After I brought this up to the owners attention, he stated "you gave me the instructions of how to install your part AFTER the quote was given". Larry, The instructions were emailed to you minutes after I got off the phone with you. You should have did your diligence and reviewed it. If the job was going to take longer, you had over 5 days to call me with an updated invoice. Eventually the original invoice was honored however he told me I am now NOT eligible for a first responder discount. Due to this bad practice- I do not recommend this shop to anyone.

This was different. No "lemme talk to my manager..." BS. No starting out the conversation with "So what can you afford for a monthly payment?" or any other sleazy, underhand crap you expect when buying a car. Also wasn't left alone for extended periods of time drinking crappy coffee while they figure out how to screw you and try to convince you you're getting a deal. I know I'm salty about dealerships, but can you blame me? Everything was quick and painless. I got the price I went in expecting, npo wasting my time with nonsense. I even reserved my review for after the first service appointment. Bet even that was smooth as silk. Dropped the car off in the morning, they drove me to work, then drove me back after work to get my car. To be fair, I haven't had any problems with the car yet, so we'll see if they stay 5-star in that case, but here's hoping.

brought our wrx here after the engine was blown to have repaired. no effort was put forth to fix…read morethe car, we had to arrange to have the car fixed with the extended warranty ourselves because the manager was lying to us and not calling in and not sending things to them when asked. had our car almost 10 months before we got it back, and paid way more than we should have to get it back. found out a tech who was not qualified to work on the car worked on it and did not put certain clips back, screws were missing and things were zip tied. the car had an oil leak as soon as we got it back, paid to have it fixed, which they did not fix, and when it was addressed again when brought in for a recall they wanted us to pay to have it fixed again because it was coincidental, we refused to pay for what should have been fixed properly the first time. then the motor blows up AGAIN with less than 10000 miles put on it when it should've practically been a new engine and they refused to help us get it fixed and wanted almost 20 grand. at that point we wanted to buy a new car from them and received little to no help and were brushed off. originally before we bought our "bad omen" Subaru we tried to purchase a new Wrx from the Victor store and were not given the time of day and practically laughed out the door. between the service and sales received at both the victor and henrietta locations (yes this happened at BOTH locations) we will not recommend or refer anyone to buy from these stores and will not be trying to purchase through van bortal again!

Want to give a thank you to Howard Road Garage in Gates. They did a wonderful job of diagnosing my…read moreair conditioning issue and getting me up and running. It ended up being just an a/c relay, which basically cost $15. I paid mostly for the tests that assured me my air condition system was working properly and that my issue was an electrical malfunction. Before going to Howard Road Garage I went to one of the major complete auto care shops because my ac wasn't working. And they gave me a quote of 2500.00 saying that it was my compressor and the serpentine belt. I also was going to buy a set of tires with all of the additional bells and whistles for installation for the total work to come out to $ 4100. Good thing I didn't fall for the first Big Box company's suggesting and went for a second opinion. I paid approximately 10% of what the Big company tried to charge me for repair of my air conditioner. And now I can be cool in the summer again. Thanks Howard Road Garage. A family owned business. I was surprised because I have brought them previously a car and sent them a lot of work over the years. So let me tell you about the LONG HAUL on your vehicle if you bring it here to Vogels. I would know about long term on a vehicle from them because they did a Job for me in 2015 on my 97 Camaro. This place is decent place to bring your vehicle if you need something fix short term but long term not worth it to ME. To others they are worth it but they don't restore cars really just fix them. I brought these guys my 97 Camaro back in 2015. Let me tell you what it WASN'T worth the price they charged me 6500-7k and or it felt like I was getting harassed by the owner about paying them. Normally you pay for a job when it's finished but he was eager to collect some before starting it and during before he finished the Camaro. I had to pay before they finished which felt like I was being scammed but I was in a tight pinch and had to get it done. After finally paying them in full they finished it up and said we will detail it up nice for you but the rushed they detail guy and I had wax all over the Camaro. Even the detail guy complained about being rushed. I even mentioned the green paint I could still see but they didn't fix it or nothing. I was super bummed about this but I was still happy to get my 97 Camaro back on the road and drive it. Mind you this 97 Camaro sat after it got "restored"from Vogels. Nothing wrong with it but all the imperfections they left, all the chipped and cracked paint I found and the green paint from the donor parts they used to fix it that you could still see in areas. The Camaro wasn't very professional done at all and the service I got from them especially from the owner himself was good and all till the demanded payment. Then it felt like a scam and it felt like I was being harassed. Now 10 years later I have to repay someone to fix all those paint chips, all the cracked panels and a lot more. So in my opinion it's not worth it because 10 years later and 6500 bucks wasted to repay another person. About the same or more to make it look brand new even better then show room quality they said just like Vogel's promised me but Vogels couldn't handle it. Edit : So after I posted this because I got a phone call at 11:17 from there Shop manager or whatever he is there. His name was Eric. He called me asked me why I would leave a negative review because they refused to take a quote from me earlier today? Then proceeded to say I called them because I had an insurance quote done and I wanted them to add more on? WTF? How is that possible when my accident just happen at 9:33 am. So how did I have time to get a quote and call you to ask you to change that quote? So now I'm more annoyed because they tried to call me out on something I didn't even say. All I said was "can I get an estimate done today for an insurance quote". He then proceeded to tell me IDK why you're posting your Camaro now. It's been 10 years and we didn't harass you. He said "we have to get some up front or all especially when it's not an insurance quote because we gotta pay outta packet for materials"? Really? You have to pay for materials? Wow that's crazy. What about regular mechanics or other shops? They don't ask up front for any money. However I was fine putting a down payment down back then. It was the owner calling me demanding money from me time and time again multiple times and said he couldn't fix it till I did. That sounds like harassment to me. Their excuse was "well sometimes people have us fix it but then not come back at all after we finish". I said "not my fault don't judge a book by its cover. I went out there first thing this morning and checked in. A few minutes later their shuttle driver brought me home. The gentleman's name was Domonic. I found Domonic to be just like every other VanBortel employee. Very polite and professional. As always I must say I'm pleased with all divisions of VanBortel. Sales, Service, Customer Care. And always remember to buy a warranty with your next car purchase. A great benefit they suggest to their customers. And it saves the $$$.

Bad enough that this wasn't truly a "Quicklane" but also that the service team wasn't aware that they weren't taking more customers for the day by 9:30 am.

I went to Schoen Auto today for the first time. It was only for a car inspection, but I feel this…read morewill be my go-to garage from now on. Unlike other garages, there were no fear tactics used to try to tell me I need new tires, or brakes, or whatever. Every interaction that I've had with them so far - phone and in person - has been professional and respectful. While waiting for my car, I listened to the interactions with other customers. I have honestly never heard auto service people speak as kindly and thoughtfully to customers. Also like other independent garages, there is an actual waiting area, with multiple tables, chairs, a window that allows you to look into the garage, a maintained bathroom, and a selection of Keurig coffees. Disregard the couple of bad reviews that have been submitted. Customers can be jerks and there are some people that are never satisfied. It seems that Schoen Auto's genuine philosophy is to do what is necessary to make things right with those rare unsatisfied customers. I hope this garage is around for a long, long time and remains under the same ownership.
