My husband and I stopped here to eat one whim based on the sign we saw on I-20 east. It was worth it! We got the meat and 2 with chicken fried steak, creamed potatoes. I had the green beans and he had the lime beans. Everything was so good! Best green beans I've had in a while, puts Cracker Barrel's to shame. The limas and potatoes were tasty and the steak was too. We were leisurely driving from Talladega on a Sunday evening when we yelped "dessert" near us. This place came up and in the pictures of the menu it said, - PIES. Well we're always ready to get pie and this pie didn't disappoint. We got one of each, no apple, and a large banana pudding. All the pies taste homemade, so does the banana pudding, but everyone has their own taste for whatever banana pudding style they like and this wasn't it for me. I would say this was a cooked banana pudding. The creamed potatoes are southern, the green beans are seasoned well and cooked with bacon. The mac and cheese has a good texture and a yummy cheese sauce. The sweet potato casserole is aite. Corn bread is homemade and crumbles, would do well with butter. The pecan pie taste like candy and is so sweet and delicious. The lemon meringue is the real winner here! Definitely worth trying again, it started to fill up when we were leaving! Hubby and I were headed to Orlando from Nashville, Tennessee and happened across this sweet little diner. The food was delicious and the only thing sweeter than their dessert was the hospitality and the deep southern accent. The price for the Meat and 3 was very inexpensive, so we made sure to tip the waitress above and beyond for the good service, too. If your hungry and can't go any further then yes. The staff are friendly. The prices are cheap but the food is mediocre. The mashed potatoes are from a box. The veggies have no seasoning. I will say the club sandwich was very good. I wouldn't go out of my way to try it but it was good. I also had the peach cobbler which was not good at all. It had no crust in it and it had a funny after taste. I would suggest if you have to stop get the club sandwich but if you can wait, drive on... read more

I've been going here for lunch with some of my buddies for the last few months. We usually meet up for lunch, which is perfect bcz they have 2 lunch specials to choose from. I'm all about a meat n veggies, everything taste fresh and seasoned properly. Owner is a wonderful lady , but her counter help is terrible. The food has become pricy and portions small. When first opening most food was home made but not canned or boxed. The waitresses are flirts with all the local boys and truckers and work for that tip! While the rest of us wait for a refill or a clean table. Friendly staff and quick. Well, I did sit at the counter. Ordered the Thurs special. Apparently there are two types of meat for the hamburger. Real is what I ordered. While waiting, they where making their version of Philly cheese steak. They make it on Texas toast. Interesting. So, my hamburger was average. Not bad. Better than most. Onion rings were avg. Found this little place while driving cross country and boy were we happy! Very good service and the food was typical diner fare served hot. I had a BLT, full of bacon and my husband ordered their special (a hamburger steak with mashed potatoes) and really enjoyed it. If we are ever near here while on the road we would come back! A great little gem for southern home cooking across the street from the Pilot Travel Center in Tallapoosa, GA. Daily lunch specials that come with two sides, a drink and dessert for a little over $7. The fact that there were so few cars in the parking lot at supper time should have tipped off. Fantastic Dinner - Really Good Food, Very Friendly and Clean We were traveling back to Boston from Austin and stopped at Georgia Express Diner for breakfast. My wife and I were very pleased with our breakfast and the grilled chicken sandwiches on biscuits they made for our road lunch. Here are a couple of observations and comments: 1) Breakfast grill items are cooked behind the counter and insight of the patrons. The grill cook has amazing timing for ensuring all items in the order are started at different time so they all ready at the same time. 2) When traveling through the South, I always try either the Biscuits or Cornbread with my meal. The Biscuits at Georgia Express Diner were by far the best I have ever eaten. 3) Many locals frequent this diner and were warming greeted by the staff and other patrons. 4) At one point, the door to the kitchen was open for a period of time and you could see the cook preparing food from scratch for later in the day. 5) When the grill cook had an order for a hamburger, he used ground meat and formed the meat into a ball, that then he flatten ball of meat onto the grill. Frozen patties were not used. On my next trip through this area, we will plan a return visit. Only thing I change would like to see at the Georgia Express Diner would be to have real butter and local jelly/jam for the biscuits. I could easily have a breakfast of fresh biscuits, bacon, and potatoes, with coffee please. read more

Comfort food that is well prepared with friendly staff. My father and I walked out very pleased and ready to hit the road again. I had the country fried steak with okra and hash browns. All I can say is home style deliciousness. My father got the GA burger and it was the griddle cooked burger. He also ordered fries extra crispy, and they got it done. read more
