Gerard's is truly a gorgeous place to shop for unique nursery and decor items. It's great just to stop and have a look around since everything is so well displayed and cared for. However, it is not for anyone looking to decorate or garden on a budget. Every time I've shopped here I've been in the company of well-to-do soccer moms and their bratty children. It's a bit scary to whip off of Route 2 to get to this place. I've stopped here a few times, both in late spring and mid fall. The selection of plants in the spring was expansive despite the small retail space. Everything looked lush and healthy. In the fall there is a fantastic selection of pumpkins and gourds, but be prepared to drop a pretty penny for those premium, distinctive gourds. Don't even think of stopping if you just want a few small, average pumpkins - the price per weight it ludicrous! The decor is attractive but too stuffy for my taste - my preference is more modern and minimal. I don't even bother looking at the prices. read more

Gerard's is an extraordinary place filled with the finest plants, sculpture, home decor and pies. Yes pies. This farm stand-meets garden center has devastatingly delicious pies. Triple Berry is my absolute favorite but the other options are divine as well. You know the saying "you get what you pay for?" Well at Gerard's that saying rings especially true because while his prices seem high to the average deal seeker, they are actually well aligned with the elevated quality of the items for sale. The attention to detail and the carefully selected inventory bring a unique aesthetic which might startle someone who thinks they're entering a simple roadside stand. But those "in the know" or anyone with exquisite taste and a proclivity towards the luxurious will appreciate the beauty of this establishment and be willing to spend some $ to get something outstanding in return. read more

I'm a Yelp newbie and don't know how to give half stars (is that possible?), so I had to round up to 4.0, explained below. If I rated on overall experience, it would be 3.3. Anways - My good friend and I were driving from MA to NH when I spotted Gerard's on the highway and thought it was the cutest nursery (granted being off of the highway). We knew we had to check it out on the way back. As we headed back to Mass in that direction, we nearly missed it (it creeps up on you when you're headed south on Rt. 2). Definitely not the easiest to get in and out of, so be aware when you're approaching/leaving. Regardless, it was stunning. It has the most beautiful, unique inventory of plants I've seen in MA/RI. You turn around and see another section you didn't even notice before (not overwhelming at all, but be mindful if you have a time constraint!). Neither of us were planning to buy anything, but before we knew it, we were looking for a cart. The woman working who appeared to be running the show there was extremely rude, which was disappointing. She blatantly ignored me when I asked a question concerning a plant, complimented the nursery, and when I asked where to locate something. However, she became very friendly when my bill rang up to over $230 for 5 plants! Only two of the plants I purchased had the price shown on display, so it was completely on me not to ask before I checked out. Once the woman working saw my friend and I adding plants to a cart, she offered to take our cards inside while we brought the plants to the car. I had such a natural high from the beautiful ambiance, I didn't think twice when I brought my new plants to the car rather than going inside and seeing exactly what I was being charged per item (Still curious). Review broken out: *5 stars on the inventory of plants -Not including the decor storefront of the nursery. Definitely looks good tying the storefront and outdoor nursery together, but extremely overpriced (most of the decor items I saw inside had price tags other than the jams I looked at) and country boujee *2 stars on customer service/transparency *3 stars on location *I didn't buy any baked goods etc., so can't review on this. We drive across the state to buy the Christmas Cactus that they sell each year. Healthy hardy plants in a gorgeous greenhouse and shop.

Every time I go to Gerard's, something strange and magic happens. It's one of those exceptional places where somehow there's a confluence of great energies. I'll always find exactly what I need there, even if I don't know what that is, going in. It's like the way that strange uncle in the Nutcracker gives you a gift that you didn't know you wanted, but is the exactly right thing to change your life. Very mysterious. Has essentially stolen a shipment of product. Won't return phone calls or pay its bills. Outstanding unpaid debt since May 2016.

I was driving rt 2 and decided to stop by for some fruit. There was no pricing indicated on boxes but I thought, how bad can it be? I picked up a few apples, a few peaches and a small pie. The total came down to $34! I asked about prices. The woman's response was: it is all organic from a local town. I asked again about prices. She reluctantly gave me the numbers. It turned out that peaches were something like $8 per lb and a small pie was a whopping $14! Fruit was tasty but not worthy the high price. Have been wanting to stop here for years - finally did a week or so ago when I saw the "plants 50% off" sign. Absolutely amazing place. yes, it's a little pricey, especially the home and garden decor but you'll find some things here you will not see anywhere else. it's so beautifully arranged and so aesthetically appealing, that it's worth the trip even if you're not buying. There were some beautiful rare tropical plants, and the sale made them more than affordable (actually priced less than Home Depot would charge for lesser specimens). if you're just looking for run-of-the mill garden fillers, this is not the place for you. But if you want something special, or are in need of a little serenity break, then I can highly recommend it. read more

Awful customer service! I just bought an $85 plant there 3 weeks ago. After 2 weeks, the plant is dead. I bring it back and I'm accused of not watering the plant when I did exactly what I was told to do by the woman who checked me out....."water it every Sunday and Wednesday and the plant will be fine." Now I'm out $85 and the time it took me to drive there again with the dead plant. Not a good way to treat your customers! read more

Gerard's is a beautiful oasis. Gerard is very knowledgeable and it is clear that this is his expertise. I trust anything he recommends because he is right and he knows what works where and he knows where to get only the finest quality. The shop has a wonder about it....It has the feel of Provence and Tuscany and yet is on Cambridge Turnpike - how exactly does one do this ?? Yes, that is magical ! Please go and experience this for yourself and bring home some of the finest plants , flowers, trees you can find. He has the most BEAUTIFUL hydrangeas and wisteria that I have ever seen. read more

Mixed review from me for sure- took a ride on a rainy Sunday to check out plantings for never ending yard work, being in the interior design business I do have to admit the stuff was beautiful but kinda on the high end....very few things had price tags and nothing told you where specific plant/flowers would thrive. Asked the gentleman working there for some assistance and he could not be bothered with me and my questions, maybe I was not in my fancy clothes or something but really does not make sense seeing this place is in the middle of nowhere anyways. Needless to say I was in the market to buy but was turned off by his lack of costumer service so left and drove down the road to Mahoney's and had a pleasant experience and bought tons of stuff. read more

I live out of town, so needed local help with having a gift basket delivered to my dad when he was released from the hospital. Based on favorable reviews on the web, I phoned Gerard. He was very pleasant to work with, offered me a bunch of options, and delivered the basket on time the following day. I understand it was enormous, and lovely. I chose to include fresh fruit, cookies, and chocolates, but Gerard also offers fresh pies, jams, etc. Just call and ask for what you want, and he will customize it. $50 minimum for delivery in the local area. I have been in this store twice and I agree with many of the previous reviewers, it is a French oasis smack dab on Cambridge Tpke! It is lovely and instantly makes me want to rush home and spruce up my own garden. It is lovely. Yes, the prices are a bit on the high end, but the merchandise is beautiful and a little different from what you might see elsewhere. The garden ornaments are very high quality and probably worth every penny. The flowering pots and topiaries are gorgeous. And the pies!! I bought both an apple and a blueberry and I am never satisfied with a store bought pie (nor most restaurant pies, for that matter). The apple was all right, but the blueberry was heavenly! I highly recommend. I will go back to try the Strawberry Rhubarb as well. Definitely worth a stop! read more
