GSK kitchen, 3 years later

This is my 2nd review (first in Dec 2017, scroll down on this site). We've now had our new GKC kitchen for 3 years. We have not gotten tired of it at all. On the contrary, being home for the last 5 months (and cooking a LOT more) has made us extra appreciative of the way our kitchen looks and the way it flows. Everything about it is glorious! The other day one of the drawers did not pop open as it should. We contacted Sam (with whom we'd dealt before) and he connected us with Richard Bocek. We were able to get a new piece of hardware, (dropped off at our apartment), and Richard guided my husband through the process of replacing the part. Problem quickly solved -- and at $0 cost to us. We could not be happier with our beautiful kitchen and highly recommend the GKC team.

I was late to the game when it came to Ikea, but over the last decade I've done well. There's the weekend ferry -- I wouldn't go on the weekend, but more of that in a bit -- and the subway/bus combo during the week. (Note to self: 4 or 5 to Borough Hall, walk to Boerum Place/Joralemon Street for B61 toward Park Slope, disembark in front of store.) Living in a studio apartment, Ikea is a good choice for furniture adaptable to whatever space you have. Note that you have to be a bit handy as pieces come unassembled, and if you're doing everything on your own you've got to pull components from the shelves. We went to Red Hook Tuesday. The store, configured like all other Ikeas, was virtually empty! The downside is during the week staffing appears to be cut. Unable to find anyone to help us, we sat at the computer and pulled things on our own. It helps to research what you want beforehand. Finally -- an employee happened by. I was worried that by doing it solo we'd forget something 'minor' like a hinge, but she advised us that the computer automatically lists the components essential to construction. (I was nonetheless glad that she took over.) Normally 'we' -- meaning my husband -- would collect items from the warehouse. But not this time! We paid to have everything pulled and delivered. And it worked out famously! When we checked out, I asked the cashier -- no check-out line, btw -- if it's this quiet on weekends. She laughed and said "it's a madhouse on weekends. You were smart to come during the week!" So yeah - that was our positive experience at Ikea/Brooklyn. An extra bonus was the bus drive through Brooklyn, the outskirts of an area I lived in back in the 1980s.

Gowanus

I cannot say enough good things about Jason's service at KF Kitchen Cabinets. I actually first…read morereferenced Angie's List looking for a cabinet specialist, but decided to trust these overwhelming positive 5-star reviews instead. I'm so glad I did because not only did Jason offer expertise to us two kitchen-renovation newbies, he also offered patience and care at every step of the way. Any time we encountered a difficult mess-up due to another supplier, which are almost unavoidable in these projects, Jason was readily available to help and problem-solve. Honest, effective, clear communication with deep expertise and a true heart for customer service! I've recommended Jason's services to friends already, and I've even tried to convince friends NOT looking to re-do their kitchen to re-do them through Jason. Don't wait!

The new cabinets & granite countertop are beautiful and I am just so relieved and happy I initiated this project, that Jason was a part of it and it's done exactly how I imagined. He really worked with us and was so nice and responsive and super kind when I asked questions about ideas that wouldn't work well. He gave my fairly small project as much attention I imagine as the much larger ones they do and I really hope he's available when I have a much larger project I'm thinking about. Thanks Jason, you were terrific
