Been anticipating eating here for months since I read an interview with the owner who aspires to create "the best fish and chip shop on the A303". fish and chips is one of my favourite treats and I have eaten them frequently enough to feel confident in assessing the meal. Presentation was nice, service friendly enough, price was relatively (to other chippies) ok. The food itself: chips were soggy, floppy and tasteless. The fish was dry and basically not fresh. There was very little in the way of flakey, moist fish goodness. Caveats: I have just returned from Scotland where the fish is usually amazing. Also, maybe there aren't any other fish and chip shops on the A303. And it is Tuesday. Maybe tuesdays aren't a good day for fresh fish. Either way I won't be returning. read more
