We visited during a roadtrip the first part of April. The indoor and outdoor seating areas are unique and comfortable. There is a large, lanscaped outdoor space with many seating options and a Bocce Ball court. But as with most tasting rooms in Carmel Valley the outdoor areas abut the main road through town so there is some noise and not the views you might be used to when wine tasting near a vineyard. That said it was walking distance from our hotel and the town is easy to navigate. Service there means they bring all of the tastings in individual glasses at the same time so there is not much interaction with staff unless you buy something or ask a question. I had to ask about the backstory of the owners and staff didn't share much about the terrior of the wines. You can order food (maybe just pizza?) there from Corkscrew Cafe across the street where we ate later that night. (We didn't love the lemon prosciutto pizza we had but lots of food on table nearby looked delicious.) read more

Another great find driving up to Carmel Valley for the first time. Georis has a southwest vibe to it with nice outdoor seating among cactus and succulent gardens, and even a Bocce court. The hostess was very personable and took good care of us. They have a nice choice of tastings and all of the wines were excellent. There is also food available that is delivered from a restaurant across the street. We had an excellent Charcuterie Board that included generous portions of high-quality meats, cheeses, and accompaniments for a very good price. It was a great place to while away some time on a beautiful CA day. We definitely recommend stopping here. read more

My friends, who are members at Georis, invited me and my husband to go for a tasting. The internet said they were open until 5. When we arrived at 4:00, no one was at the counter. We waited a while and a guy showed up. Before saying anything else, not even a greeting, he said, "we're closing in 18 minutes. We can do bottles to go or glasses, but like I said, we're closing in, now 17 minutes." Needless to say, I felt very unwelcome. My husband asked if I wanted a glass of wine, but I declined. This is in Carmel Valley, where there are plenty of wineries/ tasting rooms within walking distance. I said I didn't want to rush and we could walk over to Corral, where they are hospitable, member or not. I'm not sure what my friend was saying to the guy, but once she let him know she wanted to pick up her allocation, he realized she was a member, he changed his tune completely. He apologized for having to close early and although the conditions were the same, no flights, just a glass to chug in 15 minutes or less, he was much more friendly. My husband did end up ordering a glass of wine... and chugging it. This was not our first time at Georis, and we're not big fans of their wine, and now it will certainly be our last. With so many choices, you would think service would be more of a priority. read more

We wanted to do a little wine tasting at a vineyard in Carmel. Unfortunately, they were all closed on a Wednesday. However, we came upon Georis tasting room. It had a great atmosphere and even though it wasn't a vineyard, you sat out in the garden and felt like you were in one. The tasting room itself is large with leather chairs and tables. The outside has several patio tables with umbrellas tucked away in the gardens or right off the tasting room. There's even a bocce ball court, which is fun. Alexander greeted us and told us about the wines and the vineyard itself. He was so friendly and provided great information to learn about their wine. Food is available at Georis from the restaurant across the street, which is a sister property. We ordered the charcuterie board which was substantial and had a great variety of things to enjoy. The wine tasting we chose had five different varieties for $30. My husband and I shared the tasting as the pours were generous. I would recommend this tasting room, not only for the wine, but for the wonderful outside garden to enjoy the wine. read more

A very pretty venue with outdoor seating options to allow for adequate social distancing. We three ordered a bottle of the Endless Summer Rose to share over a nicely presented charcuterie board and a couple of pizzas (delivered from the Corkscrew Cafe). Though this review is of Georis, I will say the pizzas were excellent: crisp, chewy crust and fresh toppings, the charcuterie board was generous and the meats were shaved paper-thin. Georis staff were welcoming and attentive and sensitive to safe distancing protocols (masks worn consistently by all staff and correctly, covering noses and mouths). The rose was a nice Syrah-based wine at $30, served cold and with an ice bucket, and though we did not purchase additional wine, it was fine with our pizza. Great service, decent prices, excellent wood-fired pizza, altogether an afternoon well spent. read more

Two weeks ago, my family and I spent a few delightful hours at Georis Winery Tasting Room. A very nice experience! We tasted two of their flights, sharing the wines of course. The favorite wine was Les Abeilles Rouge. In close second, was the Merlot. We also enjoyed a some of their snacks and a desert from their restaurantacross the street, the Corkscrew. Our table was on the terrace, near the entrance, in shade and a somewhat cooler air than the rest of the outdoor tables under the trees. While tasting the wine, we met Charlie, the director of the Wine Tasting room who gave us more details on their wines. All three of us really enjoyed the wine, food and very relaxing and calm atmosphere at Georis. We'll definitely be back! read more

Came here this weekend for my girls-day and we were NOT disappointed. This place was WONDERFUL and within walking distance of our dinner location so even better! There is seating indoors and outdoors and we experienced both. The seating outside is lovely. There is a nice garden, it is spacious, there is enough space between tables for privacy. Inside there was a large table and then smaller seating areas by the fire place, perfect for when the sun went down and it cooled off. When we got here we were greeted by a wonderful staff. They were very polite, knowledgable about the wine, and offered to let us try a small taste before we took the dive to order. We each ordered the grand flight and was it grand. I am OBSESSED with their Sauvignon Blanc. So much so that after the flight I ordered a glass... it is TO DIE FOR! The prices are totally reasonable and you get some great cheese and bread when you order a flight! #worthit We also got the charcuterie plate and the Meyer lemon pizza. Would HIGHLY recommend both... that pizza was amazing!!! Definitely on my list of places to return to when I am in Carmel next!!! read more

This winery has a very nice outside sitting area for tasting and picnicking. We had the $20 flight of five generous red tastings, and it included very good bread and some assortment of cheese. Of the five reds, only a couple were very good. Their wine tastes okay and the place is adorable! The thing I do like about this place is that they give you the option of a tasting that is not the traditional "stand at the bar and talk to people" kind. After a long day of wine tasting, this place was very relaxing! We sat at a table outside and they served our flights to us on paper place mats that had labels for the wine so that we could take notes while tasting. I thought that was pretty nifty! read more

I returned to Georis after 3 years and had such an amazing time! I forgot how lovely the property was and how many flights they had to offer. Upon our arrival we were greeted by Daverly who was just wonderful! She was pleasant and informative:) allowed us to start with a taste of the endless summer rose and we ended up choosing the sparkling flight. We love lvoe lvoe loved the sparkling rose! If you likes reds their merlot and is great too. We bought two bottles of the sparkling rose and one of the les abeilles rouge which comes In such a nice bottle. I ended up becoming a wine club member and it was forced. Honestly daverly just gave me the basic information and it's such an easy membership that I couldn't pass it up. She was the only one working but was so wonderful because we didn't feel rushed and she answered our questions about the wine, grapes and even gave us information about the owner.. I had no clue he owned casanova in Carmel by the sea. The property is gorgeous and a hidden gem.. beautiful seating and you can order food from corkscrew as well as reserve seating for groups ahead. Props to the lovely staff for providing such friendly service to us gals on a rainy afternoon. This property is absolutely beautiful, and I only wish we were able to sit outside and enjoy the property. Cacti throughout and cute little gardens with a view of the mountains, it really doesn't get better than this. We did 2 of the 3 tastings available while enjoying the fireplace and leather chairs inside. We loved the complimentary cheese and bread to go along with the wine. I ended up purchasing a bottle of Bordeaux, and I can't wait to order the Rose that we tasted. When you're in Carmel Valley, don't skip a visit to Georis. I went here this week with a girlfriend and we had such a fabulous time! The building and setting are just gorgeous! We had just finished a delightful lunch on the patio at Corkscrew (also a Georgia enterprise) and asked where the tasting room was.....A delightful gentlemen served us and we so enjoyed the generous tasting. We drank outside and it was magical! We went home with a white that we were told would pare nicely with our leftover Thanksgiving turkey burger with cranberry sauce onto! Let's get this straight: Georis is a wine bar, not a tasting room. They may have one of the cutest courtyards in Carmel, but the wines were underwhelmingly classic. Here's how their "tasting room" works, and why we thought it was just OK... Bummer #1: You pay $20 for a flight of 5 wines. Sure, the pours are generous, so you end up with about 2 glasses worth in the end. But the wines are nothing out of the ordinary: Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Sauv Blanc, multiple Cabs, a Merlot. Old-school Carmel. Bummer #2: You have to pick the white or red flight, there is no mix & match. I'm sorry, but part of the fun of wine tasting is getting a variety of sips, not having to stick to an all-white, all-red theme! Annoying. We ended up ordering one of each flight, just so we could taste both whites and reds. Boom, $40 wine tasting. Bummer #3: Two of the 5 reds we tasted were corked, and I had to bring them back to the bar, where the staff agreed that the wines were nasty & undrinkable (even though they'd already poured those spoiled wines for other customers) and they opened up fresh bottles to pour from. Hey, corked wines are out of the winery's control, but the fact that 2 stanky wines were being poured without any of the staff noticing is kinda weird. Bummer #4: They tout the fact that your $20 wine tasting comes with a "cheese plate." Don't be fooled by the photos on the Yelp page (the giant platter of cheeses with fruits, nuts, and bread). That's the cheese plate you have to order off their food menu for an extra $14. The "free" cheese plate is a tiny saucer with a few chunks of cheddar, industrial brie, and some dry ciabatta. I appreciate the "palate cleanser" but this cheese plate was just pathetic. Besides all the bummer moments, it is a lovely setting to drink wine in (just pretend you're at a bar/restaruant, not a tasting room). After you order your flight, you pick a spot in the romantic Spanish-style courtyard and they bring your flight out to you with a tasting map & notes. It's very self-service. The staff were definitely pleasant, even though they didn't take much initiative to make sure the customer experience was top notch. So - if you need a break from hopping between tasting rooms, Georis is a nice (expensive) place to relax. Just don't expect the wines to blow your mind, or to chat with knowledgeable wine geeks while you sip. read more

After tasting at a few other wineries in the area (all @ a counter and waiting for staff to pour) this was a really nice stop to have a seat, relax and to take your time tasting the offerings. Yes it is pricey but imo well worth it as you get to taste (and compare side by side since you get all of the tastings at once) with cheeses/crackers at your own pace AND not be bothered by staff wanting to know your opinion on each sip (which I much prefer). The quality of the wines you get are excellent which also makes the tasting fee more than fair (they pour VERY generously btw). You absolutely do not feel rushed. The courtyard setting with various fountains and bird cage is relaxing on a bright sunny day as when we visited. This would be a good stop at the end of your wine tasting tour as you are able to stay (and sober up!) for as long as you want. Bring extra water/food and just relax in the shade of their courtyard. I would recommend this place as a MUST experience and visit when in the area. read more

Of course the wine is good. At some point the wine at all of these wineries taste like each other, but what stands out is the service. The service here...full of bitches. That is why I didn't tip them...are you even supposed to tip them? It felt like they wanted you to get the most expensive service/bottles and if you didn't, they would give you the meanest, worst customer service. A beautiful tasting room to stop in and really enjoy the moment. They have a quaint outdoor area to enjoy your flights, but since it was raining, we all headed inside- which is also cute, a little cozy and reminded me of the inside of an Urban Outfitters. The man and I shared the $20 Grand Flight of Reds, and Moms had the $15 White Flight. It's great how you get all of the glasses at the same time to compare( and/or chug) and a piece of paper with outlines to keep track of each glass. While $20 is steep for a tasting, they do provide generous pours, and great cheeses and breads. Although at the end when I racked up an $90 tab, and only left with one bottle I did feel a little hint of buyer's remorse. read more

Georis Winery is a must try when in the Carmel Valley area! The tasting room is so cute- it has lovely art (I was specifically fond of the abstract nudes) and the roaring fireplace adds a very charming element to the atmosphere. The artwork is done by Walter Georis himself! For snacks, we love munching on the Charcuterie Plate (an assortment of fresh meats and cheeses with their delicious homemade bread). This pairs wonderfully with the wine. Now for the main event... Vino! My mom and I split one of the "Chilled Flights" (2014 Les Abeilles, 2014 Pinot Grigio, 2014 Sauvignon Blanc, and the 2014 'Lavender Label' Chardonnay) and one of the "Estate Tastings" (2013 Pinot Noir, 2012 Georis Estate 'La Chapelle', and 2009 Estate 'Cles des Moutons'). My two favorite wines out of the seven were the 2014 Pinot Grigio and the 2014 Sauvignon Blanc, deets below: 2014 Pinot Grigio: This white offers a nose of succulent jasmine, crème brûlée, kiwi, and lemon. The soft entry leaves you to a dry finish of marzipan, almond, and lemon. Light and flavorful, this is the perfect wine for fish or pasta. 2014 Sauvignon Blanc: A barrel fermented wine with a tropical nose of kiwi, pineapple, and lemon zest. Wine is great service is horrible - maybe they were short staffed but the one woman working could care less how long she had us wait for a tasting and the second person was then really helpful and apologized once he got involved but the check out process was then a mess getting the flight charges compensated per their requirements even though we were buying enough wine so left on another bad note Again wine is great but the service makes it really really hard to recommend sadly read more

Made reservations before hand because I had a larger party of nine people. Glad that I did so because it was packed and we would not have been able to find seats if we didn't. Some of us had the rose flight, a few others order the red flight and two of the Chardonnay bottles were purchased before and after the tasting. One cheese pizza was also purchased and I was probably one of the best cheese pizzas I've ever had. The area is perfect because lots of other winery's are around if you wanted to make a day trip and not have to drive around to other venues.
