Definitely $31 for a 9-in. diameter pie seems a bit steep, but it's fun to drop by and see the variety of flavors that they have for the pies. The oat crust was nice and crumbly with various sized bits, the oat bits made it a bit chewier. The bottom of the pie was likely somewhat undercooked, a bit too doughy. The main issue was that the flavoring was too sweet, but I say that for any number of pies that I try out. The inside of the store looked quite neat, with varieties of gardening decor goods available. It was interesting that the bumbleberry pie had rhubarb in it. Is that usual? read more

Many of the reviews here are about over-priced crappy pies, too few are about the nursery itself. I stopped for the plants and OMG this is one of the most interesting collection of rare evergreen plants I have ever seen in the Boston area. I am an avid gardener for 15 years so I've travelled near and far to look for plants. There are many things here that I have only seen in magazines and online. 95% of plants I was interested in were in excellent condition. Some annuals were waning---as they should be given that it's August. Prices---not cheap for sure but some things are not much above Weston's, which is also an excellent nursery. Hard to compare because of the rarity of plants at Gerard's. As an aside I find the Lincoln Weston's is gorgeous---they bought the old Stonegate Gardens site and it's beautiful. You could do Weston's and Gerard's at one time, they are about 20 mins apart. So...if you are looking for special plants and like to wander thru nurseries this is an interesting place to visit. If your thing is Mahoney's, then be forewarned that this is a completely different experience. Not knocking Mahoney's---I've have spent a fortune there---but Gerard's is just such a different kind of nursery. read more

Have been driving by this place for years. Should have kept driving. My son and I stopped in a week or so ago and bought 2 peaches and a large cherry pie. The bill was $35. The pie was $29 and it was just terrible. It was the worst pie, of any type, I have ever tried to eat. There was some Jiffy-type, cake mixture/crust on the top, which was laid on the fruit in squares; it was terrible and I'm not sure what it was made from. It was not a typical crumble top or typical top crust. The cherries, which there weren't a lot of, were tasteless, formless, and adherent to the top crust. Terrible pies; astronomical prices. Keep on driving. Go to Verrill Farms (Concord) or Wilson farms (Lexington). Stop and Shop has better pies and they're less than half the price. read more

We were barely welcomed, we asked for pie, she pointed and said they are over in the other room. We found them, no prices on them. Gerard's is an unexpected gem! My husband & I were on a gorgeous scenic drive when we took a sharp turn into this stunning little farm stand. We were enamored by piles of pumpkins in every shape, size & color. At every turn there was another beautiful, unique piece for your home & garden. This was all before we stepped inside! Step inside this farm stand shop & it is the ultimate juxtaposition of what is outside, both beautiful mind you. I feel so upset. We were headed to an orchard with the kids this morning when it started pouring and we had to turn around. I saw a sign for cider donuts here and screeched off of route 2 to run in. I got 4 Fuji apples and 6 cider donuts and it came to $25. I was too embarrassed to walk away, but I wish I had. It would have cost us less to go apple picking. I was just trying to salvage the day but now I feel worse. I can't imagine how or why cider donuts could be $3.50 each when you can get a bag of them for that much at any of the orchards nearby. Seasonal delights include mums and unique selection of gourds and their interior collection includes exquisite household treats. I love the seasonal napkins! I work at a small program for adults with autism and other developmental disabilities. After a beautiful hike at Walden we stopped at Gerard's to buy pumpkins. I've grown up in the area but had never been to Gerard's as I had heard they have a reputation for being rude. Before the five of us had even gotten out of our van, their reputation for rudeness was verified. By the time we attempted to pay for our pumpkins it had been verified two more times. We decided to leave and buy much cheaper pumpkins from kind people. According to Linus from Charlie Brown, the Great Pumpkin comes every Halloween to only the "most sincere pumpkin patch." Over priced, MOLDY pies! I bought an 8" pie and apple cider which came out to be $30! The annoying part is that the prices weren't marked on anything so you have no idea what anything costs until you get to the register and these prices are significantly more expensive than other places around. I would have been ok with paying extra for high quality products but less than 48 hours after buying the pie it already has mold growing on it! Here's the scenario - you stop at one of the Rt 2 farm stands to get your white pumpkin and fall plants. You pick a place that looks nice - though most do, but as you knock around outside at this particular one, you noticed the extraordinary garden ornaments, the teenie cabbages and kale plants, and the crazy assortment of gourds, etc. - this assortment is hard to find. Home Depot doesn't have 'em. You grab your stuff, head inside to pay and whoa! What is THIS? Who knew - It's also a fantastic flower/ antique/ home furnishing/ decor/ gift/ sweet treats store, complete with a fabulous, helpful, pleasantly accented man with great hair, all layered up in a pink sweater. Did I mention the whoopie pies and home made turtles? Tee hee. It's pricey, sure, but they stock some very unique things. The candles, mirrors and various furniture pieces all catch your eye. Here's the confusion - the sign on the building says Perretta's but the receipt says Gerard's. I know of Gerard's, and I've heard it's a fantastic place to order flowers. No time to research, but I suspect that they either moved across the road and/or purchased another location. read more

I have never stopped here because I feared the traffic to get back onto Rt 2, but the other day, I learned it was worth it. There are huge piles of gorgeous pumpkins - regular, weird, Cinderella, squashes of all shapes and sizes, dried corn, corn stalks, mums mums MUMMMMMMMS, and creepy cool garden statues to ogle. So great. There's a farm stand in the covered part (outdoors) with apples, squash, onions, peppers, handmade pies (big and small) and tons of goodies - cookies, muffins, happiness, you name it.
