Wow! Caught In the Heights last night, and honestly, it felt straight out of Broadway. I've seen shows in New York and at Bass Concert Hall, and this one held its own. The cast nailed it! Great energy, great voices, and the musicians were flawless. There was just one line for snacks and drinks, but it moved fine. Bathrooms are small, but even with a full house, it wasn't bad. This was my third show here, and you can tell the level of talent and production has definitely stepped up. read more

Myself and a friend came to see Fiddler on the Roof. Great show and production. Tickets easy to purchase and seats quickly found. You can purchase drinks and snacks before entering. Got a little chilly so maybe bring a light sweater. Live music during the show was fantastic! There was an incident before the doors opened to receive guest of another patron getting upset (sounded like over seating or an accommodation for elderly). Who looked like the manager of the theater, handled it very poorly, frantically yelling at him to leave and that she was going to call the police. In a crowded room that can be quite worrisome when you can't see or know what is going on. All in all was a good experience but she could have handled it better. read more

Saw Deathtrap at the Georgetown Palace Playhouse 809 S. Austin Avenue directly behind the Georgetown Palace Theatre, Georgetown, TX, 78626. Love the venue. It is a quaint little theater that seats a much smaller audience. So happy to see they are requiring masks since there is no way to social distance. The actors did a great job and set changes in between scenes were done via black light. Went with a friend and we had front row seats. Not a bad seat in the theater. Concessions were available for $2 each. Mostly candy and chips. Can't wait to see the next production here. read more

Perfect night out! We saw the Odd Couple - female adaptation. Everything was nice with slight exception of the house lights. The cast and directing and writing were perfect. I tried to fall in love with Florence but heart was pitter patter for Olive! Great acting; as if I was creeping in their living room window. I rated this a one for lack of willingness to help. I received a package of 4 tickets (not season passes) for a Christmas present December 2021. On October 2 I found 2 plays I wanted to see and sadly found the tickets expired the end of September. I was surprised that a gift of tickets would expire in 9 months. After a brief call and a couple emails, I was told, nope there was nothing they would do. So, be careful if you buy $150 for 4 tickets and use them what I consider pretty fast. I've gone to quite a few plays and I am extremely disappointed at the refusal to help . It's a local group so the decision was made I would assume locally. read more

Georgetown Palace Theatre is a small venue down Austin Avenue, one of the main streets running through historical downtown of this small city, which contrary to common knowledge, is exploding at an exponential rate. EXPONENTIAL. That said, I love me some musicals. Palace Theatre is actually a troupe of local actors who work and live in central Texas hill country, like most of us would. Except that when they get off work, they get to play dress up and sing their hearts out. Sweet gig if you ask me. I came here with a friend to see Jesus Christ Superstar, and you'd be surprised how informal the actors' costumes are. But that is what's special about this group. They don't worry too much about the appearance, but rather the content of the play. Don't let that 'locals' label throw you off: these people are par with Phantom of the Opera & Ragtime performances. Cliff Butler gave Judas a depth that tugged at your heartstrings: even when the spotlight was on a conniving clergyman or Christ himself, I couldn't help but look to see Judas' expressions. Butler can ACT. Wonderfully done musical. The coolest part of Palace Theatre? Audiences can meet cast members by the stage immediately following the finale. We were too nervous to speak with Judas, but we found out Jesus works at Dell. read more

I used to love this place. I've seen 6+ shows in the last 3 years. I will NEVER step foot into this establishment again until a public apology is issued to my Elder 75 year old neighbors! My Friends were just at this theater w/ out masks just 3 months ago. They purchased tickets w out a mask requirement for Grease and then the policy changed. My sweet neighbors walked in without masks while others had masks down or off in lobby. Tickets were taken w no issues. Right before the play started a nasty woman came and put her finger in their faces wagging it saying " we've had multiple complaints about you". Get a mask now or you will be removed". Almost like she got off to berating an enemy. Keep in mind they were blind sided since they were just here without a mask and nobody said anything. Also note that people had masks off to drink wine and snacks sitting side by side. This is disgusting behavior and nobody should be treated this way! My friends were embarrassed and singled out and degraded in front of a 100 people. How dare you Georgetown Palace? Had you talked to them nicely and discreetly they would have probably complied. I have tickets for Grease coming up and i want my money back! I will tell EVERYONE how you treat the elderly! Terrible terrible terrible!!!! read more

Catch Me If You Can now through Apr 7,2019. My kid is in it!!! *** I was able to come in from San Antonio for the Mar 16th performance and I was not disappointed! What a fun show, so professionally done. The choreography was great, the entire cast is engaging and fun, and man do they have pipes! I know, I'm 'Frank's ' mom, but HAL was on point all night! The theater is a gem, entire staff from box office to concessions, ushers to even patrons were nice folks, bordering on awesome! Go, you will not be disappointed! But the house is filling up fast, so don't delay purchasing tickets! Downtown Georgetown is charming and fun as well, come early for a bite or window shopping to find a parking spot. read more

Full disclosure: I went here only to see a friend (and fellow yelper!!) to perform. I probably wouldn't have gone here otherwise. But, I'm so glad I did. It's so super cute! Full disclosure: I did not buy the tickets. The purchaser of our tickets could have chosen the balcony or the second row and she chose the balcony. They were great seats. We could see everything and only had to lean forward slightly when Che was stage right. Or is it left? Full disclosure: I tend to find the positive in everyone. But I didn't have to look hard at all. The workers were so friendly and sweet. Even the nice woman who sold me an Orange Crush made me smile with her sweetness. Full disclosure: I can't carry a tune in a bucket, but I love musicals. Evita was no exception. The cast and crew did a wonderful job. I highly suggest this theater. It's big enough to feel special, but small enough to feel cozy. read more

I went there because this beautiful small town had a version of "Cats" the musical. That is a very ambitious project; I wasn't expecting much, but I love when I'm proved wrong. The voices were not great but in general I was pleasantly surprised of their production. They were truly awesome. My second experience there was to see " A funny thing happen in the way to the forum" I was again amazed of how well they prepare for this shows. Very professional and the theater itself is in great shape and something to be proud of. Great work for all the people involved in all this projects. I recommend this place for all the people that like a relax atmosphere and a great show, you won't be disappointed. read more

The Palace Theater is becoming a wonderful addition to ATX theater goers. Years ago the Palace appealed to the small town community theater crowd, and these folks are quite loyal and forgiving. Now, the Palace has grown into a formidable member of the regional theater community. Stellar casting and quality productions. The theater has a days-gone-by appeal and is very comfortable. There is not a bad seat in the house, even the balcony feels up close. Sound is fine wherever you choose. Be sure to get your tickets early, this is a small theater and shows do sell out. read more

Love this place! My daughter attended a summer camp there and absolutely loved it. It was by far her favorite camp this year and we will be back for many summers to come! Price was fair, hours were decent for working people, and the experience she had was amazing. (And I drive from Pflugerville to Georgetown back to Austin to work and will happily do it again in summers to follow) Tonight was our first real production to see. Wizard of Oz and it was outstanding. The entire performance was awesome and surpassed my expectations. Definitely recommend! read more

The ticket prices are very reasonable but depending on the play, you have to get them quick, as they can sell-out fast! Saw Camelot last night with my wife...absolutely wonderful! Sat front row center and the seating was perfect! The performance was fantastic, well staged, and all the actors were spot on with their accents, acting, and especially their singing! I've been a fan of Camelot for over thirty years and this was one of the best performances I've seen! The theater itself is also wonderful. All of the staff are very friendly, and I don't think there's a bad seat in the house! If you love live theater, take in a show at the Palace Theater...you'll have a great time! read more

We absolutely love this place. I have seen several shows there now, and the performers are top-notch and full of heart. I like that they have both musicals and regular plays. Many shows are family friendly, and if you want to see one that you don't want to take the kids to, All Things Kids on the square offers babysitting sometimes- check with them for details! The seats are comfortable,although the very front row is perhaps not the best viewing if you can avoid it. I do wish that they would figure out a way to offer better refreshments (wine and cheese!:)) during intermission. I also can't recommend their educational programs and camps highly enough. Our 11-year old has grown by leaps and bounds over the past year and has had a blast.The people at The Palace are friendly and welcoming to all who come through the doors! read more

Just came (5 min. late) to a showing of Nana's Secret Recipe. As our party of 4 were shown to our seats we were told we could not sit together, as 2 people had sat in our seats. I asked the usher to ask the ppl to move, and he said no, it would be too disruptive to the movie. I have never had this happen, and it wouldn't have happened at any reputable theatre. Allowing people to occupy reserved seats? No apologies were given, not even "I'm sorry for the inconvenience". Amazing lack of professionalism. read more

We went to this theater for the first time to see "white Christmas"... we took our 3 yo old. He was so happy and just cheering. He was being a 3 yo old, nothing really bad. The played had not started, we got sooo many ugly looks from some ladies in front of us. We felt so little as if we should have never gone there. I thought it was a friendly place for kids, I guess I was wrong. I said; "it's Christmas"... my point here, if you are looking for a relaxed fun place to go... don't go here; all we saw were a bunch of snobbish old women who think they are better than the world. I wanted to get my $ back so bad. We got up and left. We couldn't stand the ugly looks, I mean they were awful. Our son wasn't being bad he would just ask questions here and there and I guess they expected complete silence. Never again would go to this place. Terrible experience for us as a family. read more

This is a review for the summer camp. I have an extremely outgoing 9 year old who wanted to try acting. She's already been in dance and piano for several years and we thought acting would be a good fit. We did the two week camp over the summer and it was a horrible experience for her. She came home crying every day and I called them and was assured everything was ok. Her dance teacher was mean to the kids and I think there were some troublemakers in her group. Unfortunately the troublemakers weren't dealt with and instead they made the camp miserable for the good kids. The teacher was saying how "horrible their show is going to be" and we had family coming to watch. I wish I had pulled her out of the camp after the 3rd day of coming home crying, but I kept thinking it would get better if she could stick it out. Then after a week had gone by I got her to agree to stick it out because she had lines to say in the play and it would mess up the production for others if she left. Now she no longer wants to do acting because of this bad experience. read more

This is my second educational kid's show. The cast members are in their early teens. The plays that have been chosen are adult plays where the teens play adult roles. As a parent and adult, this is more entertaining than if kids were in kids plays. I live in Austin so it is a bit of a trek for me to go to Georgetown, but if no get invited to go again, I certainly don't mind going to the kids shows. read more

Attended Production of You can't do that Dan Moody in the Court house. I was one of the unfortunates that had to sit in the balcony. Totally unacceptable. The safety railing cuts off the actors faces, so you only see their legs, unless you slouch down in your seat & peer between the rails. Sound was also bad up there. I suggest that tickets only be sold for downstairs, as upstairs setting at $30.00 a ticket is a rip off. On a side note, none of this was made known on the website when we bought the general seating tickets. read more

Tough decision.... Do I review the theatre from the point of view of a patron or from the point of view of an actor. I suppose patron is more appropriate because considering Yelp's mission, but maybe I will slip in some actor comments in case there is someone considering making the change from audience member to cast member. I have seen a number of shows at the Palace, and I have to say - with the exception of the first two rows - I love the space. I have sat center orchestra, side rear orchestra, and mid balcony and was happy with all of my seats. The rake of the audience is steep enough that you never really have obstructions. Overall, the theatre is well budgeted, so you can expect some innovative set designs (Cabaret), and some beautiful drops (Christmas Carol), not to mention some magical casts (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels). As with all theatre companies, there will be a range of shows with a range of talent in a range of roles, so not every one will be a home run. I have been extremely impressed of late. Cabaret was dense as it was gripping, lyric as it was talent forward. A Christmas Carol was a good choice for the theatre, not because it's a crowd pleasure, but because they picked the best version to see: the Flaherty/Ahrens compositions. Most other versions make me want to bring harm to Tiny Tim. This was was sheer pleasure. The three ghosts were perfectly cast and very balanced across one another. As a actor - from WAY back, I was pleasantly surprised with my experience at the Palace. Dare I say I was treated even better than I was when I was supplementing my income with an acting career? Oh yes, some equity theaters I have worked don't have the decency to turn on the hot water so I can wash my face before applying make up! At the Palace, I can definitely say that I was treated well as every turn. When it rained, tarps were immediately installed so we'd not get wet (separate buildings). I have worked in theatres where heat is a four letter word. At least at the Palace, we can get some warmth when we are rehearsing. Rehearsal schedules are rather lengthy for my taste and experience, but then again, I take full advantage of all the extra rehearsal time when I am lucky enough to get cast in a show. Evita was my first go-round and I could have performed it many more times. That's how exciting the experience was. And we sold out lots of show! read more

Local theater alive and well in georgetown. Microphone issues...sound issued staging issues can be had here but few and far between. My wife and I love the Palace Theater and greatly enjoyed a previous show, Young Frankenstein, there... But tonight we were really disappointed by a musical production of Legally Blonde. The main characters were off key, and it was painful at times. It was very difficult to make out the lyrics during the songs. I don't know whether it had something to do with the microphones the cast members were wearing. There seemed to be little chemistry between the lead characters (which also seemed to be a problem in the previous play we saw there, Camelot). We left at intermission. We love the fact that there is good local theater here, but we will be more careful in our decision to attend the next production. read more
