It has been almost 7 years since my experience with Dr Fine. I had just graduated from college and was going to get my wisdom teeth out.. it was only one wisdom tooth to extract. The tooth was infected when he had pulled it out causing the infection to spread all throughout my face and made its way to my eye. I had gone in to the office after my removal and said that something was not right he in turn stuck a sharp object in my mouth I was still on the prescription drugs so wasn't sure what he had done. A day later I was rushed to the emergency room via ambulance from my towns hospital to Tufts Medical because the infection almost made me go septic. They then had to perform an emergency oral surgery to prevent the infection from spreading. DO NOT SEE DR FINE. It's now 7 years later and my face will never be the same because of him. I had to retrain my mouth to open again and when I called the office to tell him what happened he and staff couldn't have cared less. I was asking the intake assistant questions about what steps the team was going to take during my oral surgery consultation, when Dr. Fine entered the room. "Tell him that if he doesn't want to do the X-rays that's fine, but we have to take the next patient," Dr. Fine told the assistant. "I am just asking questions about the procedure," I responded to Dr. Fine. "That's fine, but we have very limited time and if you want to use it asking questions that's fine with me," Dr. Fine answered. My response: "I can also go to a different practice." Then I left, because I do not trust an oral surgeon who is that rude and uncaring. read more

I am so glad I trusted my gut and did not get my wisdom tooth removed here. A few years ago, I noticed something in the way back of my mouth... a new tooth! I talked to my dentist about it, and he confirmed, I have one lone wisdom tooth, that at the age of 33, decided it was time to join the party. It was coming in straight and was free of the bone, and about half of it eventually descended out of the gum line. My dentist gave me a recommendation, and stupid me decided to ignore it and search for an oral surgeon closer to home. I made an appointment for a consultation, and after getting a full x-ray met with Dr. Fine. Who is... well, fine. He was very nice, albeit a little unprofessional. He got a call on his cell phone in the middle of the consult, it was obvious to me that it was a spoof caller. But he called them back on his cell right then and there. Which I thought was odd and rude to place what could be a personal call during a patient consult. He also made comments about my appearance, I know it's flattering to be told you look younger than you are, but in this situation it made my skin crawl a bit. He also told me that the reason my tooth was showing was because my gums were receding, not because my tooth was descending. But whatever, this is a pretty simple procedure, let's go ahead an schedule the extraction. A few weeks later, I got an estimate for the cost, two fifteen minute intervals of sedation, fully impacted tooth, around $1500. Yikes. Even with insurance, it seemed really high. Between my consultation and extraction, I had a pretty serious filling and some gum removal. So the cost of my extraction went up to $3k since I had run out of my $1500 coverage for the year. So I decided to put it off until the next year when I would have fresh coverage. Besides, I still just did not feel right about Dr. Fine. This also gave me a chance to show the estimate to my dentist who was FLOORED that they would bill me for a fully impacted tooth. He did not even think I needed to be sedated for it. He also said my gums were absolutely not receding (remember my gum REMOVAL surgery? I actually have too much gum tissue behind my molars and it was making it difficult to keep the backsides of my molars clean) and it my wisdom tooth was definitely descending, my x-rays prove that. So today, I went to the oral surgeon that I was initially referred to, and lo and behold, before insurance even, my estimate is only $400. I even started laughing in the office! This will probably only cost me about $35 after insurance. A FAR CRY FROM THREE GRAND. read more

I went to Dr. Fine to have my wisdom teeth removed. I'll be honest, I was completely knocked out for the procedure, so I have no comment there. My review here is because of the follow-up. As I'm sure most dentists know (and as I know now), one of the worst possible complications is dry socket. This is most likely to happen 2-3 days after the procedure. Not knowing this at the time, I let them schedule me so that I started having dry socket symptoms late on Saturday night. By early Sunday morning, we already reached a point where we were calling their office every 15 minutes or so to catch anyone who might be in. (Well, I should say my fiancee was calling, most of this is a blur, since I really only remember the pain). She apparently finally got someone on the phone, who kindly informed us that they weren't open on Sundays, and we should make an appointment to go in the next day. So at this point, it's about 6 AM on Sunday, I've already spent the entire night in a haze of trying desperately to sleep but simply being unable to because of how much pain I'm in. I haven't been able to eat, have barely been able to get any liquid down, basically just to try to take some pills. (Also, the medication they give you for tooth removal doesn't help at all with dry socket. It's one of the ways you can know you have it. Fun!) They seem completely unconcerned about leaving me for the next 24-30 hours like that. We didn't know what else to do, so I was just stuck like that all day. Again, I don't remember much other than spending the day lying in bed crying in a haze. At some point my fiancee got so desperate that we actually drove me down to the ER to see if they could do anything before Monday. Sadly, they don't do dental work, and really didn't know what to tell me, although everyone we spoke to was really nice and very sympathetic. They gave me some stronger pain meds, but again, they didn't help, and just made my head spin and my heart feel like it was beating kind of hard (I still hadn't had much to eat or drink). So finally, after an entire day and another night of this, I called Dr. Fine Monday morning, as soon as someone was in the office, and they tried to give me an appointment after lunch! I was crying on the phone with the woman, begging for anything earlier. When I finally show up for this appointment? The big moment of truth? I was in and out in literally ten minutes. He had to sit me down, packed some gauze in the wound, and sent me home. That's it. A five minute procedure, and they had left me for over 30 hours in the most excruciating pain of my life. I do want to point out that even though I did everything I should have done when I left, I'm not blaming them for the dry socket. It's simply a risk of the procedure, and I understand that. But to leave someone like that with no recourse, and no concern for what I went through? I was appalled. read more

I went to Dr. Fine to get my wisdom teeth removed and had general anesthesia for 3 non-impacted and 1 impacted tooth. Like previous reviews, Dr. Fine's bedside manner appears to worsen after the initial consult. He tries to be engaging but ends up appearing eccentric and insulting. I had no problems with the procedure but with the postop (trend, perhaps?) I mentioned to him that I had a history of being intolerant to pain medication and he assured that the recovery would be ok. Fast forward to after the procedure. He prescribed me vicodin and on the bottle, directions said take every 4-6 hours which I did for 4 days. I felt minimal relief even with the medication and had problems sleeping and was crying constantly but I tolerated it until the medication ran out. I called the office requesting for a refill and they requested that I come in for a followup because I was still experiencing throbbing pain. I was sent home 2 days in a row with some clove-tasting gauze packed into my socket. Instead of pain management, I was interrogated by Dr. Fine on my excessive pill consumption and made to do elementary arithmetic on how many pills I consumed. which was extremely demeaning. According to him too much was taken even though directions on the prescription stated that the dosage was such. To add insult to injury, Dr. Fine retorted with "Oh honey, you're confusing pain with soreness". This was the last straw as I went around the corner to my PCP who prescribed some hydroxyzine on top of 2 days of vicodin immediately. Dr. Fine and his rude, smirking receptionist (freaking door was open, so no patient confidentiality there) treated me like a narccie trying to score drugs but seriously I wouldn't go through all that trouble, pain and money just to. I fully agree with someone's words of wisdom--Go somewhere else. Lol. read more

I would give Doctor Fine 10 stars if I could! I literally just got back from his office after having 2 wisdom teeth extracted. I am feeling good. It could be the Valium I took prior.. who knows. I have been in such pain over the past week. Dr. Fine was so accommodating and was willing to take the teeth out the same day as the consult to get me out of pain. I opted to go in the next day. I chose to do it local because I can't afford to go under. I am so glad I didn't because Dr. Fine kept me very comfortable with the local. A few shots of Novocaine.. 15 minutes later I was dancing in the waiting room with a mouth full of gauze. Dr. Fine himself is so great. He is relaxed, comforting and pretty hilarious. His staff is very welcoming and supportive of the nervous Nelly's such as myself. You also get a very well fitting tank top after you leave. I actually would purchase this shirt in a retail store. It has a little tooth on the front and the doctors logo on the back. Yes, I am currently wearing it. If you are considering someone else to do your dental surgeries. Think again and call Dr. Fine's office. P.S. - The bad reviews written about him are mind blowing. Ignore them. Trust the rest of us Dr. Fine believers! read more

Dr. Fine was very nice and personable. We met for a consultation to have my wisdom teeth removed and he didn't spare me from the potential catastrophes that could have occurred, but reassured me of how unlikely they were. I provided them with all of my insurance info etc. on the day of the consultation. A few days before the procedure I get a call from his office and a woman provides me with instructions on how to prep for the surgery. She mentions nothing about a copay or a bill. On the day of, I go in and they hand me a bill for about $1,500 and told me they informed me about it beforehand (they didn't). Dr. Fine leaves the room while I hash it out with the woman at the front desk. I have no choice but to pay it since it's the day of the procedure. Dr. Fine comes back and says "I just pull teeth, I have nothing to do with the money." Which is more or less a lie, since 1. It's his business and 2. He pays himself from it. The procedure was successful, but a call to my insurance company showed that I was overcharged almost 3X. I called Dr. Fine's office about it and was met with rudeness and told that that was the charge for 4 impacted teeth. It took one more call to the insurance company with a request to have them contact Dr. Fine's office for the same woman to call me back and tell me that I was indeed overcharged and would receive a refund. I have yet to see that refund. I also just got my cleaning, and was informed that I have two significant cavities on my bottom molars next to where the surgery was that was likely caused from the procedure itself. I'm not a dentist, so I have no say as to whether those cavities were avoidable or not. I can give the benefit of the doubt, but all things considered from my experience, I can't comfortably say that I think Dr. Fine is running an ethical business. At the end of the day, he's very friendly and obviously been doing it for a very long time; however, and not everyone has shared my experience. I suggest reading this review and others to make an informed decision for yourself. If they see this review, I welcome a public response/ if they plan on doing anything to right these wrongs. **Update** I don't know if I owe Dr. Fine an apology per-se, but I 100% owe him an update of this review. The refund check for the difference got sent back to their billing department and is being resent to my updated address, and my dentist likely exaggerated when telling me about my cavities. Moral of the story: Everybody makes mistakes and good people fix them. I believe Dr. Fine and his team are doing that. read more

Procedure of getting impacted wisdom tooth out was fine, no pun intended. He was also quite understanding and flexible when I had to go back to get some extra treatment for dry sockets. However a warning: if you have medical insurance that fully covers impacted extractions, don't give them your dental insurance info unless you know you won't be using your dental benefits for the rest of the year. Even though my medical insurance paid their contracted rate in full (and I was only responsible for a co-pay) they were able to bill my dental insurance too through something called "coordination of benefits." Fast forward 2 months and after getting gum surgery I find out I have almost no dental benefits left for the year and now owe another dentist hundreds of dollars. Supposedly this is a common practice, but I was under a different impression. read more

Here's a delayed yelp post from 7/2011: I had an impacted wisdom tooth extracted at Dr. Fine's office. It went perfectly. My dental office did not practice sedation dentistry, and I preferred it. That's how I got to Dr. Fine's office. I was 32 at the time and some Dr's hesitate to treat unless you're in your 20's (I had this experience in the past but I won't name names). I needed a wisdom tooth removed and my dentist recommended Dr. Fine. I saw some of the reviews on Yelp and was almost scared away from going, but I'm so happy I trusted my dentist instead. Dr. Fine is both very professional and very personable. The consultation was almost fun and I scheduled the extraction for two weeks later. However, a couple days later my tooth started hurting worse and worse. I called and they were able to reschedule me for the next day! After such a rescheduling, I was worried I'd catch him in a bad mood. Boy was I wrong! Getting a tooth pulled is never fun, but Dr. Fine and his nurse made it as enjoyable as it could be! I got lightheaded at one point and they stopped and even had me drink some Coca cola! I saw some people said the lady working the front desk was unfriendly. I honestly don't know what they're talking about. I could imagine managing everything can be stressful at times, but she knew how to handle it and smiled through it all! I feel like I went to a different doctor than some of these other yelpers. Go in with a positive attitude. You'll have your teeth taken care of properly and maybe even have a few laughs. read more

Dear Dr. Fine You pulled out my "Texas sized tooth" without making me cry. Sure, it took about 5 or 6 shots of Novocaine (including one to the roof of my mouth) and a little struggling to extracted the renegade tooth, but not a tear was shed and even the aftermath has yet to cause me too much pain. Dr. Fine has to be one of the most amazing dental surgeons on the planet. Not only was he easy-going, kind, talkative, and concerned with his patient (me)...he also said, "you're 21, right?" and I numbly laughed, "no! 29" and he went off about how amazing I looked for my age and made me feel downright awesome. :-) It's the little things! He made sure I felt absolutely nothing during my procedure and helped me calm down when I got a little overwhelmed with the whole thing. Honestly, he made the whole situation better as a result of his demeanor and obvious concern. If I had read the other reviews before seeing Dr. Fine, I might have chosen someone else. That would have been a mistake. Dr. Fine has performed two procedures on me. One was to remove a small piece of root that broke off when my general dentist tried to extract the tooth. The second one was to perform the entire extraction. Both procedures included bone grafts. I'm sitting here the day after the second procedure. I have yet to take a single medication for pain. Forgetting about the time it took for the Novacaine (Do dentists still use that or have the switched to something else? I forgot to ask.), the procedure itself took only a few minutes. There was some pressure with a tool. Then, some more pressure with another tool. (I wouldn't have wanted more, but this was still on the "okay" side of the line.") Then, he started mixing the bone for the graft and I ask something like how much longer it would be to remove the tooth and he replied, "It's already out." My dentist recommended Dr. Fine and because our schedule's were star-crossed, he had the pleasure of removing my wisdom teeth three days ago. 5 stars well deserved. Great customer/patient service. See below for details. Surgery: I had four non-impacted wisdom teeth removed (they were causing jaw pressure/chaffing against the side of my mouth). Three of them came out within a minute or less. One of them took a good chunk of time (probably 5-10 minutes--at least it felt that way) because it was huge and weirdly position. Oh yeah, so you might have inferred--I was awake because none of my teeth were impacted so insurance wouldn't cover general anesthesia--and it wasn't horrifying. But I really don't understand why anyone would ever want to become an oral surgeon lol. Pain: Felt NONE during the surgery. Afterwards the pain was pretty bad the rest of the day. I had my prescription for vicadin filled and ended up using one, and it helped. (I don't understand how the reviewer below went through the ENTIRE bottle of vicadin in four days, by the way, there is so much in there...). Since that day I only feel a little soreness and don't need any painkillers. Staff: No problems with anyone. Unlike other reviewers, I don't think the receptionist is rude (but certainly not my bff lol). She's good at her job, so I have no problems with her. Dr. Fine had a student in training assisting him during my surgery and she was VERY nice and was trying to help me relax (I was very nervous). The office called to follow-up with me which was nice... Dr Fine: I like his personality. He's a little eccentric and so am I so we got along very well from consultation to post-op. He was very clear about how things were going to go during the consultation and so there were no surprises. Overall experience: Great. I don't know what people expect...it was pretty straightforward from beginning to end. Like I said, Dr. Fine has a great personality, is a great communicator, and most importantly is clearly a really good surgeon. read more

I was in serious pain and visited a dentist in Brookline to take a look. I had some serious crowding going and a tooth that needed attention pronto. I also needed my wisdom teeth out .. all 4. Was 1st set up for a consult with Dr Fine, which went fairly well and had some laughs. We talked about my wisdom teeth coming out and that we would do them all at once, but I also told him specifically that this one tooth was in extreme pain. My original dentist had set me up with another office to look into relieving the pain of my hurting tooth. This gentleman informed me that I should just get the tooth out after shaving it down a bit. I set up my appointment with vicki and specifically stated I was getting one tooth on left side out and not my wisdom. I called earlier in the day to just confirm and all seemed fine. I come in for my visit and pay before the services are even performed which is odd, but I went along with it. I wait about 30 minutes over my appointment time and when it is my turn they mention the wisdom tooth and I immediately said no not at all. I was set down the had the bib on and then Dr Fine starts saying there is too much confusion and that I was there for a wisdom tooth , when we talked about doing them all at once. I was clearly there for a different tooth and then he REFUSED to treat me. and pretty much kicked me out of the office and disregarded any thing I had to say. He said "I HAVE OTHER PATIENTS." "I WILL NOT DISCUSS THIS ANY FURTHER" All of this going on within earshot of 2 other patients and all the staff. There was no alternative.. it was just straight to I AM NOT TREATING YOU TODAY.. GOODBYE. No alternative .. no debate... He was a totally different person. I am surprised by some of the reviews on here. I had a wisdom tooth out by another dentist and have been experiencing severe pain. Dr. Fine covers for my dentist and he has been amazing. He took my calls every time I called after hours and has been seeing me every morning at 7:30am so that I can get the socket repacked before work and his office doesn't even open until 9am. He has been so nice and really, really cares that I feel better. I would absolutely recommend him to anyone. read more

For years several of my dentists have been bugging me to get my wisdom teeth removed. I just turned 30 and decided to reward myself with oral surgery. So with a referral from my current dentist I went to see Dr Fine. The first visit to the office was for a consultation. I was in and out in 30 mins! In that 30 mins I was able to register with paperwork and insurance, get full new xrays, and get a one to one consultation with Dr Fine about my options. Dr Fine walked me through my Xrays showed me the 2 wisdom teeth on my jaw that were candidates for removal. (The two on top never came in) He told me the impacted one on the left must come out as it is exposed and has a higher risk of complication and infection. He also explained that the other tooth, on the right, was riding too close to a nerve in the jaw and posed too high a risk for nerve damage and he didn't recommend its removal currently. As it hasn't been exposed there was minimal risk for complication (though he explained that it wasn't 100% risk free) and he advised that it wasn't in my best interest to undergo surgery for that tooth currently. I appreciate Dr Fine laying out my options and putting my health and well being over extra revenue. His professionalism was barnone, but he always maintain a sense of humor the entire time. When it came to the day of the surgery. He was cracking jokes the entire time to keep me calm and even when another one of his patient was leaving as I was signing in he had them give me a "testimonial" and jokingly said that they weren't paid actors. I appreciated the levity as I was dreading the surgery. Dr Fine had also instructed my friend to go get my prescription for me while I underwent the procedure. He handed him a card with the different drugstore options in the area made the whole process fool proof. I opted for general anestesia and was under in moments - last memory I remember was of Dr Fine asking, "if I was beginning to feel the anestesia?" I just remember waking up at home. I was provided a checklist of things to do and not to do provided by Dr Fine and have been following it with great satisfaction. My discomfort is pretty minimal. Today the office called to check up on me, and I had a question. I called the number they had left on the message and within 30 mins Dr Fine returned my phone call answering my concern. I can't recommend Dr Fine enough. I found out the other day through Facebook that my friend had also had his wisdom teeth removed by Dr Fine and also had an extremely easy and pleasant experience. The worst experience of my life. I want to start by saying Dr. Fine was wonderful at our consult. After that, however, the experience was terrible. Dr. Fine removed 4 impacted wisdom teeth from my mouth. Like another has said, I was unconscious, so can't speak to the actual procedure. When Dr. Fine's nurse/receptionist called the next day to follow up and see how I was doing I told her that I was in terrible pain and couldn't sleep. I asked if he could see the doctor because I felt like something was wrong. She told me he was booked solid and that he could see me on Monday if I wasn't doing better. This was Thursday. On Friday my mother called to say that the doctor needed to see me, that I was horrific pain, and again was told that the doctor as busy and he'd see me on Monday. When Monday morning came I was woken up by a phone call from Dr. Fine's office saying that he'd have to reschedule for WEDNESDAY because his flight was delayed. It turns out he hadn't been booked solid, he was on vacation. He'd entitled to take a vacation, but should have referred me to an on-call doctor. I ended up going to another dentist who confirmed that I had dry-sockets and an infection. I had the pleasure of paying this other doctor handsomely PLUS paying Dr. Fine. Dr. Fine refused to pay for the cost of the other doctor in any way. When I went back to have my stitches taken out his nurse/assistance forgot to remove two of them and I didn't figure it out for almost 2 weeks when I had unreasonable pain. Again, after going to another dentist they identified the problem and had to cut my mouth back open to remove the other stitches. In hindsight I wish I'd filed a complaint against him, but hopefully others will learn from my experience, please don't go to this man. read more

I went in for a much more intense molar extraction today. One where there was an extreme infection and a dramatic amount of pain. I was horrified. That being said, Dr. Fine was not only the best Oral Surgeon I have ever gone to, he and Devon (his assistant) actually made it entertaining. Not only did he get it done as quickly as possible, he did it with as little pain as possible, all the while makiing me (a self admitting hypochondriac) feel extremely comfortable. If you are in need of any type of Oral surgery and are within the state of MA, YOU NEED TO GO SEE DR. Fine, he is absolutely incredible, as is the entire office. This is not an exaggeration, and I have no affiliation to the office. - Simply put, this was just the best experience, a fearful, and in pain patient could ever ask, or wish for. THANK YOU DR. I recently had a broken and infected wisdom tooth removed at Dr. Fine's office. The extraction was deemed by my dentist as an emergency and I was sent over to see Dr. Fine about 10 minutes after leaving my dentist's chair. Dr. Fine saw me immediately and offered to extract the tooth then and there. When I explained that I wanted to be put under, he graciously understood my fear of getting the old wisdom tooth yanked and offered to fit me in at 10 am the next day!!! The procedure was painless and quick. The Vicodin made the weekend and days that follower painless as well. In addition, after stupidly trying to brush the area and yanking my stitches out, he fit me in the next day for another consult. Fantastic chair side manner, very flexible and friendly, and most importantly, puts you at ease during what would normally be a very nervous and anxious time! read more

AVOID AT ALL COSTS I received a recommendation to Dr. Fine from my personal dentist. Suffice it to say I will be reconsidering my choice for dentist after my experience. Before I even went in, I received several calls from an unknown number asking for my insurance information and social security number. It turns out these calls were in fact related to Dr. Fine's office, but it was quite off-putting nonetheless. The appointment started about ten minutes late, and Dr. Fine proceeded to lecture me about how I had not properly filled out my form or consulted my dentist (which was false-I had given both offices the proper info). He then told me that I needed all four wisdom teeth removed, and quickly changed his tone to let me know that he looked forward to having me as a patient. Turns out I only need two removed, per the advice of a second dentist. I strongly recommend that you do not visit Dr. Fine's office for your dental needs. read more

Dr Fine was recommended to me by the best dentist in the world Dr Ken Thomases. I had to have a tooth pulled and I was terrified. I was loosing a tooth and it wasn't a wisdom. Luckily it was the one right at the back, but I was still so nervous and upset. Dr Fine didn't make me feel stupid, or silly for being such a scardey cat and worry wart. The dental assistant whose name I can't remember because I was so nervous held my hand and was so unbelievably nice and kind! I was so grateful. Dr Fine had music playing and talked to me the entire time. He was just so wonderful! Thanks Dr Fine and staff. The prices are so reasonable as well. This guy turned his dentist office into a scam garage where they try to lure you in to do breaks and then tell you you need engine rebuilt or else ... They literally scare talk yo into running needless tests and X-rays, why not charge extra if they can ! Stay away ! read more

I had the pleasure of spending an unexpected Valentine's Day with Dr. Fine and staff yesterday getting a tooth pulled. The previous statement certainly seems strange to say but it is wholeheartedly true! Over the previous weekend I began experiencing tremendous on and off again pain with one of my (non-impacted) wisdom teeth. At the time I was aware that mine would have to come out but had no immediate plans to remove them - the pain unfortunately moved up the time table. I wasn't sure where to go, however after reading some reviews of local dentists/oral surgeons on Yelp, I decided to give Dr. Fine a shot. Monday morning I called and did my best to explain my situation and they were able to book my appointment that day. Upon arriving for my appointment I had the most positive experience I've had to date with a dentist. I was greeted by both Catherine, the office receptionist, and Marcela, one of the oral surgical assistants. They made me feel immediately welcome and began assessing my situation and discussing some of my x-ray options all the while making me feel as they had my best interests in mind. Once all the x-rays and paperwork were taken care of I met with Dr. Fine and got started. Dr. Fine was absolutely fantastic. His professionalism and kind, caring manner immediately made me feel at ease and like I was in good hands. He was honest and open about everything he was doing and next steps he was going to take in addition to being a really funny and easy man to talk to. Perhaps my favorite part about Dr. Fine is that I didn't feel judged at all the entire time I was with him. One of the hardest parts about going to the dentist for me, since my genetically horrible teeth decided to start going down the drain, is the sense of embarrassment that comes with needing a lot of dental work done. While he did want to make sure I was aware of other work that needed to be done, I didn't receive any lectures or condemnation - he just wanted to help me get out of pain. As for the removal of the tooth, after he thoroughly numbed me up, I think it only took him 30 seconds to actually pop it out. A bit of pressure, but zero pain. I was absolutely shocked at how fast he was. From there I was provided with post op instructions as well as a few referrals for local general dentists and sent on my way. With regards to the day after (today), I received a follow up call from Vicki, their business manager, to make sure I was OK. I was happy to report that I was fantastic. I'm literally in just about zero pain, something I didn't expect whatsoever. I am a little sore, but beyond that it's almost like nothing was done. All in all, I had a fantastic experience at Dr. Fine's practice and am more than happy to provide this positive review for him and his team. I just had an emergency wisdom tooth extraction at Dr. Fine's office this afternoon. The experience could not have been better. I went to my dentist (Dr. Gluskin, also amazing) because I was having severe pain over the weekend and wasn't sure if it was the wisdom tooth or the molar in front of it. Turns out the wisdom tooth was starting to abscess, which means it needed to come out asap. He called Dr. Fine while I was in the chair and they said to just head right down there. When I got there, the front desk staff was welcoming and kind. They gave me all the paperwork I needed to fill out and helped me when an insurance company issue came up. The actual procedure could not have been any easier. Dr. Fine and his assistant were lovely to talk to and they put my nerves right at ease. They give you a stress ball to squeeze while they are doing novacaine, which is a great idea. Dr. Fine checked and double checked to make sure everything was completely numb and then pulled the tooth. I couldn't feel a thing at all, and the whole thing was over in about two minutes. I could not believe how easy it was. They gave me after surgery instructions and a prescription for Vicodin, but I don't think I'll need that. I've taken Aleve and so far that's working just fine. I would HIGHLY recommend this office and Dr. Fine! read more

I was recommended to visit Dr Fine by my dentist for the extraction of a broken tooth that had been repaired with a root canal the previous year. Having had six root canals on my genetically vulnerable teeth led me to believe that I had experienced all the pain and aggravation that I could experience at a dentists office. That was true until I met Dr. Fine. Upon walking into his cramped office I was taken aback by the lack of professionalism both he and his colleagues displayed. They left 4 patients waiting as they talked about their plans for the weekend and opening discussed patients that annoyed them or complained so that all the waiting patients could hear. As for Dr Fine, he constantly hit on or flirted with the much younger dental hygienists and even joked that he had hired them because "they were beautiful" As for my teeth, Dr Fine gave me Novocain then left me in the room for so long that when he came back he had to stick me with more Novocain and wait another 20 minutes. He tore the tooth in half while extracting it, then used a bone saw, all the while getting annoyed with me when I cried out in pain (FYI Novocain does not numb the jaw bone) Two days later a piece of my jaw bone that had been chipped off forced its way to the surface and I had to go back in to get that cut open and removed. 4 Stitches later I went home, only to have the same thing happen a week later. Needless to say, I will not be going back to Dr Fine. I should also mention that I have a friend who also recently had a terrible experience with Dr. Fine. I personally would have filed for malpractice but from what I understand you have to die in order to even have a shot at winning a case. Three words of wisdom for you. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. read more

Beyond disappointed with Dr. Fine's front desk staff. I was given wrong informations in terms of what my insurance would cover. The estimate was not even close to what my bill cost. I was quoted approximately 100 per tooth to go under to have my wisdom teeth removed. I received my bill a month later for a total of $933. No one told me the anesthesia would be billed per fifteen minutes. The front desk told me this information was given to me the day I came in for surgery. But I had a consult before and this was NEVER discussed that it could cost me $450 per fifteen minutes if I went under. I trusted his staff to communicate an approximate amount I would pay and it was not even close. I would have looked into other options. Now I have a medical bill that is 9 times what I thought I was going to pay and the lady on the phone keeps saying "sorry." What kind of business operates by discussing payment the day of surgery? Where do I start...well this had to be my worst and most traumatic experience with any practitioner. The receptionist is super rude and Dr. Fine is only nice during your consult. The office is small so you hear people screaming and all the suctioning while in the waiting room not to mention it had kind of a damp smell. I had my wisdom teeth removed and he was super cheap with the Novocaine until I told him I'm feeling to much and cannot go on. I know your supposed to feel pressure but this was straight pain after he gave me more (which he also told me that I wasn't really in pain and I'm just being difficult) I was fine no issues. Which sucks because I didn't know it wasn't supposed to feel that way until he was onto my 4th removal. I can write a short story about my experience but it not going to help how I've felt. Just understand this... other oral surgeons don't have appointments for weeks even months out, Dr. Fine does consult and surgery within a week. He has received so many complaints that other Dentists/Practices NO LONGER REFER him including mine after my ordeal. Just stay away! read more

I had 4 teeth removed, 2 at a time, with local anesthesia. Not only did I not feel a thing, I also had no swelling and very minimal pain afterwards. Dr Fine is very nice, although I thought it was odd that I got a T shirt as a reward for my tooth extraction. I really appreciated not looking like a chipmunk though. read more

This is my first review on Yelp and I must say, I am saddened that it isn't a good one. I had scheduled an appointment with Dr. Fine's office for a consultation to have my wisdom teeth removed. I was hesitant, quite honestly, because of the reviews of Dr. Fine himself. I decided to give it a go. I mean how bad could it be after all? I arrived a few minutes late. Dr. Fine walked in and greeted the patient that was scheduled to see him after me. "I'll take you since you're here on time." Totally unprofessional and rude, to say the least. I decided to take my business elsewhere. It sure was not a good first impression and I've decided to trust future reviews on matters like this. The environment of the office is tense and everyone just seems to be walking on egg shells. I am sure Dr. Fine makes these types of comments and creates an uncomfortable environment all day long. I am a general dentist down the street. I knew Dr. Fine because I was working for this general dentist who refer patients to him. Since then I have been referring patient to him even I had my own practice. I see that my patients came back with great results. Not until couple days ago I need my impacted wisdom tooth out. Now I was in the dental chair patiently waiting and see what is going to happen to me. But to my astonishing surprise, my wisdom was out in 2 seconds with no pain. He gave me his cell phone and follow up on me the next day. I am really back to normal the next days, handling a busy schedule as usual. Dr. Fine's extraction skill is top notch! read more

I had my 2 bottom wisdom teeth removed. They were impacted. The surgery went OK until I woke up at the end of it and they were still working on my mouth. I didn't feel any pain but I could feel the pressure. Issue I had was that I had my teeth removed a few days before a holiday. They called me the day after the surgery to see if I was OK but never contacted me again. I ended up with dry socket and when I tried to call his office 5 days after surgery they then told me he was on vacation for the week. It would have been nice of him to have mentioned this to me beforehand. I ended up going to the doctor who was handling his cases who was very nice and provided me with antibiotics. Its hard to deal with the inevitable but Dr. Fine and co. make it that much more tolerable. The dentist told me I was too wise, so I had a little removed. I asked my dentist to give me three referrals and out of the three he recommended Dr. Fine. He told me I didn't need to love the experience (after all I was getting a tooth removed) and best case scenario, I would never see Dr. Fine again. (my dentist is wonderfully sarcastic). Before walking through the doors, I spent quite a bit of time pricing out all of my different options with Vicky, which was extremely helpful. The X-Rays were done in a jiffy and the consult was pretty straight forward. On the day of the procedure, I had a list of about 15 questions covering everything from A to Z. I think we spent more time discussing my questions than the actual procedure. Bam, it was quick! Like that I was on my merry way. By merry way, I mean numb, then in pain, and finally very sore way. Several days later, I was feeling some discomfort. In trying to figure out what the issue was I made the grave mistake of consulting webMD. I left a message for Dr. Fine and he returned my call a couple hours later. He let me drop by on the way to work only to reassure me that everything was fine. Sure he's a little eccentric and made at least one comment that made me roll my eyes but overall, but it was tolerable. I absolutely, agree with lack of privacy and patient confidentiality. The waiting area, reception, hallway and exam rooms are so open that it is rather easy to hear what is going on in any area. Although, when I was in the office, I was the only patient. As for people's comment about contacting the doctor after hours, he provided a number that would signal a page. He instructed me to call again, if he did not respond within 15 minutes. Dr. Fine is everything you'd want from someone pulling teeth out of your face. Awesome bedside manner, sense of humor and an overwhelming feeling of comfort. He took all the steps necessary to make sure it went quickly and painlessly as possible. I went to Dr. Fine to have a wisdom tooth pulled, and although they were running behind that day, they were apologetic and I can understand that every office has tough days. I was extremely nervous since I'd never had any work done in my mouth, or had Novocain, etc. PLUS I had read some negative reviews on here, but my dentist assured me that Dr. Fine is amazing. And he was! The receptionists and assistants were wonderful, caring, and calming. They called me 48 hours after I left to see how I was feeling. I received more than enough pain medicine, as well. I need to have my other three wisdom teeth removed soon, and I will definitely be going back to Dr. Fine. read more

My time visiting Dr. Fine's office was effortless and efficient. Not having any local dentists in the area, I was referred to his practice for an immediate extraction for an infected wisdom tooth and trusted the recommendation. I was comfortable during my two visits there and very pleased with procedure/healing process. He and his dental assistant made definite effort during the procedure to check in with me, create some laughs, and make the experience "enjoyable." Post-procedure, he was always available for any questions I had about the healing process. It's a tough job. Having to keep me happy while I'm having a molar removed that was fractured biting into an olive pit from one of AuBonPain's salads.... It is tough for anyone having to have a tooth extracted and the pain! Dr. Fine did a splendid job. His staff took my insurance information. He takes both MetLife Dental and Delta Dental. No problems. I plan on having an implant and insurance doesn't cover everything. The staff knew everything in advance and warned me how much I'd owe. They had the correct amount right down to the penny. They called me the next day to make sure that I was recovering well. I was. Dr. Fine took care of the antibiotics and pain relievers (which I ended up throwing out because Ibuprofen was sufficient). He has a great sense of humor. I don't know how he does it. Such a brutal procedure. However, he was quick, efficient and knew EXACTLY what he was doing. He's my kind of dentist. I recommend him and will return to him to complete an implant in 4 months. read more

What makes going to Dr. Fine a great experience is that he is truly the definition of the lax dentist. Typically I freak out around dentists. I recently went to have all my wisdom teeth pulled(One of them was coming in completely sideways). Everything from the consultation to the explanation of the risk involved to the surgery itself was just RELAXED and CONTROLLED. He was saying 'you may lose feeling in your jaw forever' but his demeanor was more like 'I got your back though'. Dude is a real master of his domain and really funny.
