They definitely don't skimp on the meat. Two sticks is good enough for a decent meal. And I wouldn't say it's overcooked but it's definitly not at all on the cardboardy side which is really something I appreciate. The flavors are all there. They're rich and bright and not at all overwhelming. Definitely good barbecue. Pork not your thing? There's fish and chicken and squid and longanisa too. But it does take a bit for your food to get to you though. If I'd hazard a guess, I'd probably say it was because they cook it the minute you order it so... maybe it isn't a bad thing? Two of my foodie friends invited me to have lunch there and of course I wanted to try it out for myself and see if it'll live up to the hype. By hype I mean the stories of how much they love it. The meat falls off the bone, it melts in your mouth and you'd think you died and went to carnivore heaven. It's so good! AND it can do with or without the sauce which is great since it doesn't rely on it to be amazing. I loved it so much that I wanted the home buddies to try so I ordered a half rack to go thinking they'd just TRY and sure enough they finished it right away and were already asking when we're going there. The first 3 are their best-selling appetizers, and I totally understand why. Even without their respective dips/sauces, they tasted great, especially the wings & potato skins! It was my first time to encounter a Monte Cristo sandwich, which has turkey, ham, and American cheese. They are inside battered and fried white bread, dusted with powdered sugar and best eaten with raspberry jam. I'm kind of torn about this because it's so sinfully good! I find the battered bread a bit thick, though. Finally, the ribs were tender and seasoned just right. They came with peppery mashed potatoes and corn-carrots (these were kind of salty instead of buttery, though). For our drinks, we had 4 kinds of milkshakes: chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, and the mother of them all - the humongous Milky Way! I love how thick the whipped cream was, it's like cake icing already! The Milky Way is meant for 3-4 people or 1 chocolate addict. We continued our sugar rush with matcha ice cream cake, Bliss o' Berry cheesecake, and macchiato (?) ice cream cake. My favorite's the matcha because hey, it's matcha!!! A close second is the berry cheesecake, which has a subtle citrus-y flavor that doesn't taste like medicine. Coffee lovers would enjoy the macchiato ice cream cake for sure. Good for your soul, no hassle, cheap pricing, just the taste of fire and good, high fiber ingredients. Food choices consist of meat and vegetables. We ordered chicken, sausage, eggplants, squash, tomatoes, broccoli, okra, mushroom, and corn. Everything tasted wonderful and the only thing that saddened me was that they ran out of onions. It was an outdoor grillery. The first time I went there, I decided to order their famous grilled lamb chops and vegetables. Everything was just delicious. The lamb chops were juicy and tender, while the grilled vegetables were crunchy and flavorful. I don't usually eat vegetables, but Shao Kao made me love it. The mixture of fresh spices used to season the dish was just perfection. Shao Kao (for me) is without a doubt one of the best restaurants in Maginhawa.

Yes, while UP is right in the backyard, there are times where I can't quite justify going all that way for my isaw fix. Thankfully, Kayemito covers the most basic of isaw cravings. Sometime in the afternoon, they set up a grill and start taking orders for isaw which they will cook the minute you order. There really isn't much to say about grilled pluck but it's good to know it's right there when you want it. Maybe someday I'll come back for actual food.
