a truly superb practice, I would never hesitate to recommend Getzwell pediatrics. N.B. I know there is one review that mentions that the practice is out of network or isn't covered by insurance. While the practice does not take insurance, they do help you file insurance claims to your insurance carrier should you be uncomfortable or unable to do so yourself. I had issues with my first attempts at filing claims, and after a year of un-filed claims (and having reached my deductible), I finally asked for their assistance in filing claims. While they charge a fee per claim filed, not having to do so myself (knowing now I don't often get around to it with my busy pace life) is a real relief. Yes, insurance makes me pay the lions share my own, but I believe it is well worth it. I pay for out of network physicians and procedures myself when I need them with top specialists, why wouldn't I be willing to do so myself for my child to ensure he has the best access to care? read more

We have been with Getzwell for about 8 years and since our son was born and our daughter was a toddler. We originally switched to the practice to try their whole-health approach to treat our daughter's asthma. Dr G had a lot of ideas about how to assess the problem from a whole body standpoint in addition to traditional medicine (which was the only approach offered at our previous pediatrician). Our daughter eventually has outgrown the asthma and we feel Getzwell helped tremendously through those difficult times. We moved to Marin and we still come to SF to see Dr G. We have considered switching to a local practice but have chosen not to because of the level of service and quality that we get at Getzwell. First, they really know our kids and all of their issues throughout the years. Second, they always (always!) provide ample time for an appointment and listen to all the questions. Third, they are available to respond via email when necessary. Fourth, when calling during off hours you will talk with one of the people from the practice (often it will be Dr G herself.) Fifth, they will discuss all of the things that are a part of a growing child -- emotional well being, behavioral issues, social issues, and the usual milestone markers for learning as well as physical development. I rarely write reviews, but i feel compelled to do so for Getzwell Pediatrics, Dr. Getzelman and the entire team. This is what a real doctor's office should base their fundamentals of their practice on: treating a child when he's sick. Seems simple but that's the difference between this practice and the other pediatric practices. I found Getzwell as I had just moved back into the city - and my son went faint for a moment. I panicked and called the pediatric doctor's office which had seen my son fro birth to 12 months - they told me they were booked with appointments and there was no way i could see or even speak to a doctor! They told me I could make an appointment for 3 days later - but i knew my son needed to see a doctor right away. The only option they gave me was to go to the clinic at UCSF - but I had to wait 4 hours until it opened at 5:30pm! What doctor has office policies like that! I called other pediatricians, but they flatly turned me away as they didn't want to see new patients. I found Getzwell and called them - they immediately listened to the medical issues i was having with my son, and then asked me to hold so they could speak to the Pediatrician on duty - whom happened to be Dr. Getzelman. They said that the doctor would stay late for me, and to bring my son in right away. Even though I was not a member (at that moment) and have never seen this doctor - Dr. Getzelman most important issue was the health safety of my son. And that is priceless. So I signed up right away - it's worth every penny to have someone actually care about your child as if they are your own. When I call with issues - i speak with a doctor. After-hours, i speak with a doctor. It's like having a friend who is a pediatrician. Only issue is how am I going to get them to take me as a patient??? LOL Now, 3 years later, every visit is a pleasure - and my son LOVES all of the doctors. This is the way it should be. BEST DECISION I MADE WAS JOINING GETZWELL! read more

I can't say enough about Dr. Glynn. She is a rare gem. As a psychotherapist with a deep knowledge of early childhood development, finding a pediatrician for our daughter was not an easy task. I had high standards. Crazy high. Since we moved from the city to Marin we have been able ti stay part of the GetzWell family by visiting the Union Street location. We adore Dr. Glynn! She is always incredibly patient and attentive to our daughter and her questions, along with ours. She is straightforward, curious, and willing to go the extra mile to get to the root of health concerns. She is always available to answer emails and attend to after hours questions and concerns. Let's begin by expressing my immense love and gratitude for this clinic. We have been seeing them since my son was born (I have a review listed on their noe clinic) but the continuous and genuine care they offer cant be bought. I have called on christmas -my son had a high fever, weekends and they respond to emails almost immediately and follow up to see if everything is ok! This office will provide genuine, uninterrupted care/time. I have never been rushed or shut down to move to another patient. I LOVE them and am so grateful. My two kids who are now teenagers have been patients of Dr. Getzelman's for almost 10 years. I switched to the practice when I felt that traditional approaches were too harsh and not meeting my kids' needs. We have been extremely happy with the practice, and Dr. Getzelman in particular. She has developed a great rapport with the kids over the years and they trust her and feel comfortable with her as they grow older and their bodies are changing, and as they are more interested in their health and wellness. It's worth highlighting that Dr. Getzelman's unique knowledge, approach and experience is exceptional, and she has single-handedly managed to help my ADHD child become "non-symptomatic." Through a process of various specialized and cutting-edge tests, Dr. Getzelman was able to pin-point my child's genetic disparities which were causing ADHD behaviors and symptoms. With an elaborate course of supplements (and not medications), overnight my child was able to focus, sit still, and manage impulses. It was remarkable, absolutely unbelievable. It has made a huge difference at school and at home. More importantly, my child is now healthy, and no other doctor or method of diagnosis would have provided or allowed us the (terrifying) insight that his brain was suffering from an autoimmune attack, which was causing the ADHD symptoms. Dr. Getzelman is well connected in so many alternative communities, for those who like to seek out alternative treatments. She has introduced us to many practitioners in SF (osteopaths, homeopaths, acupuncturists, etc.) that have helped to keep my kids (and me) healthy and thriving. She addresses the WHOLE person; she doesn't just look at symptoms and treat them, she looks at the entire system of a family to ensure balance and well being. We were especially excited when they opened their second office on Union Street because it's closer to us and very easy to get to. The new office is just as warm and welcoming as their Noe Valley location. I grew up in SF and used to go to Getzwell. When I was in town recently and thought I might have strep throat I called the office to see where they would suggest I go. I was surprised when they said they'd be able to see me 2 hours later at their Union Street office. I ended up seeing Dr. Glynn who actually remembered me, and she sent my prescription in electronically so that it was ready when I got to the pharmacy. We had the pleasure of working with Dr. Sheibani during the first few months after our daughter was born. She was the doctor who did our newborn housecall, and the one we saw for our initial doctor visits. We had some feeding issues in the early weeks, and Dr. Sheibani went out of her way to help us with them - she even made phone calls to us in her car on her way home from work! Her advice came not only from medical knowledge, but also personal experience, which made her very relatable. Each time we met with her, we felt like family. Unfortunately for us, Dr. Sheibani has reduced her time at Getzwell while she pursues another area of pediatric medicine. Last we heard, she was filling in on occasion in the Noe office. If you have the opportunity to meet with her, take it! Although, you really can't go wrong with anyone you see at Getzwell. All the doctors and nurses that we've met with have a refreshingly holistic view to childhood health. read more

As a second time mom, I feel more clear than ever in what we need in our pediatricians. It's been a real honor to be in the care of dr Glynn and dr Getzelman, both caring and present providers, who have gone to extra mile to assure my sons' wellbeing. Dr Glynn is often on duty at the union street location and she blends competence, compassion and a mothers insight into the care she offers. My four month old developed pneumonia, which was a frightening thing, and meant we spent plenty of time contacting our docs and soliciting their advise. She was there, via email, checkins, over weekends and eves. She fielded even my silliest questions (which were not few :). I'm grateful to her for the endurance to see it through. She and Dr Getzelman consulted closely on the case and we felt we had two smart docs in our corner, 24/7. They took the time in required and operated prudently. Additionally, my toddler loves going to their bright office, which is saying something since it not infrequently results in a shot! He like to play doctor at home with his own stethoscope and sometimes he will say to me "dr Glynn is on vacation so I'm working today".. So he does identify Dr Glynn as a special doc that he emulates, even when he's pretending. They've brought on Karmi in the front desk who always has a smile and offers tea as I come in.. And another provider is now doing reimbursement work, so they can help you make claims if that's not a task you're interested in. From the in home first visits with newborns, to a slower vaccination schedule that takes the whole child into account, and the level of personalized care, I think it would be hard to improve on getzwell for pediatric care. Summary: Terrible service and sub par care provided by nice people in a clean office that costs a small fortune and is always out of network. Our full experience below. After reading their reviews their practice seemed to check all the boxes we wanted including a more holistic approach to medicine and vaccines. We scheduled our first appointment 3 days after bringing our son home. We had hoped to have him seen a day earlier. I asked if we could bring him to their offices, but we were told that the first visit was ALWAYS an in home visit. That was fine with my wife since she was still recovering from the c-section. A day before the scheduled appointment we were told that one of the new born screenings had come back positive for a rare metabolic disorder (citruline transcarbamylase deficiency). The physical symptoms include vomiting, lethargy, seizures, unresponsiveness and lack of appetite. Our baby had NONE of these symptoms. Regardless, we were told that we must get blood work done immediately. We rushed our newborn to the lab at 7AM the next morning (for an ammonia test). This was not a simple heel prick. The lab had to draw blood intravenously. By the time we got home from the lab (around 10AM) we had received another email from Getzwell saying that the original lab slip was incomplete and we needed to have more blood tests done. I was furious and spoke with the nurse practitioner from Getzwell. I was told that these instructions were coming from the metabolic specialists at UCSF and this was their protocol. If it was protocol you would think that the battery of tests would be standardized. We were told (again) that we needed to get these other tests done ASAP. We were scheduled to see Dr. Glynn later that afternoon and since our son showed none of the physical symptoms we decided to wait on the extra blood work to see what she thought we should do after looking him over. Dr. Glynn completed her evaluation and said that he looked pretty good (still had a little jaundice), but his weight could be a little low. She told us that his ammonia test came back perfectly normal, but we still had to go get the other blood work done. She said that we could possibly wait a day to do it, but that we still needed to get it done. She also said that we needed to bring him in the following day to get weighed to make sure he was gaining weight. While our baby seemed to be in good health it was tough to hear that we needed to bring him back in for more blood work. We scheduled the follow up appointment for the following morning at their office on Union St. and would head over to the lab if necessary afterwards (we were hoping to be told that we did not need the additional tests done). We saw Dr. Getzelman the next morning. She weighed him and that was it. He had gained 0.2 ounces over 18 hours! Great news, although it did seem kind of arbitrary since none of us knew if he needed to pee or poop and Dr. Getzelman never asked us when or how much his last feeding had been. We then asked her about the additional labs and if they were truly necessary. She said they were necessary even though our son showed no signs of the disorder. I asked her to call the specialists at UCSF to make sure that we weren't missing anything. She tried calling but said that she couldn't get ahold of anyone (it was 10:00AM on Thursday). She also couldn't tell us anything about the disorder and what that would potentially mean for our son if he did have it. We knew as much as she seemed to after doing a days worth of internet research. We headed back to the lab for another excruciating experience. The next day we hoped to hear from Getzwell regarding the lab results. No lab results, but we did receive receipts for the in home visit, follow up appointment and membership fee. $780 for the in home visit! $280 for the follow up visit (weighing only)! $310 membership fee! After getting some sleep and time to reflect upon the whole experience we can't help feeling taken advantage of and being treated like a cash register. I'm writing this review 12 days after we saw Dr. Getzelman and we still have not heard from them regarding our son's lab results! Considering that we were made to feel that getting these tests done ASAP was imperative to our son's well being we are shocked by the lack of follow up from them. Getzwell never seemed to advocate for our baby or us. They clearly do not have a handle on "specialists" they use and defer to. And they certainly did not provide anything close to concierge service. We found another pediatrician and promptly received an email from Getzwell telling us it would be $25 to transfer our son's records and may take up to 2 weeks to complete the transfer! They charged our card before they transferred the records. After some back and forth with their office manager they sent them over same day, but only after they rung our register one more time. read more

We have been with Getzwell for nine years, and have always found the staff to be extremely kind, efficient, and thorough. During a recent road trip we needed to speak with the on-call doctor about our youngest daughter, and she was wonderful, and enabled us to continue our trip without incident. Upon our return, although our primary office had been the Noe Valley location, that day going to the Union Street office was easier and they were able to see us straight away. We learned about Getzwell Pediatrics when our son was 6 months old. We made the switch to Getzwell as we were looking for a more holistic approach to our child's care. Dr. Getzelman and Dr. Glynn are both warm, caring, and completely present providers. They go the extra mile to ensure all of my questions are answered and will provide me with research on a topic as needed. When our son was 15 months old, Dr. Getzelman was right by our side to help us through an emergency ear surgery which happened to fall on Christmas Day. As first-time parents, we were scared and concerned. She put us at ease immediately. A few months ago, Dr. Glynn came to our rescue when my son complained of a sore ear. I called and 15 minutes later Dr. Glynn was able to see our son and diagnose an ear infection. She suggested a homeopathic approach which worked wonders. Four days later the infection was gone. We love the nutrition counseling, the delayed (if desired) vaccine schedule, the personalized approach to our son's care, the quick response time to emails/calls, the clean and happy office, and the knowing that we are in the greatest of hands. read more

I love everything about Getzwell. The care my son has received since birth from Dr. Getzelman and everyone in the Getzwell family has been outstanding. They're great with last minute appointments, advice over the phone, being on time with appointments, and most of all, listening deeply to any concern we have ever had. We've been GetzWell devotees since I was pregnant with our first child and Dr. Getzelman gave me invaluable advice about food, supplements, and general daily habits to ensure a healthy future for our baby, in far greater depth than my OB ever could. We've since had a second child, and everyone in the GetzWell practice has been fantastic at every step of the way. It was a hike for us to go to Noe Valley every time one of them had to go in, but well worth it given the quality of care we received. Since both my husband and I have busy work schedules, we were thrilled to see that this location opened up, which is much more convenient for us! It's a bright, beautiful office where everything is super clean (including the toys and books) and we always feel welcome to stay as long as we need to -- which is great, since our kids actually start to cry when they have to leave. Last week, when our daughter was there to check on an ear infection for the second time, she happily settled into a chair and exclaimed, "I like it here!" I really appreciate the holistic, personalized, and non-rushed approach that GetzWell takes to healthcare. We truly couldn't be happier with them (especially now that it's so convenient to go there). I signed my Son up to be a Patient of Getzwells' while I was still pregnant with him. I had so much faith that this was a Premier Practice and he would have incredible care. The first day my Son had diarrhea, I took him in for an appointment. There was no mention of dehydration, or was any real concern expressed about his sickness. While I realize a "bout of diarrhea" amongst children may happen; the after care by this Practice for close to 14 days failed my family so terribly that my Son ended up in the hospital for over SIX days. He needed to essentially be starved as he was put on complete gut rest and had to go into the operating room to have a PICC line inserted. A five-month old. Had I continued listening to Getzwell's advice: "kids get sick - can last for fourteen days", and not trusted my gut and called another SF Pediatrician, we were informed that my son was less than two days away from an urgent 911 call. I still shudder thinking about it. My Son was was considered an "extreme" case. Those are the words that the Hospital Doctors used when they looked at my Son. Yes. Extreme. He was anemic, had lost over 3 ounces in weight and dehydrated. Never once were my Son's blood levels taken by Getzwell, (or recommended to be taken). His minerals/nutrients never checked. Or his weight monitored. Very basic math tells me that if a child has recurrent diarrhea, he is probably losing weight. But more than that, he is unwell and his Pediatrician should be monitoring his case. I read the reviews below and realize, "they are not an urgent care/emergency room" but you know what, as my Son's Doctors, they are the FIRST line in a child being sick. I went to Urgent Care with my Son. I went to ER independently. I informed Getzwell as my Son's Doctors of everything going on. They did not act. They said they would get a "referral for GI appointment marked urgent." It never came and would have taken weeks. As Doctors, they have an obligation to be my child's first line of defense: do we as parents worry about a situation and escalate it or let nature run its course. I brought my Son in multiple times to see the Drs at Getzwell; I was made to feel as though I was over exaggerating when I tried to explain that my Son was very sick. He couldn't wear diapers his diaper rash was so painful from his frequent movements; upwards of 20 times a day. They recommended an organic diaper cream that you can't use on broken or irritated skin. How was that helpful? My husband and I both brought our Son in together to see Julia and spoke with her saying the care we were receiving was not up to standard for what we believe this practice stood for. She made me feel horrible and I left the appointment with her not even examining my Son. We paid $700 for these two visits [note: they've refunded the charges]. I spoke with Karmi, the office manager to have a chat about my dismay and a lack of care on my Son - the aftereffect provided no increased attention to my son's condition; instead Karmi had the audacity to call up my Son's new Pediatrician and yell at his office staff. Yes - they thought our new Doctor - who was actually monitoring my Son's case, [including, at one point, being on the phone with the OR managing by the minute, the amount of time my Son was under anesthesia during a tricky PICC line insertion due to dehydrated veins] - should spend his time responding to an angry office manager about a patient switch. I don't want to subscribe to the notion that they are the only holistic practice in SF. They are not. And I don't want to believe that because they recommend probiotics, that should preclude a Doctor from knowing when a baby is incredibly unwell. And they don't know. I'm writing this from one Parent to another: as a result of their lack of care, I had to watch my five month old have bruises all over his arms from IV attempts. I watched him be put in an ambulance to be taken to another hospital and then wheeled into an operating room & the doors shutting without me being able to go in. I watched my Son come out of anesthesia. I watched him have to be starved for days. And all of this could have been prevented with Doctors that took the initial proper care of my Son that I entrusted them as his Doctors to do. And a level of service they assure they can provide; and - let's be frank - charge for it. The Hospital Professionals (Drs/Nurses) were HORRIFIED at Getzwell's care of my Son. So leave with this; that's great that they can do baby well checks. Or staggered vaccines. But when children get sick, will they know how to act appropriately, and mostly will they care? I think not. And I can assure you they did not care about this "littlest patient." But I'm incredibly thankful to my Son's new Pediatricians (Dr. Oded Herbsman and Dr. Castelli) - that did. read more

We have been with Getzwell for over 5 years and are so grateful for the thoughtful and supportive care they provide. We are especially grateful for Dr Glynn at the Union Street location as she has been our primary doctor for most of our daughters years. I had a lot of anxiety around vaccinations and they supported my choice to do an alternative schedule and every step of the way, I felt like I was making an informed and empowered decision. We've also made it through several bouts of illnesses without needing to give her antibiotics, which is incredible. It is true that appointments are always on time and never ever rushed. When my daughter was five days old, I was struggling with breastfeeding like so many moms do. I went in to Getzwell a total wreck, crying and feeling like a failure because she wasn't eating. They sat with me for six hours. SIX hours! Helping me work on the latch and getting her to eat. And every time we call with a question or a late night scare, they are always there with a thoughtful answer and never make us feel like we are a bother. I just wish more people could have access to this kind of care as it is truly life changing. I honestly wish I could find a practice like this for myself! Thank you Getzwell!!! read more

Dr. G and team are wonderful, we searched high and low when our son was born for a great pediatrician that spoke our language and cared about our child. Everyone at Getzwell has been above and beyond. It is the whole body approach that really sets them apart. Dr. Getzelman has been my three children's pediatrician for the past 7 years. We were initially at a different practice in the city until my newborn got sick and after putting him repeatedly on antibiotics the doctor told me she didn't know what else to do. I sought out Getzwell Pediatrics and within a week Dr. Getzelman has solved my newborn's problem which never occurred again. We have since moved down to the peninsula and I still drive up to San Francisco to see Dr. Getzelman. That is how highly I think of her and her practice. It is a truly unique kind of medical attention that treats the entire child. I love the individual time I get with Dr. Getzelman, the nutrition support and creative ways to think of medical solutions. One of my children has asthma and behavior issues and Dr. Getzelman has developed treatment options for him without always relying on medication. I spent many hours during my pregnancy researching pediatric practices in the Bay Area in search of one that felt like the right fit for our family. I can say with 100% certainty that Dr. Getzelman and Getzwell Pediatrics IS that practice and I am so incredibly grateful to have found them. We took our daughter Caroline to Getzwell when she was 3 days old for her first appointment and from the moment we walked in the door I felt supported and at ease. It is not easy to make a new mother feel at ease! My husband and I truly feel like the doctors at Getzwell are part of Caroline's "team". It is invaluable to feel that way towards your child's pediatrician and I cannot imagine it any other way. The front office staff is incredibly considerate, competent and efficient. I have never once had to sit with our daughter in the waiting room. Dr. Getzelman and Dr. Glynn are both incredibly warm, well spoken and as good with new parents as they are with kids! Our baby LOVES visiting Getzwell. I would think that was kind of weird if I weren't so grateful for it. I feel like I can (and do) ask them anything and they never make me feel dumb or silly or like I don't know what's best for my daughter. They are supportive and full of good information and sound advice. Anything and everything they've ever suggested to us or instructed us on has been presented in such a kind way without the slightest hint of condescension. For this I am incredibly appreciative. I feel as though they have taken the time to actually get to know our baby. Sometimes I'll watch Dr. Getzelman just observing her during our appointments and she's suggested things we might do with her (ie start solids or certain developmental exercises) based on these observations. There is no way a run of the mill pediatric practice is going to take the time to do this. It's little things like that that may not seem like much but they mean the world to a new mom who's trying to do what's very best for her child and learning as she goes. Collectively all of these things make Getzwell far superior to any other medical practice I've ever experienced (pediatric or otherwise). My daughter Charlie received Getzwell's care during her first two years of life. We have recently moved away and so are moving on, but we are sad to go. Dr. Getzleman and her team are truly caring and their genuine interest in the total well being of the families they work with is clear. We've been with GetzWell for over 4 years and with two kids. Julia Getzelman is the definition of a conscientious, caring, and invested care provider. They really practice "whole kid care" here, making sure to address not just physical health and development, but social/emotional and behavioral wellness. They are also very knowledgeable about the latest research in food and nutrition and have a refreshing integrative approach that employs the best aspects of both natural and western medicine. The hour-long appointments are not rushed, are so very thorough, and allow both the staff and families to form a relationship. I am deeply grateful for the amazing care Julia and her team have given my children over the years. One of my kiddos has severe immune issues and we have had our share of acute events with both kids. The pediatricians at GetzWell have always gone above and beyond to research, discuss, and guide us. For the longest time we have gone to their original Noe location, but since moving to the East Bay, we have gone to Union St. a couple times and it's just beautiful. Both locations are spotless, comfortable, and inviting for both kids and parents. (Yes, that's right- we moved to the East Bay and still commute to GetzWell because we simply couldn't find anything close to the care we so love and value.) My only regret is that we didn't start with GetzWell from the very beginning, but I am so glad we discovered such a wonderful and supportive resource. So far, we are really in love with this practice. We were searching for a holistic pediatrician that supports trying homeopathic remedies before going the more conventional route, and we were extremely relieved and impressed when we found Getzwell. We just had our first appointment for our little one with Dr. Sheibani and as many other reviews have stated, we walked right in and immediately sat down with the Dr. She took the time to answer all of our questions... next thing we knew it had been over an hour! This was also after they were so flexible with the appointment time as we adjusted to our new 'schedule' with a newborn. Dr. Sheibani was even willing to work later to do a house call for us, although we ended up going in. All of the people we have interacted with at the practice are so friendly, compassionate, and knowledgeable... we really can't say enough great things about them thus far. We just transitioned to GetzWell in the Marina after spending my son's first 20 months at another pediatrician's office. The transition has been incredibly smooth. Their office is well managed, communications are easy and timely and they always follow-up. Dr. Glynn was great at our first wellness visit, asked thoughtful questions and had a good dynamic with both myself and my son (who, I will be honest, hates going to the doctor at this point).
