The minimum wait in the infusion waiting area is 2-3 hours and the supervisor just does not care. I walk in the back during my wait and see half the treatment rooms empty. I know it is not the nurses fault but it is truly the manager who does not know how to handle the work flow. We have been getting treatments there over a year and a half and the excuses are weekely. Every other program moves us through the treatment day 100X more efficiently. The MSK reputation is truly not worth the added stress of treatment. When you get to the front desk, all the workers are just huddled chatting about nonsense while one person is checking patients in. When the nurse took me back to the patient room to meet with my doctor, I noticed that they leave the doors open when dealing with patients and talking to us. I had to ask her to close my door when discussing my business. In my appointment, which was on a Friday, I was told that I needed iron IV treatments and that I would be called the following week to schedule my appointments. I waited and waited and no phone call. So on the following Monday I called them to ask about this IV treatment I need because I'm 29 weeks pregnant so it's important I get the ball rolling on this. Surprisingly someone picked up! And I start explaining to her that I was supposed to receive a phone call and I didn't. She gets my DOB and sees my chart and says "oh yeah you're approved, let's get you scheduled. He actually wanted you to come in today." WHEN WERE YOU PEOPLE GONNA CALL ME TO TELL ME THAT THESE TREATMENTS WERE APPROVED BY MY INSURANCE AND I WAS SUPPOSED START RIGHT AWAY?! So had I not called, no one would've called me to make this appointment. I found that very irritating. Especially since I need these treatments for my health and the health of my baby. On top of the fact that I'm always tired because of my low iron so these treatments could help me.

I have a positive review however there were some negatives along the way of this long journey. I'm glad to say I'm now cancer-free. Yippie. Let's start with the administrative office. There was a rep there by the name of Yolanda. She helped me in so many ways when I thought at one point I couldn't move forward she coached me & got me through it. May God be the glory. I have to give thanks to my breast doctor. Dr. Moo, my reconstruction surgeon Dr. Coriddi, my oncologist Dr. Brochway, and Meredith - the social worker. Amazing doctor through Radiation, chemo twice, and 6 surgeries. It's over. I'm free. I am here to see 50 years old. I'm celebrating life, optimistic, and moving forward. If you have family and friends that were diagnosed take them to Sloan Kettering. It's a great hospital.

Compassionate, understanding and goes over and beyond for patient care. I'm really not just saying this, he is truly incredible. Dr. Ian Horkheimer specializes in hematology and medical oncology and is board certified in both. For many years, he has been treating patients in the Little Silver community. Dr. Horkheimer received his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin. He completed his residency at Washington University-Barnes/Jewish Hospital in internal medicine and conducted his fellowship training at Duke University Medical Center in hematology and medical oncology.

Most of the nurses are great. The woman who make the appointments were always helpful as well. Once and a while I had or saw someone else have some trouble with a particular girl at the front desk. I also had some issues with a couple of the woman giving transfusions. For one they would barely introduce themselves and then Im hard to stick and they would make it obvious when they were annoyed. These things make an uncomfortable situation worse. I add this in because no matter how great a doctor is he is only as good as his staff will allow. Overall my experience here was a 7 out of 10 and if I had any problems I would go back without hesitation.

The scheduler, hearing the tears in my voice, said "We've got you." I have felt that way ever since. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Kerstein and Dr. Park. Clear, patient and compassionate, they have guided me through my treatments without once forgetting my humanity. Yes, sometimes you need to wait an extra 10-15 for your appointment time, but this is a cancer hospital not a restaurant. If someone sick needs a little more time with your doctor so be it. It will be your turn to need the extra 20 minutes at some point. We are blessed in central NJ to have such an incredible medical facility right here. There's nowhere else I would ever go.

I had to send multiple messages and call several times before getting her on the phone. How can I trust my life with these unprofessional people. They are unorganized, so I stopped going there and switched to Stony Brook Hospital Hematologists. I first tried seeing Dr. Yelda Nouri. She quickly stated something briefly. Then she rushed me out the door. I tried to ask some questions. She replied in about five words. Then she left the room to make more money by seeing more patients. She does not care about patient's health; works only for money. Dr. Nawaz is brilliant and kind, yet runs 45-60 minutes late. The Patchogue location has poor quality sensors for the water to turn on in the restrooms. The water turned on for only one second, off four seconds; on again for one second; then no more water at all from the faucet. I have never experienced such poor water sensors before. I almost began to bleed caused by so-called blood specialists. They seem to have no idea what causes eczema. My fingers within two minutes became cracked, peeling and almost bleeding from this location. Patients with eczema, beware. In general, NY Cancer and Blood Specialists has some good doctors, some not so good, and the quality of everything else is poor.
