I really appreciated his thoroughness, and also his diligence to keep the house as clean as possible. I say that last point because he had to go in and out of our house like a hundred times and each time he was careful to take his shoe coverings on and off. That kind of diligence means a lot because it shows he pays attention to detail. At the end of the day, our house was given the assurance that everything is good to go for the winter and that's all I needed. Even more important, he wasn't trying to add more fees or unnecessary repairs to the house. Well done!

I had Norfolk Air Htg & Cooling come out for an assessment / quote for some minor work. Turns out…read morethey are insanely expensive compared to some other licensed HVAC companies. $89 just for the site visit, which the tech said could NOT BE APPLIED to their cost of work. Their quotes were ridiculous. $358 to clear 2 condensate lines. $287 to add a condensate drain joist strap. $358 to replace 6 feet of insulated flex duct. All very accessible. Another company came out the next day and INCLUDED in their $99 site visit they cleaned out both condensate lines. Their quote for the remaining work was less than half what Norfolk Air Htg Cooling quoted, and the technician was far more friendly and explained things very well (I'm an engineer in 4 fields). The only positive was that Norfolk Air Htg & Cooling was very responsive -- same-day for a non-emergency. (but the other company was also just as responsive)

The technicians are all very knowledgable. In the past, I have had young technicians come over my house that didn't really know much. That is definitely not true for these guys. 6. They moved my thermostat upstairs to a place that is more suited for the structure of the house (under return in hallway as opposed to two (2) thermostats: 1 in master bedroom, in which there is no air handler, and the FROG). 7. They spent a good amount of time adapting my new air handler with existing duct work. I will definitely make Mike my "go-to AC guy" from now on.

I did a little research of reviews for HVAC companies in Chesapeake and found Simmons had great ratings. I found quickly why they had 5-stars! My previous HVAC contractor had been out twice and I was left with, " you need a new thermostat" and left with a cold house. That's when I found Simmons. They were very responsive and were out within 8 hours. The technician was very polite, professional and explained everything about the system (since I was unfamiliar with a dual-fuel system). He identified the problem and made the necessary repairs quickly. Having had a great experience then, I put the system under contract with them. Since then they have not let me down. They have kept my system in excellent condition. This week I suddenly had an issue with heat. Called and had a technician here within 3 hours. He got the system working but the next day I had the same issue and on one of the coldest days the system was out again. I called after hours and within 15 minutes had a call back from the on-call tech who said he would be here in 20 minutes. He was. The problem was so minute, a loose connection, but trouble shooting that was a pain for him, but he found the problem within 15 minutes. Simmons is my only HVAC system contractor. I know the age of the existing system and understand it only has a few years left in it. I feel confident that Simmons will keep it running great and when the dreaded day comes, it will be Simmons technicians installing a new system.

However when the technicians came today it was only for one AC they have to come back again for the second AC and heat, but when they came today, they were charging us $415 to have our AC cleaned technicians were great Cameron and Ada but the company they're kind of ripping people off because they're very anxious and eager to have a tech come out they blow up iPhones or text messages only to find out. Yeah they're going to find something wrong and it's an additional 400 and some dollars don't don't buy the maintenance agreement.

I asked my daughter who she used before in an emergency and she gave me the name of Guy Smith (Brian-the tech). Brian said he would be able to come out but it would probably be after 10 PM and he explained the charges-service call, after hours charge and the price of any parts. So far, so good. Brian got to my house about 10:30 PM and very quickly diagnosed the problem as a bad capacitor (his part #T600409 a 35 + 5 Dual Capacitor) on my Goodman Unit (Model #GSZ140241KH). Brian replaced the capacitor and ran tests for the operation, filled out his paperwork on his iPad, took payment, then left. Brian did a SUPERIOR job. Quick, efficient and pleasant to have fix the unit. Zero complaints on the tech or the service. No issue with the service charge or the after hours charge BUT was shocked at the price I was charged for the capacitor-after the fact. I had no clue as to the price of that capacitor. I searched many places for the prices of the official replacement one and nowhere did I see the price for the capacitor over $50. I understand a markup, but I was charged $385.88 for the capacitor alone. I guess maybe $100 to $150 with the markup would have been in line. I stopped by the Guy Smith office on Monday and spoke to the office manager (Antoinette) about my concern and she took a copy of my invoice and said the owner would follow-up. Today is August 13th and I have had ZERO follow-up. I believe I was charged well over $200 (being generous) MORE than I should have and would have at least appreciated a call/email/text from the company. NOTHING. I did read the reviews of the company...a lot good, some bad. Place my review in the "bad" column due to being GOUGED on part pricing in a bad situation.
