I did not realize it has to be an oral surgeon to extract the wisdom tooth not Dr Goultas who took care of my old bridge. I came in the office last Tuesday not knowing what to expect. The reception area is small but nice. There was a San Francisco magazine on the table and the page featured about Dr Gurries. My appointment was at 11am but not seen at noonish. Dr Gurries was apologetic of the delay because he was alone (partner was out) and patients emergencies. The staff were nice and professional. Dr Gurries made me felt comfortable. I was nervous because of the wisdom tooth extraction at my age now. It was easy peasy. I am just not a fan of needles. He told me that he will call me at night to check on me. He kept his promise. My husband heard him on the phone and he was impressed the doctor was following up my condition. Dr Gurries was happy that I was fine. I took the pain med but I was fine after a day of pain. I highly recommend Dr Gurries for any oral procedure even though I just met him for the first time. Thank you to Dr Gurries, Lina (Patient Coordinator), Lisa (Xray tech) & Venus (Surgeon Assistant) & Joshua (check in rep) for all your compassionate care.

Over the years, I've done root canals, crowns and captivity fillings all done by Dr. M. In fact, they were so pleasant that I will manage to fall asleep in the chair. He has a TV in every room so you can space out and not freak out when they're working on your teeth (or is that just me?) Plus I love Connie the hygienist who's cleaned my teeth countless of times. She knows my routine so well, that there's always two Advil's ready for me before we get started, topical to put on my gums b/c I hate any kind of pain and my goody bag packed with treats before I leave. (Ok so floss is not really a "treat") Can a dentist office spoil you? I guess so...

I come from a family of bad teeth. I also have intense dental fear. As a kid, my mom took me to a…read moreclinic and every visit brought me a different dentist, ranging from awkward to creepy boy who called little girls "sweetie" and "honey". I avoided the dentist between the years of 6th and 10th grade, then ended up with a dentist who always looked like he was in tremendous stress. It didn't help that the day he gave me a filling was a day after his toddler knocked over a pot of hot oil onto his leg. We only went to him because he made a lenient payment arrangement with my mom since we didn't have insurance. I finally became an adult and picked this guy as my dentist. I can't remember how I found him (I think a referral from a co-worker?) but I've been a patient of his since 1999. So what makes him so awesome? He cares about the quality of work he does. Anal retentive = awesome. He's also very conscientious about people's previous dental trauma and always makes sure I'm comfortable. Not only is he awesome, but his entire office is awesome. They provide excellent customer service that is above and beyond. I had a root canal on a molar yesterday that took 4 hours and this morning, they called me to make sure I was okay. Whenever I get anything major done, they call me that evening or the next day to make sure everything's good. I've also gotten "get well" cards when I've canceled due to illness and gift cards for referring new patients (I've referred at least 5 people who continue to see him). Last month, they had to cancel my appointment because they had a power outage and for the inconvenience, they gave me a $10 Starbucks card. I didn't feel inconvenienced but I appreciate their consideration.

The procedure itself literally took 15 minutes (plus prep time), and every step of the way, Dr. Lyu explained what he was doing and why he was doing it (I was awake the entire time). I know they perform these extractions all day long, but it's nice to see that even for a simple case, he makes sure his patients are at ease. I also appreciated his clear pricing and answers to all of my questions leading up to the procedure, despite having out of network insurance. After calling his office following the initial consultation about a discrepancy on their quote, Dr. Lyu himself personally called me back and adjusted the pricing. He also did not try to upsell me on a bone graft, even after checking the extraction site on the day of surgery. Honest practice is appreciated! In our modern world where every service can feel as though we are being shuffled along, Dr. Lyu stands out for his professionalism, efficiency, and overall great experience. Can't recommend enough!

I have severe dental anxiety and am autistic. I was originally beyond impressed by his patience, kindness, calming demeanor. But I just got my extraction done today and it was literally easier than a regular dentist cleaning. I was on oral sedation + laughing gas which really helped but it was him who helped calm me the most. He was so gentle, talked me through everything, gave me choices. The tooth was out in under a minute... I was SHOCKED. I also have a lot of anxiety about numbing, so we didn't use a numbing gel before the injection which I was really nervous about. But numbing shots felt like nothing more than a pinch (whereas they usually hurt more even with numbing gel). His skill is WILD. I wish he could all my oral care. It's now about 9 hours post extraction and with just some ibrprofen and tylenol I feel zero pain. He also spent 30 minutes on the phone with me days before my surgery when I was spiraling.
