Nadia is such a competent trainer, keeping my workouts varied and challenging in just the right way. I have injuries that she competently works around, keeping me training hard enough to strengthen me, but not hurt me. I like the facility, everything I need there, and centrally located for easy gym runs when the mood/time strikes. She mixes science based testing to help me gauge my progress. I am doing really well at this gym. I highly recommend her for all ages. read more

This is a wonderful supportive and safe place for workouts and a variety of strength training. Nadia is a fantastic support and a knowledgeable coach. She knows how to push you towards your goals without browbeating you. Additionally she has a Bio Density machine to help build bone density and keep osteoporosis and osteopenia at bay. I would like to warn anyone that uses the sauna in this gym that they should use infrared sauna eye protection glasses. Nadia did not warn me that they should be used and there were no signs posted to the effect. Since using this sauna last July I'm still suffering the effects of vision loss and eye aches. read more

I have been working out at Body by X for two months now. It is the most fun I've ever had working out! The bodies walking around in this fitness center are to be awed. Xavier and Nadia are the nicest people and have really fun ways to get you in shape. They also have a machine called the BioDensity which is really great for strengthening your bones in cases of osteoporosis. I love coming here and highly recommend it. read more

There are lots and lots of trainers out there - only a subset know what they are doing - and only a subset of that subset of those are really worth your time. These two are beyond worth it. I really feel accepted and loved here. The staff is fantastic! Nadia and Teri do a phenomenal job and have gone out of their way to make sure my experience is golden. An interesting thing happens when you're surrounding by folks that care: you work harder and want to be there, even on the days when you'd rather not get out of bed. Body by X is super clean (they even use EO toxic free soap!), has a nice mix of high quality equipment, and instructors that really know how to kick your butt (see Teri, she's an awesome butt kicker). Yeah wow, I'm not sure where the person who gave this gym one star went but it could not have been Body By X because my experience was completely the opposite!!! X (Xavier) himself trained the living @#$%^& outta me!!! I was actually shocked on a number levels. #1. He got me, he actually got my number when most people never do. And he knew exactly how to "train" me to the best of my potential. #2. I thought I was a hard trainer. I thought that because I push myself physically on a semi-regular basis that I could handle his training with no problem. Ummm NO! #3. I was sore - really sore in a very good way, for 4 days afterwards!!! This is a fantastic gym and I had a fantastic experience. It's small and intimate and people say hello to each other!!! This is the most amazing, comprehensive personal training and skills development program I have have ever worked with. Not only are there the traditional "pumping iron" dead weights and machinery, but Xavier McClinton, the lead trainer and owner, brings a relentless " you can do more and you WILL do more" attitude to each person he works with. "X" , as he is known by all, is also an expert basketball trainer, and brings his will to win and " never give up" work ethic to a couple of local school basketball teams. This guy has no comparison as far as I'm concerned, and he turned my son Max's work-out life around, getting him to do things no one, let alone Max, thought he could do. Swoon. I love the aerials class so much I even pay the bridge toll to take it. GREAT stretches and good workout. So while I'm there I watch some of the trainers and think it would be good to add that to my work outs. They are positive, upbeat, motivating and challenging. But it doesn't feel like a gym you need to be fit just to go there. All kinds of bodies, ages, young kids doing basketball drills. Good energy all around. But I still love the aerials best. It's not silks - it's more like aerial yoga, but you get to try more tricks too. And who doesn't like a good trick!? Don't worry Nadia - I'm back soon! read more

The person who gave one star to *BODY BY X* absolutely had to be thinking about a different gym. My positive, upbeat experience is the total opposite of what he reported. I'm hooked on BODY BY X !! BODY BY X is a warm and friendly neighborhood gym, just off Highway 101 in east Corte Madera. I love working out there! This grandmother finally decided to get in shape and boy, did I find the right place. X (Xavier) and his wife Nadia made me feel welcome from Day One, introducing me to other members for a personal connection. Plus they give great hugs for Hello and Goodbye! All the class trainers are good and very encouraging with newbies like me. No cranky, unsmiling teachers here! They give me positive feedback while I'm learning, which keeps me motivated. So far I've done indoor cycling, rowing, stretch, and yoga. Other, more advanced workout classes are offered too. The personal trainers, including award-winning X himself, are skilled at getting you to push beyond what you thought was possible, and finding the right workout mix for each individual body. In a very safe way. I've talked to several other members who have some pretty amazing stories of their own progress here ... about weight loss, injury recovery, bone-density-building, and otherwise. Their machines, and free weights, are all in excellent condition and the gym is very clean. Music from an awesome sound system is always on and fits each class perfectly. It's always a different mix. During non-class time the long movie sound tracks are ideal for individual self-directed workouts, whether on machines or free weights or stretching on a yoga mat. I live about 7 hours away from their Body by X shop, and I wish I lived a lot closer to it. My wife and I try to get an Osteostrong treatment from Nadia whenever our travel takes us through their neighborhood. I had a personal training session from Xavier as well. Both of them are great people, "super like-able" (slang for super like-able), and absolutely competent in their work. The few visits we have had have been a real treat. read more

Took my group of au pairs to a aerial fitness class at this gym last night - SO MUCH FUN! Nadia was fantastic teaching first timers how to use the hammocks. I was so impressed by how well the group caught on. If you are looking for a fun way to get in shape, this is it. Five stars because it won't let me give more. As someone who hasn't worked out in literally years, I was a little nervous about joining a gym. That all went out the window the very second I met Nadia. She is so welcoming and encouraging, I can't even begin to describe it. Everyone is so nice, there's none of that snooty attitude I've found at a lot of other places. They really take an interest in actually getting to know you, and have built such a great little community. In my opinion, this is the only place worth going. read more

I hesitate to give away the secret of Body By X, but good gyms and teachers deserve it. I've been taking aerial yoga with Nadia and this woman rules. She's confident in her abilities and teaching skills. She is commanding, but not obnoxious. She's extremely supportive and also self-effacing (which I love.) Aerial yoga is less yoga and more strength training and acrobatics. It's not easy, but once you get the hang of it you feel like an absolute rock star. Nadia is the best teacher you could ask for. Body by X is not like any other gym I've been to. It's small, and the owners, Nadia and Xavier are warm and caring and want to make sure that everyone is doing their best and happy. They are always eager to answer questions and help. It is not a "scene" like so many other gyms, and everyone I meet there is nice. They've got the best state of the art equipment, and offer a wide variety of classes. I especially enjoy the Thurs night rowing class with Barry. It's a great workout for the upper and lower body simultaneously and Barry keeps it fun and interesting. this is a very nice small gym, with all you need to get a good workout. place is clean, people working here are nice and owners are very involved with their clients. this gym is in the industrial building, so space is limited, but very well utilized by gym owners. the trainers who are working there are superb, being personal trainer myself, i have to say that their trainers are very skillful and pay highest attention to their clients' needs. why 4 stars instead of 5: 1) lack of showers (only 2); no designated changing room; 2) no organized childcare in case you want to take a class and have no babysitter for that time; however, the place is VERY family friendly, you can bring your kids there anytime and, if your kids can look after themselves, they will be fine. better yet, let your kids to take a class along with you! read more

My family toured this gym a few months ago. Xavier was so friendly and helpful, easy to talk with, not afraid of our endless questions and concerns. I asked him to stay in touch with us until we were ready to start working out. Well, my family members decided to put their exercise plans on hold, and with Xavier's gentle reminders, I finally showed up for myself, by myself. Amazing, unique place. Genuinely welcoming and warm, no matter what your age, shape or size. I'm an unfit mother of 3, including twins, in desperate need of Shaping up. They truly have the best quality fitness class instructors you could hope to find. So far, I've tried rowing. Stretch and flex, spinning (low intensity) and fly gym. The owners have clearly gone out of their way to find the best of the best for all their classes. It really helps that the owners take a genuine interest in their clients - unlike any gym I've ever joined. My boyfriend and I have been Body by X members for several months now and it's our favorite gym ever. It's small, clean, well-equipped and friendly. The TRX classes are phenomenal. Xavier and Nadia are welcoming and fun, always happy to answer questions and celebrate success. I get high fives when I show up and it's noticed when I don't. I joined this gym and am glad I did. I am taking the spinning, weight training, and Pilates classes, and the instructors are competent and enthusiastic. There are several personal trainers around, and the owners, Xavier and Nadia, are omnipresent, caring, and knowledgable. It is a family gym, with men, women, and some children around.
