So I took my 5 lbs of pecans to Get Crackin'! for shelling and what a great experience it was. From the outside, the shop looks like a cute little gingerbread house nestled beneath a big pine tree with lawn in front. As you enter, the sensuous but faint aroma of very lightly spiced, flavored and candied pecans is in the air, pots of water are a-boil sanitizing and cleaning the yet unshelled nuts, while the sound of serious machinery is heard crackin shells. This immaculately clean shop is owned by the Ms. Lynn Ligon who greets you with warm smiles, friendly conversation and sincere good cheer as she continues going about her business, doing eight things at once efficiently. Though my 5 lb bag was only a small job, Lynn gives the impression of welcoming and treating all customers with equally courteous attention--good customer service coming naturally to her. And the price? Very reasonable. I was not disappointed. I have nothing but praise for Get Crackin'!. It's a first-class shop owned and operated by a very congenial lady. From the time we called to get information on having our pecans shelled until the time we picked up our shelled pecans, we were WOWED! The owners of Get Crackin' were extremely courteous and friendly. They were knowledgeable and very personable. We have used other shellers, but nothing has compared to the quality of nuts we got. This is our 2nd year using get crackin for our pecan shelling. We were completely satisfied with our service last year and came back again today. I brought my pecans in to get cracked and they came out almost completely shelled. I am so happy with the outcome of our pecans that I am telling everyone I know and bringing the rest of my pecans very soon. The new location is beautiful and is very inviting. You can sit and wait for your pecans to be cracked or drop them off depending how busy they are. read more
