Natalna Grille - Grilled Squid (Pusit)

The restaurant is along the main highway and as you enter the building, you are immediately in view of the sea while stepping above the breakwaters ... the floor is made of bamboo with tables and furnitures that are naturally locally sourced, too. Organic and naturalist underrated and breathing the humid yet fresh sea smell is a bonus ambiance that makes you feel like dining in the middle of the sea. Our main course was seafood; grilled milkfish (Bangus), locally caught squid with tomatoes, onions and other aromatics. The fish was excellent which to me defined what I've missed for more than 20 years of studying and working away from home. The squid was oh my, chewy but smelled like fire and aromatics in one, garnished with tomatoes, onions and a stench of a little soy sauce. What's interesting was their Borodebod with mushroom ( we call it dinengdeng, for Ilocanos), a locally sourced assortment of vegetables: squash, okra, patola, mushroom etc... with fish sauce as part of its soup base. If you haven't had such dish, go to Natalna and enjoy such delight, it's not only delicious but wil keep you loving for at least 10-15 years longer. I do prevention programs in Los Angeles and cannot stress this more than anything. The Sisig was equally delicious, it had a crunchy component which is an edge away from others that we've tasted as I landed a few days back and on our way to this province. We had other dishes but perhaps having you drop by this restaurant would be best instead of my long descriptive and equally boring narrative about my return to this part of the world. Don't forget to come to this part of the world with an open mind, an empty stomach and a willingness to appreciate the beauty of other culinary dishes from what you've been used to. Enjoy and let me know if you have any question/s? Dr. Conrad Ulpindo, Los Angeles, California 2025 Trip to the Philippines - U.S. Fulbright Programs

Apart from the drive here, everything is just a breeze. The view is magnificent. You'll be seeing a carpet of clouds covering the city and the mountain ranges too. You need to see it for yourself. We also ate dinner here and it was amazing. Their food wasn't too expensive but it was really food. The non magic sarap kind of tasty was there. They also have small rooms but we stayed in their transient house that was good for about 10-15 people. There were only six of us but the rent was still really cheap. Php 5,000.00 a night, complete with a kitchen, fridge, clean bathrooms, comfy beds, a nice view from the terrace, and a wonderful fire place. Like wow, i just wanted to hug the owner for making this place awesome for everyone. Great view, good food, and cozy accommodations.

If you're planning to visit here, you need to contact them, they have phone numbers available on their facebook profile. They will advise you to go up around 5 or 6am before the DENR people will be at the checkpoint. Again, coordinate with them before planning to go to the top, I have seen a lot of people complain about not getting through the checkpoint.

They've managed to elevate common Cordilleran dishes without compromising its authenticity. The menu is written in Ibaloi but the description is in English. We came here for breakfast. We had the Pak-pako (River-fern salad), the kinuday jen manok , kinuday wrap chicken set and blueberry and ube cheesecake for dessert. The pakpako salad or fern salad is probably the best salad we've tasted in Baguio. The dressing is vinaigrette based I think and it is very refreshing. I was honestly surprised at how good the salad was. It can compete with the Japanese salads I so love here in Vancouver. The stir-fried chicken was very tasty, seasoned just right with a hint of smoky flavour which I loved. It comes with rice and beef soup. The beef soup is very rich reminding me of my grandma's beef soup. The chicken wrap was so good, I enjoyed making flavourful wrap with the fresh salad, chipotle sauce and stir-fry chicken. Then the desserts- ube cake was delicious but the blueberry was another surprise for us. I didn't expect to find this heavenly blueberry cheesecake in this Cordilleran resto. The blueberry is obviously not fresh since we don't grow blueberries in the Philippines but it surprisingly tasted really good. The cheesecake is a mix between the western and Japanese cheesecake in terms of texture. It was just right, not too fluffy, not too dense either. It was very cheesy with just the right amount of sweetness. We liked it so much we ordered a whole cake. Unfortunately I only tried these dishes but if you guys ever end up in Baguio, check out this resto representing my roots.
