Chicken cooked with special sauce in Chinese style and a "classic savory" taste truly makes the name of the Classic Savory shop worthy of this distinction.
A favorite among the elders who remember fondly the time when it used to be one of the only shops that offered chicken with delicious flavors (naturally before the time of mass-commerce), it still stands today because it seems competitors can't even come close to how the recipe is made. And, even members of younger generations like me cannot deny the delicious taste of the food here, especially the chicken.
Maybe the sauce of the chicken is so distinct, or the way that it is prepared is so wonderfully Chinese, but either way, the Classic Savory chicken has stood the test of time and is often available in many a shopping mall, side-by-side with other chicken-toting competitors who cannot hold a candle to its uniqueness or its ethos at being the first among those who really did chicken well, and continue to do so today.
The menu also includes a bunch of very familiar recipes (Beef Broccoli, Lo Han Chai, Crab Foo Yung, and Fish Fillet to name a few) but, for some reason, I have not yet grown tired of the food. They all complement the chicken quite well but can also stand on their own. I say, the adjectives savory and classic also fit these other dishes, not just the chicken. Nothing weird, nothing totally new, nothing over the top, but undeniably delicious.
So, if you don't want to go wrong with your choice of restaurant, you better stick with the classic. read more
