I'm a Believer! Meghan Schmit is a very talented healer. I…read morewas seeing a conventional podiatrist about a bone spur in my heel that caused debilitating pain. My doctor wanted me to get an expensive MRI as a likely prelude to surgery. But I had heard about some great work that Meghan has done and thought that maybe I should investigate her approach before I start down the more conventional path of Western medicine. That was a very, very good decision on my part. I met with Meghan about 10 times over eight weeks for acupuncture on my heel and leg. Each session usually lasted about 45-55 minutes. In that time, Meghan got me back on my feet, pain-free and so much more. Not only did she effectively address the pain but she also prescribed a daily routine of specific stretches to help me get to the root of what caused the spur in the first place. And while we were at it, because I had mentioned feeling congested from allergies, she concocted an herbal tea recipe that completely cleared that up as well. Acupuncture and herbal medicine have been around for over 3,000 years. So I probably shouldn't have been surprised that it was so effective. What did NOT surprise me though was how thoughtful and careful and creative Meghan Schmit was in diagnosing my situation and expertly delivering the appropriate remedies. That was exactly what I was told to expect and she delivered the goods. Meghan takes her profession very seriously. And she is very, very good at it. I only wish there was a rating higher than five stars. --PH (63 y.o. male)

She was so friendly, warm, and intuitive. It was my first time seeing a chiropractor, I was slightly nervous and def had many misconceptions about a chiropractor. But the whole experience was super positive. Her office is very comfortable and she has many resources. I love that she combines many different techniques and really customizes them to your needs. She is very knowledgable. During the session, she applied gentle pressure and pointed out some tight spots, which with some manipulation, felt much better after. I was pleasently surprised. She kept checking the baby to make sure it was moving and that she wasn't making me uncomfortable. Im keeping my fingers crossed that this baby turns, I've even scheduled a second session to prepare for my next ultrasound to check the baby position. A huge plus is she accepts insurance... go see her, she will help you!

This review is for Dr. Josh Akin (also, Chicago Chiropractic moved its Northfield office to 562…read moreGreen Bay in Kenilworth). I'll start by saying over the past decade, I've been to a few chiropractors with limited benefit and after the first couple appointments, would dread going and wasting the time/money, feeling fairly sure the "treatment" was getting me nowhere. The difference can be summed up by the fact that I look forward to appointments w/ Dr. Akin. I strained my back showing snow in Feb 2021, saw a couple of chiros, a couple PTs, had X-rays and an MRI -- nothing was helping. I coincidentally heard about Dr. Akin from a friend of a friend and started w/ him in March 2022. Our first appointment was enlightening: So many things not even related to my back that he picked up on that had been causing mild discomfort for years; for me, a locked up ankle that was causing tightness on that same hip and pain in the opposite heel and knee. A lot of drs will tell you low back pain is a result of a weak core. While that's true, Dr. Akin's approach to building the core is unlike anything I've done or seen on websites, social media/bloggers, etc. If you've been struggling with back pain for a while and the big box chiros/sport med practices aren't getting you anywhere, you owe it to yourself to call Chicago Chiropractic.

Life-Changing Experience with Dr. Josh: A Must-Read for Those Seeking True Relief…read more I rarely leave reviews, but Dr. Josh has truly changed my life, and I feel compelled to share my experience. After struggling with spina bifida and a self-induced spinal fusion for 20 years, along with countless physical therapy sessions, muscle relaxers, painkillers, and various back massage devices, I finally found relief with Dr. Josh. In just one week, he provided an honest diagnosis of my core issue, which surprisingly had little to do with my back. He identified the root causes related to my mouth breathing and an old ankle injury, simply by observing how I sit. I am now in my third month with Dr. Josh, and for the past 10 out of 12 weeks, I haven't even thought about my back pain. His targeted exercises have made a genuine, visible difference within days. Dr. Josh's understanding of the human body's core issues and his ability to provide precise, effective exercises is unparalleled. If he told me to run through a wall, I would do it without hesitation (of course, using the proper techniques he taught me). I highly recommend Dr. Josh to anyone seeking real, lasting relief. I started seeing him when he wasn't in my insurance network (also not one to like overpaying), because I was in such severe pain from a gym injury, and the endless sessions I have with another chiropractor were not getting me any relief. I'm a strong believer that energy transcends through touch , and he is a natural healer. Yes he is a doctor, he knows the human anatomy , he has the latest techniques , he has a lovely office .... but what's much harder to find in a healthcare provider is a genuine desire to maKe people feel better. He is so attentive. He will try 85 ways to make you feel better , and if it doesn't work he will try the 86th with no loss of enthusiasm. His true greatness is in his humble demeanor. Some chiropractors will act like it's beneath them to massage their patients , but Sunil's ego comes second to doing whatever will help the patient. Lastly , I feel completely at ease with our casual relationship. Sometimes I feel amazing , and stop coming for periods of time. He never stalks me into filling his books. In short - he is amazing. This practice doesn't feel like a business, it feels like a sanctuary.
