If I could give 0 stars I would. This office didn't tell me that my insurance had run out, and proceeded to complete a pretty major procedure resulting in a huge balance. The worst part is that their scheduling booked the appointment for the same exact issue, sat and waited for an hour in the office before the next session because of THEIR mistake, and could have let me know at ANY TIME I would be paying out of pocket. I was making payments, never received an invoice, and then they called demanding full payment of 800$ +. I offered to make a payment at that time, and they refused to accept it, so I told them off and to send it to collections. This was 2 years ago, and I just got the collections today. Enjoy your $5 monthly payments, your SHADY business practices, and SHODDY dental work. If you work here SHAME ON YOU. DONT GO HERE. read more

If there was a way to give this practice a ZERO STAR RATING, I WOULD.. ....Rude, PUSHY, I DIDN"T MATTER AS A PATIENY unprofessional and BETH should NOT be dealing with the public. I've been going to Gerber Dental in Hooksett for almost two years, and I can't believe some of the reviews on here. They've always been friendly, helpful, and gone above and beyond to help me understand my treatment and to explain my insurance. They're sweet from the moment I call or get to the door. In the past, I would have given them 5 stars without hesitation. Over the recent months, I'm afraid that it has dropped to a 3. I have been going to this practice for well over a decade. I ALWAYS had the best of experiences, and felt that I had found the most considerate, kind, and thorough dentist on the planet. Then, I was hit with the "tooth from Hell" about 3+ years ago. I was sent to an Endodontist who did a root canal, Dr. Steve @ Gerber did the crown. I continued to have discomfort with the tooth, until present day, which has been almost a 2 year struggle. Now both Dr. Steve, and the Endodontist are telling me that I need the tooth extracted. After $4,000 worth of work!!! I recently had to call Gerber to get some antibiotics, as the tooth has become infected, and I have health concerns that require I get this medication to avoid serious ramifications. So, now we come to the REASON I am leaving this practice. I was forwarded by phone to Dr. Steve's "coordinator", and I had no idea who I was talking to except for a name, "Bobby Ann, or Billie Ann", it leaves me now. Anyway, she was curt at best, took my information, and then began diagnosing my issue over the phone, telling me "she was looking at the x-ray, and could clearly see I needed an extraction, etc., etc." Not sure if she is qualified to be giving patients this kind of information, or not, however, I let it go, and she said she would call me back. After about an hour, (which is good turn around time) she did, telling me that they were calling my RX into my Pharmacy, and that "this was the LAST TIME they would do this", as "the tooth needs treatment, and Dr. Steve isn't a Pharmacy you know". This kind of treatment after decades of being a patient, and referring several friend, and family members to the practice!?! I think not!!! I will miss Dr. Steve, as he is a great person. But, I cannot allow myself to be handled in this way by anyone at a Dental/Medical practice. Farewell Gerber Dental! read more

The building looks like a dump, no signage to the offices, and the office itself needs a facelift and updated color scheme. Felt run down. The young tall frightfully thin woman at reception was condenscending almost shockingly rude. I would NOT have her in that position. She was arrogant. However, her coworkers were open and friendly. The doctor is quick and skilled, although I felt pressured for a lot of additional upsells like crowns and she wanted to 'redo' perfectly fine fillings. I dont pay twice, lady. I felt very rushed like patients through assembly line. I left there thinking it was a run of the mill Ho-hum office, nothing special. read more

Dr. Richard Berube was my dentist in the past 4 years. Last year I have noticed that he "fixed" a cavity that was barely starting. He has been also pushing for a crown on a tooth that had a root canal - I had it done in Bulgaria over 15 years ago, and my family dentist there said to leave it as is because I do not chew much on it. About the crown I simply refused to do it. If the tooth breaks I will worry then I said. A few weeks ago I had a cleaning - the hygienist was very attentive, New X rays were taken (because insurance covers it and it has been a year they said), and she said to me all teeth looked good. Then the doctor came (dr Richard was not there so someone else examined me) and said that she saw a small chip on one of the teeth and a filling is needed. I scheduled an appointment for it- it was yesterday. During the visit dr. Berube tells me that there are two cavities to fix! I was surprised and asked about it - he said it was on the notes. I asked to see the cavity on the x Ray pic - and to my surprise there was absolutely nothing showing, not even a shade on my tooth. He said - well sometimes the "clinical picture" is different and he proceeded to do the filling. I already felt intimidated that I am doubting him so I said nothing else. I really wish I had asked for him to used mirrors and show me the damaged teeth. I also did not like the fact that he did not discuss these procedures, the actual damage, he explained nothing and I strongly believe it was done so the dentistry can bill the insurance - on two occasions the receptionist told be how great my benefits are. Also, what a coincidence that they start this "work" at the beginning on the year when benefits are renewed. He fixed two of my teeth that were healthy and I believe this was done for monetary gain - the insurance was billed over $500 for this! I would not recommend this place. Be careful and ask for second opinion. I won't return there anymore. I have to mention that a year ago they pushed hard for me to get a night guard that I was never able to use because it was so uncomfortable- $300 out of pocket there. read more

I, like most Americans, absolutely hate going to the dentist. I had the same dentist for my entire life in Nashua and it was a children's dentist, so it was time to upgrade because I'm 24. The hygienists were super nice and very accommodating with all of my quirks. They offer Invisalign and take pretty much all dental insurance. The waiting room is very clean and the offices are cute and most even have windows so you feel a little more relaxed. I would highly recommend this place if you are looking for a dentist in the area. read more

I am appalled as I read two of the reviews here as my experience with the Drs. Berube and staff couldn't be further from them. First of all, the Hooksett office couldn't be cleaner or more attractive as it's relatively new having been the former home of the Teach and Learn Shop. The signage out front couldn't be bigger. More importantly, the doctors and the staff are very professional, very caring, and very capable. I have a history of poor dental care and finally, at my "senior" age, seem to have it under control thanks to this office. I have been to both offices and found no difference. If anyone is looking for a new dentist, I certainly would give them a try. read more

The initial work they did on my upper denture was awesome. Although I did pay more than the initial quote I was given. In my opinion the office manager does not belong anywhere near the public. She is rude and uncompromising. The last work done was a broken tooth repair on the denture they had made 5 years earlier. One tooth just broke off the plate and luckily I felt it happen and was able to retrieve the tooth. Thirty days later the same tooth broke off. This time I could not find the tooth. They wanted to charge me $450 to fix the same tooth they had fixed the month before. They would not stand behind their work. When I pointed out that it was the same tooth they fixed 30 days earlier she says "We have no control over what you do when you leave here." I am not sure what she thought I was going to do once I left there but I should have pointed out that the previous work they did lasted over 5 years with intense chewing "after I left there"! I cant believe some of the reviews here.. especially Hooksett. Ive battled with my teeth my whole adult life and did not like going to the dentist. Dr. Nogaj is simply the best dentist I have ever been to. No pushing for routine insurance payoffs. She wants me to have done what I want done. We talked about my issues and she addressed them with the more serious first and the cosmetic that bothered me the most next. She is extremely professional and does great work. I Recently received a letter from Gerber dental and Dr Richard telling me to take my service elsewhere! Wow this is how Gerber treats their patients of 20 years! Implants they inserted and no longer want to deal with or be responsible for. Wow. I informed office mgr(Beth) I was recently laid off and insurance was ending while I was in the process of implant restoration and how I did not want to get stuck with a bill I could not afford at this time. Gerber obviously wanted my insurance money more than they wanted to understand and work with my current situation. Office manager has a real attitude and was difficult for me to communicate with. If this is how they treated me and my family, patients at Gerber for 20 years, I can not recommend them! Aside, Dr. Richard also needs some patient bedside manner training as well. Not sure a tiger can change his stripes though... His recent rejection letter is bizarre considering I am a patient of Dr. Steven and not his. My wife indicated she had to scold him on occasion because he was very cold and impersonal in dealing with her as a patient..Bing, Bang ....see ya on to the next patient and Buck. I also requested Dr. Steven vs. His brother because of this same impression. I had a couple hygienists I liked at Gerber who left and hinted they were not happy as well. I started going to GERBER almost 20 years ago when I was an implant patient of their father, Gerald Berube, who trained and built this business his sons now inherit. So I ask Dr Steve and Dr Richard, Would your Father be proud of the way you handled this case and how you treated a patient of 20 years, kicking him out the door? Probably Not! Great dentists. Wonderful staff. Historically, I have had a lot of fears and problems with dental appointments. Today I had my first appt at Gerber and met Diane and Dr. Stephen. They were aware that I am rather "scared" of going to the dentist and both were very personable, sensitive and friendly in response. The two front desk people I interacted with were pleasant and professional. I have been going to Gerber since early spring. I needed a root canal. The staff was nice and professional, however I felt like the process was being dragged out. My root canal was done about a month or so ago. Since then I had a visit for a cleaning, where I was told they would do 1/2 a cleaning, and that my next visit (today) would be included when I paid $250 +/-.. and then they would recommend a "specialist" for a "deep cleaning" (?) Fine...I went along, today, I went in for 2pm, they got me in about 2:10, did the rest of the cleaning...20 min at most, then the Dr came in, poked around a bit and I was done (2:35p) I get to the desk, and the receptionist said "today will be $58"....I said, I was specifically told last visit that this visit (2nd 1/2 of cleaning) was paid for last visit....She stated the "cleaning" was covered but the "exam" was not.....Bait and switch. I have been a patient of Gerber Dental for 30 years. I see Dr. Stephen Berube and my husband sees his brother Dr. Richard, as well as Hygeinist Patti-Rae (wonderful). Their staff are aware that I have a dental phobia that stretches back to childhood and they make sure that I'm as comfortable as possible. My phobia still exists, but it has decreased significantly due to their care. The receptionist is a nice, soft spoken young lady. The office use to be located on Bridge St, Manchester, but this new location has easy access, good parking, and the office space is clean and comfortable. I would recommend them for your dental care. read more

This is the first time I am using Yelp, but feel I need to share with others about my experience to save them the trouble. If I could give a zero star I would. Every person I spoke with on the phone from both locations was rude, lacked empathy, and made me feel like my health didn't matter. It's a shame because Doctor Stephen is such a nice guy and I had a good experience with him. I called to get a new CT scan for an ongoing issue that is causing me great pain. I went to the Hooksett location to have the scan, paid $285, and was told the next day that I wouldn't get results for at least two weeks. I asked if this could have a faster turn around time, as again, I am in a lot of pain. It was clear that once I mentioned feeling as though they were being rude with me that I was blacklisted, and treated even worse. I was laughed at, put on hold many times per call, and was put on hold for an extended time when I asked to speak with a manager, leaving me no choice but to hang up, and I was continuously given false information. The staff in Hooksett provided a similar experience. I was brought back for the CT scan and the hygienist said, "Ready for your X-Ray?" I asked her to clarify, as I was under the impression I was scheduled for a CT scan. I asked her to double check I was having the right work done and she said, "Yeah, I guess that's just what we call them here." Another hygienist came over afterwards and expressed that she wanted to see how the machine worked and could I get back in it to demonstrate. The hygienists laughed and messed with the machine while I watched my images load. I explained to the office in Hooksett that after I asked to speak to the doctor directly in hopes of expediting the process, I was told no and that he is unavailable "forever." When I asked a hygienist from Hooksett why I was told this, she told me, "That's just what we say sometimes to certain people." After the image loaded, she showed me the pictures and said, "Look, you can see something here," pointing to the scans. This made me worried for my health, but no one qualified to read the images would speak with me. Although I understand and respect that working as an office manager is a thankless job where you are constantly working with people who are demanding service, it is inappropriate and unprofessional to treat patients as though they are just a bother. I collected all of my files and already have another dentist who not only made the time to see me ASAP, but his entire staff made me feel safe and cared for. They were horrified when I told them about the service that I received at Gerber Dental. I have never had an experience such as this where I felt truly uncared for and concerned and scared with my health in their hands. Think twice before going here if your health matters to you. read more
